- Being an article of clothing that was standard issued to GIs throughout the war. Whether stateside or fighting the enemy far from home, GIs relied on Jackets to protect them from the elements as well as carry and safeguard their sacred personal belongings. Without such a vital piece of their uniform who knows how these men would have managed. In this episode, we will be discussing their humble beginnings all the way into their effects beyond the war.

We need one on HBTs. They seem to be the least understood and most confusing garment as some units wore them, some didn't, some wore them exclusively, and some wore them partially
th-cam.com/video/dcCSdY3Ne0M/w-d-xo.html
Marines definitely wore them a lot, suitable for the tropics
Love these videos, great job! Some video ideas: Packs (haversack, musette bag), headgear (m1 helmet, garrison cap), and maybe an episode on HBT's. Keep up the good work!
2:16 - soldier in the original clip is wearing his M41 inside out, very common as as the M41 faded it turned a very inconspicuous light shade, the olive flannel proving to be far better for concealment when this happened.
Better camo, worse insulation
Hey guys, just fantastic presentation coupled with great info! Thank you!
I swear by my QMI Tanker. It’s been in use for over 7 years and although it definitely shows, it still holds up. The heavy stains and patched over wear and tear has become something of my signature in the hobby.
Very cool video thanks for posting
Great video. Love the mix up of old music and the information. Very nice 👍interesting fact: the M43 was issued prior to or early on in the Italian campaign but a lot never made it to the combat troops as they were taken up by rear echelon troops before making it to the front lines, therefore they didn’t get heavily issued until later.
I don't reenact WW2 but this is a great series, I did however just receive the M41 from at the front and it looks great. It was also on sale for $79. 😃
great video
Good vid
I like qmi for m41s
I bought one from At the front ended up with a short waist line one im 5,10 so order a Long not regular size.
I'm Looking For the Tanker Jacket Like the One Steve McQueen Wore in the War Movie "Hell is for Heroes"
"Even into ww2" yeah, because wool uniforms were much more adequate even up to the 60-s 70-s than the alternative. The m41 jacket is one of the worst designs in uniform history. Absolutely unsuited for military service.
As a ww2 reenactor I highly agree the pockets are ass and sucks.
What if where i live is extremely hot (80-90)? Do I just wear the wools, or should i just wear a summer m41 and only a standard OD/white shirt behind it?
Khakis and HBTs
Depends. Hot and dry? Wools. That's what they did in north africa.
Hot and wet? HBTs. That's what was used in the Pacific.
If you're doing early war, the Khaki uniform was used.
are QMI M41s good?
What's the authenticity consensus on the postwar Norwegian m43 copy?
Probably not the most accurate
What about the different color of the "tanker jacket? Most of them are either a dark "khaki" or a more brighter ochreish tone. Which one is more correct? At The Front claims their jacket and the OD color is the most correct, other sites that sell originals show the ochrish color. Are both correct, is the one just a faded version of the other, different batches, different version/series... which was the most common?
Shading is something that varies between manufacturers during the war. Some jackets may have had a slight greenish tint while others look more khaki. Any of the companies that we have listed would be a fine option to choose from

I’m trying to find an M1938 Parsons jacket for my 1939 GI impression. Anyone know any resources?
As far as I know, there aren't any companies reproducing them currently. What Price Glory made a run of them years ago but they've since stopped
Are M43s still used during Korea or are them been replaced by the M50 and 51s?
43s were definitely used while being supplemented by m50s. The m51s were hardly used if at all maybe late war
Does anyone know the song in the beginning of the video?
'I'm in the army now.' 1941

I want to buy a M43 jacket soon but I don't know if I would chose ATF or QMI can somebody who has a QMI one please give a good review about it? Is it made of correct materials? It would save me a lot of money in comparison to ATF.
What Price Glory's current run of M43s are better than both. Between ATF and QMI, get the ATF.
@@shotgunsteve93 Thank you! I'll go with the ATF one I like the look and it's in stock. I need some other stuff from ATF anyway.
Another thing to consider is also getting the other accessories for the M43 like the field pants and the liners for both. Along with the winter parka hood attachment as well as the rain hood. The jacket and trouser set will fit over your uniform as they are sized larger than what is on the tags.
What Price Glory is cheaper and better.
