  • This week we're picking back up with interior projects on our 1968 PlayMor starting with shoring up the bed to make it sturdy enough for a good night's sleep and easy to pull back and forth and convert from a couch to bed when needed.
Do you actually convert your bed to a couch/dinette or do you leave it set up as a bed more in your camper? Tell us in the comments!

Hi! Just came across your videos, great work! Can I just ask what clamps you were using for the bed frame at 1:42? They look like a really handy clamp.

Thanks! Those are just the simple right angle framing clamps that you can find at most hardware stores. They work okay, but I was actually just looking at Kreg's 90⁰ clamps last night, and they do look really handy but a little pricey.

QUESTION; How did you end up with an unfinished area in the back above the bed, did you not remove the skin in that area or? I know there’s a good reason, great videos, quality work too, thanks

No, all the skins were removed, but the back end was so rotted away that I didn't really know what was there to begin with and my assumptions on how to rebuild it didn't work out very well, so I wound up having to rebuild it from the inside. Basically the wall should have come straight down from the back wall over the trunk area, and I thought I could curve it back and get some extra space for the bed. Lesson learned.

Thanks for posting these great videos! What do you do with the mattress when the bed isn’t slid out? I’m weighing the pros and cons of a slide out versus having a larger bed permanently configured l. Thanks!

Well, the mattress is in two pieces so that it can slide in and become a couch, but honestly whenever we've used it, we never convert it into couch-mode, so I wish I would've just made it as a permanent bed with a lift-up top. Someday I need to go back and reconfigure and rebuild the cabinets underneath to make it more useable back there.

Nice Job. I haven't followed all Of Your build, but intend to go back and look it over.

This looks great. We are very new to renovating and not knowledgeable about wood working but still want to try. What type of wood did you use for the bed? Also for your walls? Thank you!

Thanks for watching, Heather! For the bed platform we used 1/2" birch plywood and for the walls, we used 1/4" birch plywood. You can see the process of us rebuilding the walls and everything we used in this video: th-cam.com/video/8VTgD6vOFVc/w-d-xo.html
