    Great video, thinking about getting this one for the Bluetooth capability, I have the PRW-6800, PRW-2500, PRW-3400, PRG-600 and they are all great watches.

    • @AskDaveTaylor

      An impressive lineup, Tom. How would you differentiate between them? Looks and color? Functionality?

    • @tcwhite0104
      @tcwhite0104 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AskDaveTaylor Thanks. well hmm the 6800 and 600 can also be used with any style clothing or function where as the 2500 and 3400 more towards rugged outdoors I tend to wear those for hiking and forestry when out doing wildlife photography and the 3400 has sunset sun rise functionality. The 2500 I like the most is the display with displaying Tide as well as area of the screen to store and display the bearing memory. Plus the 2500 displays moon phase. I also have most of the models that Timex made for compass, temp, tide, time. They are very cool analogs. Also have most of the Timex flyback and linear chronographs done with compass and what I like about those they have a constant main second hand so they have a 4th hand used for compass and chronograph.

    Hi Dave. Just watched your video Pro Trek PRT-50. I’ve watched several on this watch, and after seeing yours I went ahead and bought one. Very clear and to the point. looking forward to the next one as I’m a collector of watches and have just got into Casio/ G Shock. Just subscribed as well.

  • @muzzaball
    @muzzaball 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I enjoyed this short and fun wrap-up of the Pro Trek B50, but when Dave said 'not really much else to say' I thought I better chime in and say that there are other vids about this watch, which go for much longer, and are a lot more in-depth - because this watch does have a ton of features. Cheers.

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, it has a lot of features, but I always try to focus on the most popular and most interesting since an exhaustive list can be obtained from Casio's Web site or documentation...

      @@AskDaveTaylor oh, absolutely Dave - I agree. That was why I started with saying that I enjoyed ur vid. I just wanted ppl to know that if you are looking to buy, check out all the features first, then make ur decision. Cheers mate.

    Nice backdrop Dave. I like the look of the Pro Trek but I wish it had solar charge and a sapphire crystal. That being said, I have a Rangeman (GW-9400) and love that watch, it's solar charge but after about two years, the battery shit itself and you can't change it. I also have the GPR-B1000 which is solar/USB charge and never had to manually charge it. So I guess I just got a lemon. Great review Dave!

    2020 and im just finding out watches have this kind of tech. How does Walmart have the same watches but cheaper than the manufacturer? I bought a Armitron and it was 15$ cheaper than the website.

    Good review. I'll probably get one. As best I can tell you answered most of the questions I would have except one. When you are out of the reach of cell phone signals do you navigation features or other features go dark? What happens then? I'm thinking of some friends of mine who do open ocean sailing. Would you lose certain features (or all of them) once you get 100 miles off shore?

    Thanks for the video Dave. Would like to have seen how to set it upto the phone app and a bit more detail of the app. Does it take long to set up and can you use all the functions of the watch on the app ?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The app is a completely different beast and fairly complex in its own right. Pro Trek has some videos on its site about the app, if I recall correctly, and I suggest you check them out. If not, look here on TH-cam.

  • @Larry2463

    Hi, maybe you can help me. Or, at least point me in the right direction to get help. I bought this exact watch and I think I got a bad one.. Everything works as it should except the analog hands don't adjust (They're stuck at 3:05) I set my home city correctly and it does pair to the app. Shouldn't pairing to the app adjust the hands of the watch as well as everything else. I tried a manual hand adjustment and the second hand does move but not the hour and minute hands. Do you happen to know if there's any way of determining if the watch is broken? I realize it could be anything from a weak battery to goodness knows what else. I just hate to think I have to pour more money, right off, into a recently purchased "new" watch. I value your opinion and would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Thank you in advance.

  • @agentdeltavictor5120
    @agentdeltavictor5120 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please include a lume review. Specifically, turn off the studio lights or get into a dark room and show how well (or not so well) the watch lights up either by luminosity or a push button on the watch.

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's going to be entirely subjective on whether my camera can handle pitch dark and/or how it may process the signal to illuminate it better. Not sure it would really be helpful, ADV.

      @AskDaveTaylor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. The problem with shooting in the "wild" is that it's hard to get it lit, get sound right, manage the environment around me, etc. Trust me, you learn why a 90min film takes two years to make!

    what can it offer if you dont have it connected with bluetooth? does the waypoint gps feature still work. Can you do a hike with just the watch and come back anad connect with bluetooth does the whole run show up?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I understand, yes, you can still capture your run and you can still set waypoints as you go, then just download all the data when you're back with your bluetooth device.
