  • Did you know that neuromodulators, like Botox, can significantly treat excessive teeth grinding and clenching?! On today's episode of Face the Facts, our Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Lexie Wang, is discussing Botox (and other Neurotoxins) treatments for the masseter muscle. Sometimes, this muscle can get very enlarged and tense, and cause stiffness and pain (especially if you suffer from TMJ or grind/clench your teeth). Neurotoxins can be used to relax these overactive muscles and relieve the symptoms.
As an added benefit, the treatment can slim down your jawline!

I had my botox application a week ago and I think I can already see the benefits of this, I'm still using my night guard to protect my teeth just in case but it feels I'm not grinding nearly as much as I was before (I might not be grinding at all now). The full effects take place between 10-14 days since the application and lasts for around 6-9 months from what I've read about it. Nice explanation beautiful Dr. Lexie Wang :)

How long did the Botox in your masseter muscles last? How long did the effects last? Have your masseter muscles come back at all and how long did that take? Thank you!
