    It seems to me that Norris actually enjoyed the times he did not have the fastest car more. In those days he could claim he is championship material but did not have the car for it, now he is running out of excuses to why not capitalizing on having by far the best car. Now he is being exposed and it must be very difficult to explain that over and over again. He would made it somewhat easier for himself to give credit to Max, stating that having a faster car is hardly enough to stand a chance against one of the greats of this generation. Also applaud the fact that drivers still can make a difference in a sport where having a not that competitive car makes winning almost impossible. That is what we F1-fans are looking for; the talent winning against all odds. Instead he chooses to downplay the achievements of a Hamilton and now Max, only making himself look worse, since he lost profoundly to the latter. I hope Ferrari / RBR / MB / McLaren will be very close in performance next season and we will see great battles. Really looking forward to the in-team battles of those teams as well. Hopefully no teamorders are needed.

    Lewis’ race in a wet 2008 Silverstone was a better comparison but still coming from 17th I’d give it to Max in that specific comparison.

    Funny that everything is in context, his 2024 and 2016 drives are considered to be one of the best wet weather drives, and I am sure they are, but for example in 2016, Hamilton didn't put a foot wrong in that same race, but since he was leading all the time and didn't pass anyone it isn't talked about much.

    funny seeing this after brazil.. and after lando's lame comment of 'its not talent, just luck', and him bottling the (more then 1 starts) of the race and max nailling all of the starts + the bias against max from fia\ johnny herbert and seeing all the vsc and red flags scetchy times of qualifying and the spring when they waited ages to put the vsc and only put it when lando was ahead of piastri (team order of swap positions).

    I guess Norris will never be a world championship, everytime he gets pole he losses position and making many mistakes, even he did not achieve 2nd place in the race. Max is a beast and talented without him Red bull will not be so strong. Norris has the fastest car, Redbull have the fastest talented driver.

    It was for me obvious who was the beter one....Max or Lando. Max, by a landslide. Norris is a ver good and talented driver. He got it in him to win races. But he does notbhavevthe same consistency. He will always NEED a better car to have a go on a championship, for as long as Max is on the grid.

  • @august5192

    He only got a faster car much later in the season, so i dunno bout “this was the season”. And Max got the perfectly timed ending of VSC, as well as a nice red flag (maybe would have been called either way bc of the weather) giving him the upper hand. So yes great drive from verstappen but he had a fast af car and had a bit of luck go his way, so it wasnt just his skills getting him that W

      We actually disagree on this. Luther thinks Verstappen, I (Yani) actually think Hamilton. But it's so close, man. They were both worthy champions. That's why we want more seasons like 2021! Elite drivers competing for the title. Who do you think was more deserving?

    2:05 at that point, definitely, he won because of "luck" and rule interpretation in his advantage, no one can deny it was a bit weird to say the least. But to be fair, neither can anyone deny that, if the FIA did their job properly the entire season, it wouldn't have come down to the last lap of the last race. Rather Max would have won the title with races to spare. This season gives off somewhat similar vibes, it feels like Fia is trying to script it and Max not playing along.

    The commentary from both of you are truely honest. I dont understand Norris at all with "no talent, pure luck" at Verstappen comment. Comming from a guy starting at P1 against a driver comming from P17 under extreme conditions, and finaly getting 31 sec gap with P6 at the Finnish for Norris.(+2 times of track cause couldnt handle his car) Whats the outcome of Norris total race progression then called?? Talentless and no drivingskills for sure. What a Tool

