  • What’s up guys! Here’s another 2023 Chevy Silverado Review! This one is a Custom with the 2.7 Turbo spiny boy! It’s a pretty stout 4 cylinder mates to the 8 speed automatic. Overall it’s a pretty sweet truck and in Glacier Blue Metallic a good looking one as well!

I got the 2023 Silverado Custom and the truck has truly grown on me. I really enjoy driving this truck everyday and every time I get in it. The only negative thing I would say about my 2023 Silverado Custom is that, I don't get good gas mileage from this engine. Nevertheless I have never known any turbo engine to get good gas mileage. However I'm impressed with this High Output engine. So far so good. Now I miss the rumble of my 2019 Silverado LD with the 5.3 v8 and the better gas mileage. Howbeit the purr of this 2.7L 4 banger 310hp, High Output turbo engine with 420 lbs of torque sounds pretty sweet and will move with the best of them. Now we wait for the longevity and reliability of this engine. I think you will be impressed with this truck, though.

Congrats on your 23, which color did you choose? Those carryover LD were cool, especially in 2019 when I was less fond of this new generation’s exterior. I have yet to own a full size truck (I’ve owned a couple Tacoma’s and an FJ). But have always thought highly of the 5.3, but after driving these little turbo trucks at altitude they’re extremely impressive, and sound great for stock, lol.

I just learned something important about my Silverado Custom tonight on my way back from a road trip. I needed to clear some traffic, and I got into my tank, and she shot off like a rocket. However, Chevy has governed these 2.7L turbo engines to top out at 98 mph. The message flashed on my screen, Limited to 98 mph. So don't get in a high speed chase with the police if you own one of these trucks. I normally don't get in my tank like that but it's good to know that I can't go no faster than 98 mph.

When I set my cruise control at 80 mph, I get between 20-21 mpg. I imagine if you drive on the highway at 65, you probably would get close to 24 mpg. The plus side to a 5.3 or 6.2 with AFM is once it’s out of warranty and before the risk of being the 3% with lifter failure you could splurge and have a performance shop swap the cam to a mild street cam, other supporting mods, and a Dyno tune! 420 peak engine torque is rated at 3,000 RPM. I’m sure there is a lot of TQ starting at 1,500. Thanks for watching! 🙂

4 cylinders (turbo or not) for a full size pickup truck is an absolute nonstarter…

I am really curious to see how they hold up over the next 5-10 years. A lot of current owners report loving the power delivery. 🤷‍♂️😛 Thanks for watching!

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 That’s the key point, in 5 - 10 years those turbos will fail if they’re actually used for truck stuff like towing, etc.

4 cylinders have been in trucks for years and years and every diesel I see on the road has turbos.

    Thanks for the review.
Consumer Reports says that Chevy / GMC has fallen to the worst in reliability, which is sad bc Ram / Dodge is now owned by FIAT, which can only manufacture a POS vehicle.
Since you’ll be depressed after your Chevy is in the repair shop so often, you can be depressed with the gloomy grey or coffin black interior as well.
Just curious about your new personal ride…, what color is it? Another sucky silver, Lmao. I’m just teasing you Bro

It’s unfortunate Chevy hasn’t gotten away from their AFM system yet. I drove an early year C6 Corvette today for another video. These were the good days of GM V8 engines. 😢
