Don’t let the negative nancies talk down to you. I spent a couple months at Schneider after I had started off with PTL and Swift and a small reefer company. Schneider had the most consistent pay, best trailers (tractors were older but never had serious problems), best driver managers, and best home time out of all of them. Not to mention if you ever switch companies I guarantee you that you are gonna miss having those huge OC locations with the free laundry machines and parking spots. By the way, Schneider will get you your paid time off and 401k savings plans after just your first few months working for them, and the health/life insurance plans are a way better value than what other places have. I’m leaving a small company I’m currently with to go back to Schneider and this time go straight to tanker driving instead of OTR van. Stay blessed and don’t let this negativity out here affect you brother!
I told my spouse I am going to do this because doing Team will increase my income from $32k a year full time from my previous job to $42k or so. With that said, it will allow my spouse and I to actually take a whole weekend off to go fishing or a small vacation and still have money compared to now where I haven't gone fishing because I don't make enough
I worked for Schneider from aug 2018 to April 2020. I did tanker division straight out of CDL school (which they pay for ). The tanker training was excellent. The training period for me was 4 weeks 7days per week from 7am to 5pm out the Coraoplis Pa yard. Then it was 10 days out with a TE ( training engineer? As Schneider called then. It was basically a driver mentor. They really helped me with learning how to back up a trailer. It the hardest thing to learn. I didn’t really have it down until about 8 months into driving solo OTR. When I worked there the pay was cents per mile. I think I was payed .51 cents flat rate rate pay for a bunch of other things like multiple stop pay, loading and unloading detention pay after 2hrs. Ive heard the pay has changed to hourly 25 on duty driving and 15 on duty not driving which is not very good, but if your looking to get your foot in The door I guess you could do worse. The reality is almost everybody leaves before 2years of employment with Schneider for a better paying job. There is definitely micro management there. If you hit the brakes to hard, you’ll get a call within the hour about why that happened and you’ll be coached by somebody in green bay who’s never driven a truck and does hold a cdl. All that said though my employment at Schneider gave me the skills I needed to find a 6 figure chemical tanker at a small company that I plan to retire from.
Idk how long ago this was but I’ve haven’t experienced anything your saying in my 3 months yet. Hourly pay is wrong it’s still by the mile with hourly pay as well but maybe I miss understood that part. I’m Never micro managed when I get a critical event they never call me I have to call them after a while and they just say you know what you did? Ok good! That it’s lmao I was only out with a TE for 4 days but listen if your a problem driver and not good at skills then I they will hold you back longer i personally didn’t experience that.
So they work with you if your not great at backing? I was able to pass the test but still need work. My school never taught us alley back since we were not gonna be tested on it. My school sucked I got maybe 12 hours max driving in a manual truck. I hope Schneider will be able to train me on backing and coupling. They never showed us how to couple as well. 🤣 I go to orientation on the 30th. I'm gonna be on a dedicated reefer account for Schwan. Hopefully it goes well.
I had a critical event cause by the truck being on cruise control and it literally freaking out over a shadow in the road and it turning all the breaks on. I really hate the computers in these trucks.
@@ebzsparkingticket9182 coupling is easy af. My advice for backing is never do a blindside back and don’t use Schneider s 12 to 9 thing. You won’t have room at most truck stops. Make sure you start your day around 3 am so you can end between 1-4pm truck stops are empty. Gives you room to practice. Ask for help.
Thank you for making this video. I'm in trucking school in Allentown PA and will have my CDL soon. I heard really good things about Schneider and applied early to them. Your vid is a nice resource.
I honestly feel the same exact way… heard all the negative things. But heard the training was amazing so I said why not. & I honestly like it here! I’m JetSet. So I don’t have a truck of my own. But safe driving reflects on performance pay, so that’s a plus for me.

Thank you very informative. I just put an application in at Schneider. I get my CDL ( fingers crossed ) in 3 weeks. Have my CLP now. BTW I liked / subscribed :)
It’s my 2nd week of being OTR with Schneider. So far it’s cool, just the tablet work & mostly HOS that confuses me a bit. Definitely gon subscribe for tips.