    I have been watching F1 for 45 years. This was one of the greatest drives of all time. There are caveats to the win, but he had the outstanding raw talent to make it happen. The RB has a lot of very efficient downforce (as always), excellent mechanical grip (as always) and it had a brand-new engine in the back, so in essence it was very similar circumstances to Hamiltons win in 2021. In the wet, with no DRS, the RB showed the power and grip that the car had. It was a distinctly impressive in max's hands, so the lack of a DRS was not really a handicap as the car had a significant traction advantage and was 0.5 seconds faster through sector 2 for the entire weekend (Wet and dry), despite the McLarens taking the sprint win. Hamiltons drive in 2021 was impressive, but he also had a huge power advantage from a new PU. I am leaning towards Hamiltons 2021 race win as greater. In 2021 the pressure on Hamilton was massive, trying to close in on a WDC, pushed to 20th place in the sprint by an infringement of the technical regulations and a 5-place grid penalty in the race for a new PU. Hamilton made up 25 places over the race weekend. 15 in the sprint and 10 in the race. Of the 17 places Max made up, Albon (7th) and Stroll (10th) were out before the start, so in essence max started P15. Still a tall order. Max had the luxury of a 44-point gap in 2024 and the option of punting Norris into row Z at any opportunity. Max had a bit of help from poor decision making by Mclaren and Mercedes (Pitting at the end of a virtual safety car with an 11 second gap and track position was very stupid), plus a red flag to help him with the tyre change, but be in no doubt, max's drive was world class and a good distance from being "lucky". So are you being a max fanboy? Definitely, but you have every reason to be. Norris has had the best car for most of the season, so should have been closer to Max in the WDC. Norris is not in the same league as Max and is unlikely to ever get there. Piastri seems to be a lot more ruthless, so I think the McLarens will spend most of next season taking points off each other...again. Next year, Max will have to go some, to win the WDC if RB do not improve the engine. The PU is a big weakness in that car at the moment as max is on engine number 6 for the season. It has one or 2 races and starts losing horsepower. First win in 11 races shows how far the RB has fell off the pace and the only thing that appeared to be keeping them ahead of the rest, was the split brake set up. Perez struggles to get into the top 10. WDC is definitely secured for max in 2024. How many years has the split brake set up been run for? It was essentially running like the Mclaren MP4/12 which had 2 brake pedals for the same reason, to turn the car into a corner without understeer. Coulthard and Hakinnen were also very quick, until the dual braking system was banned. There was a reason that this regulation was clearly written into the technical directive, and RB clearly breached that regulation. The issue is, nobody knows how long the RB has had this advantage because it took the FIA scrutineers up to an embarrassing 2 and a half years to spot it. This means that max has 4 WDC to his name, so well-done RB and well played. To become a multiple WDC, you need to have world class driving talent and a car advantage. Max has lost the car advantage, which makes the Sau Paulo win yesterday, even more impressive.

      @YOURBOYS วันที่ผ่านมา

      We loved your analysis of Hamilton and Verstappen's Brazil victories! Thank you so much for this! The 'option of punting Norris into row z at any opportunity' made us laugh haha! You make a good point with Albon and Stroll being absent thus Max theoretically started 15th, but still, as you say, a tall order. Also regarding Max having the luxury of a 44-point gap and the red flag. It's cool to see you think Hamilton's was slightly better and we do still favour Max's one, given that it seemed he was also fighting the FIA too, for many weeks haha for that matter. The split braking is an interesting one which we will probably go more into detail at some point as a lot of fans talk about this! But we certainly agree with you on Max being in a different league to Norris, we also found Norris's post race comments hugely disrespectful and lacking class. You simply cannot say there's no talent involved, just luck. You respect your peers, your competition, especially when you've witnessed a masterclass in racing. One that is so rare and only the creme de la creme do it! We cannot wait for next year's championship, it has all the ingredients to be on of the best...Or famous last words? 🤔

    Haha beautifully said guys, love it:-) I don't really believe that we can say here that this was one of Max's best races .... but rather that this was one of the best performances ever in the history of formula 1:-) Max actually made Lewis' tribute to Senna seem a bit ridiculous, without wanting to. How Lewis must now feel the same kind of admiration for max verstappen:-) The funny thing is the always unbridled glorification of Lewis for Ayrton Senna and the disrespectful way in which he judges and speaks out about Max Verstappen. While Senna, just like Verstappen, was actually just a hard bastard and did everything for the win and regularly sought the edge of the rules! With this race Max has made it clear to everyone worldwide who the GOAT is! With only a Senna and Schumacher who follow in honor with their heads held high.

    The problem for a guy like Lando is not that he is not good and cant be WDC in a good car. He just happens to race in era where a generational talent is driving too who doesn't even need the best car to win it. Like god forbid there wouldn't even be challenge if Max was in that Mclaren.
