F2 have basically the same cars. Even with prema having "set-up" difficulties, its literally the same car made by the same manufacturer. Antonelli is 7th currently in the standings. Not exactly amazing. Russell has been arguably faster than Lewis throughout their time together atleast over 1 lap (and is the only team mate to actually beat Lewis in qualifying over a season). If we assume Lewis is the Goat, that's pretty good for Russell. Russell, Leclerc and Piastri won the F3 and F2 championship in their rookie season. Russells F2 championship literally had lando norris, albon it was a stacked grid. He's a massively underrated driver and he's not worried about Antonelli atleast in th early to mid term. Long term, we'll see where he sits.
I get the point, and those are some legendary F2 Championship winning seasons you mention haha. I remember Leclerc's Bahrain drive like it was yesterday - wanted him in the Ferrari ASAP. I think you can look at it two ways - Antonelli at his age is going to have growing pains. Do I genuinely expect him to go in and beat Russell in his first season? No. Do I think he may threaten what Russell thought was almost a guarantee to have his own team for the long term? Yes With the Prema point - I do think you may be understating the issues they're having. Whilst I do think the Bearman hype might be a bit under control - he is a talented driver, who sits FIFTEENTH in the championship with five total point scoring races! It's clear they are getting something horrifically wrong, and neither driver is able to show their true abilities. Bearman being fifteenth to me shows just how good Antonelli is.