Started there they are a great company in every way except for pay. They made sure I was extra good in every other area. If they paid more cpm I’d still be there.
I think the pay is good enough for anyone wanting to stay a company driver, As long as you run 2000 + miles a week. It’s also good pay as long as you live in the truck and have no extra bills. But if that’s not you then the pay is crap.
@@TruckingTravels23 depend on your level of responsibility in the world I have a child bills rent car note and other stuff. I drove like crazy and was seeing 1200 1300 checks left after 6 months now I’m seeing 2100 and up easy after taxes doing the same amount of driving. The trade off is everything isnt laid out for you already like at Schneider and the easy access to truck maintenance isn’t there at all. Bit a big deal for me I’m big on pre post trips so imma catch an issue before it becomes an issue.
okay i just finished my first month with schneider ( 25 out 5 off ). background got my license in 1990, walked away from industry in 2010, now back 13 yrs later. Okay so i run 37 eastern states otr solo and its pretty dam good yes pay is determind by miles run and i will tell you the per-diem is a god send. As far as the company goes its good if i have a question, or issue i call, have yet to make a check call. di a rookie mistake two weeks ago had to do a retrain class. will tell you one thing if you mess up own it, they will still mark it down but if you take owner ship of it goes a lot better. pay has been good better the years ago. the issue is and always will be planning ( dispatch ) has no idea, the computer well lets just not go there. but overall on a scale of 1-10 i'm at an 8.5 as far as overall opinion.
I'm about to start 3w training the same area you do solo east. Moving forward the experience and training is the payment but actual pay is a bit discouraging. Travel wise. Be safety
now done with second month. 'm not going to lie there are a LOT of things i don't like about this company, but then there are a lot of things i like about this company. pay and miles is better then i was doing in 08 .now sitting at about 17,500 mile for the two months and little over 6100.oo total bring home , what is really nice is the per diem it bumps the checks up by about 230-250.00 a week. @@jermainebrown2396
@TruckingTravels23 I’m investigating all the stuff to do just that, I want to get all the stuff set up, tax stuff, maintenance place ,banking( business account) and such. Still have 3 months to go before I can do anything. Pay issue has and always will be those that run make more, but if you run smart you can make the same
Your're just like me...I did alot of research before i went with Schneider. I heard alot of good and bad but from my expericnce since I've started in April alot of things I heard about the company haven't been true.
Honestly all the bad reviews are just people who aren’t chill or laid back ya feel me. They are picky and just want everything there way and to be perfect am I right?
@@TruckingTravels23 its not good they are too strict with the vest and no phones on any of their premises rules, I was told youll get fired just for having a phone out on the yard if they catch you, CRST is better and more chill..
They aren’t good if you have a family. I have 15 months experience but caught a 31+ mph ticket back in 2021. That ends your career for 3 years boys lol. So, applied to Schneider and they offered me .39cpm… wtf? 😂 It sucks, but that’s all I can get right now. But, family of 5. Can’t survive off $800-$1100wk. My rents $2300 a month, just can’t cut it. If you’re single and young? Yeah get your bag. I need $2,000/wk minimum though.
Both and you don’t go home unless you live in the state where the training is. After training they’ll send you home to wait for your truck or it will be ready after training. Just depends on where you at.
A company can be ethical and helpful - overall, but you can still deal with difficult employees. Anecdotal stories from one person may not generally apply to the company overall
W vid brother 🔥 I have a question. Since i already have my cdl but no experience, how would schneider training go? would I haveto relearn everything all over again? or do i jump straight to a trainer and truck?
After a year hope you're doing well out there good sir. Aint easy for sure.. ran reefer for 6.5 years but definitely enjoyed every minute of it. 👍 do you driver an keep your head up!
I've never called in for a daily check. I've never driven 8 hours a day everyday. No one ever bothered me. All the trucks are not brand new. No inward cameras.
