He's the Mr. Rogers of car repair! Takes his time and explains everything, but tells you nothing you don't need to know, and he does it with a smile!

Thank you SOOO much for posting this great, comprehensive video! We two women just replaced the battery on our 1997 Porsche Boxter! Off to enjoy the summer! 😁

Helped me tremendously. No matter what the task, if its on a Boxster, you's better consult You Tube or something. Nice vid. Straight to the point. Well shot. Nicely and clearly narrated. And no extraneous soundtrack. A classically prepared You Tube how-to. Thanks Rob! You're the best

BTW, if I'd looked at this video first, I wouldn't have given Walmart my vent tube connector with my core. Gotta run back down there to see if I can get it back. ;]

What a fantastically helpful film. Clearly and patiently explained. Just swapped over with little fuss the battery on my 2000 build Boxster. Many thanks and Merry Christmas from Melbourne Australia.

That was an outstanding video. Several things I wouldn’t have paid attention to without seeing this are 1. The idea of standing in the front trunk, 2. I wouldn’t have known the purpose of the vent hose and I probably would have damaged it, 3. The fact the terminal connectors are lead and shouldn’t be overtightened.

Great video. Nice to see it done. Here is my additonal tips:
    1. Be careful lifting these batteries. They are HEAVY. I stretched my back at the store when I carelessly picked it up from the counter (I'm not very strong, or young).
    2. The users manual gives a good condensed instruction to complement this video. I its also a hint it is something you can be expected to do yourself.
    3. It might be good to check back on the last screw after having driven the car a few times, just in case the battery move some. (Btw mine had alu clip and screw had a 13 mm head, 2003 Boxster).
    4. Take the opportunity to vacuum clean the whole front part around the battery (should probably be done yearly at least anyways) to get rid of any leafs plugging the 4 drains, especially if you, like in this car, have lost the plastic 'window' for the chassi number which leaves a large hole for leafs to get through. It also get easier to work if those plastic covers (left and right) are removed and it is only two torx screws. These shall also be carefully tightened. They only need to keep the platics in place so no need to tighten too much.

nice job with the video..appreciate the organized and detailed manner of how you work. So, I heard there's additional steps to make sure that when you turn the car on, it knows it's a new battery..no?

I'd say no to that. Users manual said nothing about this and as far as I could tell my car was as happy as before.

Is it weird that my '99 base Boxster has the battery installed the other way- negative is on the passenger/right side of the car…?

I thought there was some new battery initialization step after installing a new battery?

You forgot to mention to have the key clicked over once in the ignition or the alarm will deafen you when you remove a wire from the battery trminal!

Daniel Grimes is that what my issue is?!? I just deafened my neighborhood, and had to disconnect again until I figure out what’s going on!

@@1LSuminski what were the steps after the battery with the key in the ignition? I am not following. Thx

Sean Gillette I figured it out. There is a bushing under the steering wheel center cover. Apparently it is common that they wear out, and it makes the horn go off non-stop. So I need to replace that bushing, but until them pulled the B3 fuse 😂
