It is still painful for me to remember how this amazing man's life ended. Thankfully all the years before left us an amazing legacy of great music. R.I.P. John we miss you.

    Happy 83rd birthday, John!
Larry, imma settle down and watch this now - what a great idea to do this on his birthday!

Just got home a half hour ago and this was the first thing I watched. I try to watch everything. This one was special because I know just how much you love the Beatles. John Lennon had such a beautiful soul, I always loved everything I've heard from him! (With yours's and Glen's videos, you covered all the best of Lennon, now I have a great place to start when I want to start listening to his music!)

A great list. I've only just started exploring John's solo career. I hadn't heard the news of the Mind Games release next Summer; I couldn't be more excited.

Yay, looking forward to that Mind Games set! Good video. Always hard to go through John’s discography due to the tragic end of his life.

My choices for best 2 are not too far from yours and we're pretty close on the ranking too.I would swap Imagine and Walls & bridges for 2 and 3. Enjoyable video Larry

Nice tribute Larry. A good commentary on some really fine picks. Fave songs are usually personal choices. One I might suggest as an addition would be Working Class Hero. I've always liked that one and did appreciate Tin Machine's cover of it. Cheers

For me, "Two Virgins" plays really well if listened to outside at 6:00 on a summer morning. It combines with all of the bird and insect noises.

Great Reviews, Larry, on John Lennon's birthday ! I like also the It's Johnny's Birthday on All Things Must Pass, too ! I like the Two Virgins album, bought it at Sam's in Toronto, Yonge Street upon release. That's when I began loving Yoko Ono and next when I bought Fly, I thought, wow, there are some excellent rock tracks that are heavier than Cream and the Some Time In New York City, the Live album is very good. The Approximately Infinite Universe and the Sphinx album by Yoko are incredible music and some of her best written songs in her career. Imagine and the Plastic Ono Band are two of the best in a future Century, say 2100 ! Life with the Lyons, is futuristic for certain Take care.

when I was in London two weeks ago we found out we slept for one night in an apartment two streets away from Johns 1968 house. And in the basement (which you can see from the street - british house) they made the iconic two virgins photo.

Whatever happened to Kyoko? I know John wanted to adopt her. I agree with your list.

"Walls And Bridges" is the one I think they should've done a big box set for. Maybe later? I like "Mind Games", but I don't think it deserves a big set.

@@ricardo_miguel13 I'm sure I'll get the 2 CD deluxe "Mind Games" set. Others will want the super deluxe set, it's just not a big favorite album of mine.

I don't know; for some reason, I've never been a big fan of John's solo albums. A greatest hits is all the solo Lennon I'd need.

The Frank Zappa/Mothers side of Live Jam is my favorite part of STINYC. It’s a real mind blower in headphones! The Lyceum ‘69 side is good but Don’t Worry Kyoko is severely edited.

Larry, did you ever hear the remixed "Mind Games" CD from 2002? It's great and really improved that album, especially in how they brought out John's voice. I'm not fond of the more recent remixes of John's material. They sound too harsh and bass-heavy to me.

I think that if had to rank them today, my Top 3 would be: 1) Walls and Bridges - really underrated album, with Scared and Still and Glass as favorite tracks. 2) Double Fantasy, simply because those 7 tracks from John (with probably the exception of Dear Yoko) are among the best of his whole career, and here I would choose Starting Over and Woman as my favorites. 3) Imagine, suffering from some overexposure, but I would pick Gimme Some Truth and How? as the ones I would pick for this special occasion.

Sadly, I only have Double Fantasy and the now deleted 4-CD LENNON box set (1990) On Double Fantasy, all of John's songs are very good to excellent and Yoko's are quite good. I have been playing the LENNON box all day, currently on disc 3, where most of Rock And Roll is prominent.

It's amazing that I haven't heard most of his solo catalog. The Yoko stuff completely turns me off and the raw stuff from Plastic Ono Band just don't cut it for me, not sure why.