No reason to do it, Schneider has a high safety score with the DOT. I feel like if any company does it, it’s because the insurance company wants them to.
I want to work for Schneider , only thing i dont like is i have to wait 6 months to have a rider and my wife wants to come with me on the road. but they seem like a better company than swift so we might tough it out. I want to move into tanker division after 3mo
haha think i can get away with it with all the outward facing cameras in the side and front? i guess they would only find out shes riding if my truck breaks down@@TruckingTravels23
My experience with schneider wasn't that good. My partner and I were running teams OTR and we were lucky to hit 3k miles a week. We constantly got hit with layovers multiple times a week. Overnight keeps you on hold for 2 hours waiting to talk to someone just for them to hang up on us. I'm glad it's working out for you, becuase they treated us like crap. We were only making about $700 a week there. We bounced the second we got a better offer.
I’m sorry to here that bro I feel you in that we are doing the same about 3000-4000 miles a week sometimes 5000 but that’s because we aren’t driving hard like we should and updating our NAT to get the next best load. But we don’t make anything less than $1000 a week.
Yea I’m sorry to hear that experience man I agree they need more employees for overnight but there job power is limited anyway. It’s best to put yourself in a position that you don’t need them remember your the captain. I rarely get layovers and if I do I’m fine with it be and my lady like our rest time but that’s just us. Like I tell everyone calculate your miles if your not getting 3 loads a week you might be doing something wrong. .56 cents x 2000 = $1,120 per driver that’s only 400 miles a day for 5 days that’s if your lazy like me and my lady. Now if you hustle hard the whole week you can make more and most people are making .65 cents per mile after year one including bonus.
@@TruckingTravels23 like I said, I'm glad it's working out for you. It didn't for us. I appreciate you defending them by in a nice way saying I don't know what I'm doing. Really appreciate that. Look, we would get hit with multiple layovers a week. The shippers would sell our loads to other drivers/truckers when we're on time or early. DTLs on your ass for going to fast. Most of whom have never driver a truck in their life. Too much Bullshit there. Terrible communication, and FUCK GREEN BAY. It worked out for us though. We got our OTR experience. Yes to your first question, and “technically” yes to your second but no. I’ll explain. They don’t pay for your shower as far as at the counter, that’s on you as a driver. But you get a Pilot/Flying J rewards card and Schneider pays for fuel for company drivers. If you swipe that rewards card when you fuel up you can get free showers for so many gallons of fuel. Now if you stop at a Schneider Operating Center they do have showers and washing machines and a cafeteria and a drivers lounge and a few other things all for free (the cafeteria is not free, you pay for your meal unless you are in orientation. Can you take your reset we’re ever you want or do you have to go back to your home terminal and will Schneider relocate you to a different state as long as they have a terminal there I’m trying to move to Las Vegas
Yes you can take your home time anywhere you want. You can take a reset wherever you want but you have to strategically plan that out and it’s not easy to do. Las Vegas only has a drop yard not a terminal but yes they can relocate you there maybe and I say maybe because you may or may not have to have a Nevada cdl for that to be your home base on paper, but like I said you can take your home time anywhere there is a terminal or drop yard near by.

I dont care for islam but in a work environment employees should not be bashing a students religion. They pay crap . 900 weekly minimum. Managers suck , wont have ur back . Will throw u under the bus with no hesitation. I drove for 3 months and LEFT . Once i quit they start kissing my ass practically begging me to stay . They are terrible people at the çarlisle OC . And greenbay OC. I would recommend them for getting your cdl but once you pass your cdl test , LEAVE or drive for 3 months and then leave . Most better companies will hire you if you have just 3 months experience. I did 3 months and mvoed on to JB HUNT. GREAT MUCH BETTER COMPANY
@TruckingTravels23 well I can tell u I ain't wrong . In Greenbay OC the head guy in charge is some jackass named Charles who don't even got a cdl . In çarlisle OC there's a DM named Tony who is the definition of a little bitch who got in a position of "authority " and thinks he's big shit and a coward named Dan who's his side kick . @Truckingandtravels im at Schneider driver and the daily call its depending on the account you are on. I've help on the target and tractor supply accounts. And those are the only two I've had to call and check with them. Im at the chewy account driving at night. Over the road pays nothing. Moved to a dedicated it pays way more. You get a new truck if during your training you dont get any clock violations. Your 8 hours driving its depending on your DBL i had one that did that to me and had to called them and get it the fuck out of me because it reduces the miles by half. Since my record its good they said no problem do what you do the way you want. Cameras its in your contract they will not put cameras inside. Also i highly recommend get a personal dashcam because the cameras on the truck has a 30 second delay. I can say my experience has been great I am by my understanding in the top pay account they have. I make .80 cents per mile, 18 bucks extra per load and 10 bucks for on duty not driving. I usually pull off $2400 per week on average. I do recommend take the perdiem off it will increase your weekly salary by around 400 bucks more. I run east Coast and they have me going to help other accounts or offering to go to different parts of the country to work on them but i rather stay where i am. I get 4 days off every 2 weeks and i am very happy with my job and position. It all depends on your performance and honesty those 2 will get you far. If you have any questions or your teammate feel free to contact me. Greetings from another Schneider driver my friend.
@@TruckingTravels23 I've been with Schneider just over a year and a few months. And the perdiem it's because it takes way to much out of your weekly paycheck. I was coming up about 350 to 400 bucks short every week once I took that off my salary increase by thatuch weekly. Now it all depends on the personal situation. I rather have all my money now than at the end of the year on tax returns. I'm a Solo driver and I can say that fresh out of school being solo it's a hard if you have no experience at all. Other DBLs from other accounts are always looking for the best drivers in their OC so they can pull them in their account. Not sure what the Tesla account pays but as for the rest of them here in the east Coast chewy is the one that pays the best. I think it’s recording all the time but it flags snap shot recording for example if I’m going fast around a turn and the back wheel of my trailer comes up it’s called roll stability it’s a critical event and they can roll back the camera as far as they want to see how it happened but they wouldn’t look at the camera unless that notification popped up.

I honestly feel the same exact way… heard all the negative things. But heard the training was amazing so I said why not. & I honestly like it here! I’m JetSet. So I don’t have a truck of my own. But safe driving reflects on performance pay, so that’s a plus for me.
That’s why I haven’t made a pay video yet bc it’s so different for every state or division.
I don’t get performance pay but I still like Schneider and I still get a 5 cent bonus every quarter.
Agree I like them……A great company to start with no forced dispatch, safety is important.

It worked out for us though. We got our OTR experience.

Why should I take off per diem can you explain?
Also how long have you been driving for Schneider?
@@TruckingTravels23 I've been with Schneider just over a year and a few months. And the perdiem it's because it takes way to much out of your weekly paycheck. I was coming up about 350 to 400 bucks short every week once I took that off my salary increase by thatuch weekly. Now it all depends on the personal situation. I rather have all my money now than at the end of the year on tax returns. I'm a Solo driver and I can say that fresh out of school being solo it's a hard if you have no experience at all. But you learn a lot that way and becomes fun. I wish I would have been driving semi a long time ago
@@YogisancrMiguel how the hell did you get .80 cent per mile first year?
@@TruckingTravels23 I know I was shocked when they offered me that. I actually was offered that 2 weeks before my 6 months mark. It's like a mention before performance and honesty. If you prove to be a dependable driver and do your best always that doesn't go unnoticed. Other DBLs from other accounts are always looking for the best drivers in their OC so they can pull them in their account. Not sure what the Tesla account pays but as for the rest of them here in the east Coast chewy is the one that pays the best. Even more that hasmat I've been talking to some owners operators here and we at this account actually make more money than them lol. Hey I consider my self lucky because as you know not everyone gets a good experience here but I can say so far it's been great for me
Does Schneider give CDL classes for permit holders?
Yes but it depends on what state your in just give a recruiter a call and say I sent you Brisean Cunningham driver number 1222233
@@TruckingTravels23 Talk about an easy ass driver number to get.
@@SuperGankBros I know lmao I got lucky
Thank you man
Anytime 💪🏾
Does Schneider have a training program to get you your CDL?
Yes they do but it’s through a third party schooling.
@@TruckingTravels23did you goto there free training or you paid for your schooling
@@slimm-xh9jd those are two different things but I got my schooling paid for by a state grant then I got hired with them and went to through there company training for new drivers. Every state has a cdl grant you should be able to apply for.
What is a “rookie addition”
New driver for Schneider/new driver in general
Do the cameras record if someone cuts u off or causes the accident to protect your driving record?
I think it’s recording all the time but it flags snap shot recording for example if I’m going fast around a turn and the back wheel of my trailer comes up it’s called roll stability it’s a critical event and they can roll back the camera as far as they want to see how it happened but they wouldn’t look at the camera unless that notification popped up. Its awesome that they have all these cameras to cover you in case of a crash event.
Runaway from Schneider as soon as you have the chance they a broke ass company 😂
What’s your bad experience?
@@TruckingTravels23he referring to low pay.
@@chancelee4070 I mean not for a new person but for someone with experience maybe so I’m a owner op now with Schneider
How long training
4 weeks
That's definitely micro managing
What is ?
Did they have any female trainers?
In Phoenix they do
Do they hire sap drivers
Yea if it was over 5 years ago
i work for schneider i never had to do daily check in calls. i did the two weeks at wilmer and "5" days with my driver trainer. than got my truck.
The pay is crap. the planners suck. Im leaving in december going back to school
They are a beginner company and a major company none of them pay great unless you become a trainer. You going back to school like college?
tech school@@TruckingTravels23 schneider is the lowest paying of the starting companies at .39 CPM swift, werner, knight are all the the 50's
@@cynicaltexan9639 might be where your from they started off people in my training class at 48-50 cents. But I’m glad I had the option to do teams. How long you been driving ?

Schneider does hair test? Im getting my CDLA through a non profit and theyre making me do a piss test.
I'm out here in Vegas
You should have went through CSN would have been way easier I could have hooked it up for you. Schneider doesn’t hair test, yes.
@@thetrademoor shave all your hair tho is the only way out, you don’t have to be bald make it a buzz cut but everything else bald or just stop smoking for 3 months go on a cleanse man it’s healthy for ya.
@TruckingTravels23 damn too late lol. Didn't know CSN did that type of training
@TruckingTravels23 aw yeah bro I been clean for 30 days now I don't feel like waiting the 90 so I'll probably go with a company that doesn't hair test until after like 6 months I'll switch to a better company.
It was good. Until they tried to get me to take a sleep apnea test, be careful with that
Why you got sleep apnea
@TruckingTravels23 I don't they tried to get me to do that sleep study kit for sleep apnea
@@4real775 I wonder why usually they only do it if you said you have a hard time sleeping or you frequently wake up in the night. I mean I would have done it.
do they do that to everyone or just if you answer the sleep questions wrong
@Midnight-Ranger maybe saying questions wrong..its a couple people on TH-cam talking about it from schneider..check it out
What type of drug test do they have? Hair or urine

*Schneider National right along with a lot of major carriers (CRST) etc has a vetting process* in which they will determine how they are going to go through the hiring process with you. If you notice, a lot of major carrier’s hire mostly immigrants. That’s by design. If you’re a Black American they will find a reason NOT to employ you OR even worse give you a violation during the drug test process. They (Schneider) will claim your urine specimen was out of range in order to force you into doing a Direct Observation test (naked). To make even more uncomfortable… they may have an lgbt guy as the examiner. Be aware
Damn that’s crazy I think it depends where your getting hired out if For-sure because the Phoenix location isn’t like that half my class was black but only one black didn’t make it because he didn’t pass a 10 question quiz that was open book.
