- Seriously... this is the best game of the entire Tekken series and you guys need to understand why I think so! I play through Tekken Tag Tournament arcade mode and honestly, I feel so much love for this game. Let me know if you guys like this game or think this is one of the best Tekken games!

My parents bought me an my brother a PS2 with Tekken TT and Jak and Daxter back in the day, but due to a stock issue at the catalogues warehouse the PS2 didn't come until a few months after the games, so for two months I just stared at the box and manual for Tekken, trying to memorise the combos...which I didn't.
Was a HUGE fan and competitor in the TK2 and TK3 space. But all of my best memories (and success in the arcades and in tourneys) was TTT

Holy shit, may I ask what was tekken 2 and 3 like to play competitively? I still can't believe the orginal tekken 3 was released in arcade in 1996!!!.. really ahead of its time

Tekken tag 2 was my favorite, it turned up everything about tekken tag 1 and it had the all star roster. Plus snoop dogg is in it.

this game got me into Tekken, i found a copy of it at a gas station and got hooked on how fun it was to move around and do combos. i don't have the game anymore bc my family threw it out bc of devil but it will always have a special place in my heart

Tag 1 is a special game to me. Lots of memories and reminds me of a more carefree time. Best Tekken ever.
It's funny. I was gonna be like, "Man, he's really saying Tag 1 was the best Tekken? Better than...", and I couldn't honestly fill in the blank 🤣
2003 I'm in college. We have an arcade on campus. It has 3rd Strike, MvC2, Power Stone, TTT, Street Fighter EX2 for fighting games. Funny thing was everybody played 3rd Strike and EX2 and were VERY good at them. No Tekken players forced me to learn EX2 and 3S. TTT was the best.

Depending on the arcade you went to, sometimes the game technician would adjust the difficulty from 1 Star to the last star wondering why the first character went ape shit on me🤔
#Retroman2000 the owner/technician did same BS on me before he opened the arcade lol. But we are now friends after 15 years and he doesn't do that to me anymore but does it to other clients XD

This technician setting that difficulty didnt know he was unintentionally breeding a new type of fighter. He set the birth place of legends that would change fighting games forever and rise to the top of the world. Their names echoing in the heavens. This is what champions were made off.
Tekken Bowl used to be my favorite except when they give you the music of shame after you accidentally hit a gutterball😄

Have so many memories with Tekken Tag. Both in the arcade and PS2 version. In the arcade, the line was forever between MvC2 and Tekken Tag. The funny thing was the PS2 version looked better than the arcade version as in graphic. Did a PvP house tournament and then bought the multi-adapter to do 2player vs 2player. Man, it suck being on the losing team without switching character when playing 2 player vs 2 player because you sometimes don't even get to play.
I love this game. Many an hour was wasted in the barracks playing this game against my buddies when I was stationed in Italy.
More throw breaks from Justin in this than we see in his XvSF videos 🙂
Good roster. Tag combos, new tag mechanics (slide and shoulder tackle), flashy tag throws. Still love the armor king/king tag throws. Baek and Hwoarang’s were also sick.
I played this game in tournament all throughout Texas. Back when you actually had to land combos without a wall or wall bounce.
I've played Tekken since the first one... TTT was indeed special.
You should also play Tekken 4. It has elements that almost no other fighting game has to this very day, and it came out in 2001.
In before people start commenting about TTT's balance issues even though the game is so good they're easy to look past and enjoy.
Yeah, I mean, the balance had issues in tip-top level play, but for 99% of players, it was good enough to have fun with most of the cast 🤷♂️
@@Ash__Adler At the risk of sounding like an old man, games like TTT where the game was balanced on the player-end, not through patches, is something that is lost to time and I miss it. Learning how to deal with my friend's True Ogre legitimately made me a better all-round fighting game player; it taught me how to be patient, how to move intelligently, and, most of the time, how to take a loss lol.
@@loranriser2989 I mean, I'm not going to argue in favor of constant balance tweaks to reach some theoretic perfect state because that's stupid and impossible 😅 But let's not act like pre-online designers were some kind of geniuses that current devs can't measure up to. If they could've adjusted balance, they would've (I mean, that's basically what the whole SF2 line was, to name one obvious example).
That said, I agree completely that leaving it up to the players to figure out how to play is the better choice 🙂

Some of the older Tekken people may remember this name, but yeah...Tekken Tag 1 was a HUGE influence on the Tekken community and really catapulted the Tekken Zaibatsu site as THE unofficial source for Tekken information back in the day. Not sure about any players post 2008, but Tekken Tag 1 is usually considered the best overall Tekken game. Good times. Fun fact: When the Zaibatsu site relaunched in Jan 2000, I posted one of the first (if not the first) tournaments in their Tournament section.

Tekken tag is probably my favorite fighting game or at least tied with CvS2...I do some pretty unfair schtuff with Heihachi and Michelle (or Hwaorang) I got all the combos memorized easily from how many times I whooped all of my friends back in the day. I seriously regret never competing with this game back then. I respect anyone that has yoshimitsu mastered. I personally think the most fun character to use is Dr boskonovich

When my dad got me a PS2 for my birthday, he also got me Tekken Tag Tournament as well. I still own that copy to this very day.
Still my favorite Tekken. Was disappointing they didn't include an online mode when they did that "Tekken Hybrid" PS3 port.

This game came with my PS2! (along with Metal Arms) I played the piss out of Tag 1, it just felt like 'we took everything great from Tekken1-3 and put it into one game' you must be playing the arcade version or something cuz I remember the stages and music being different
TTT is an awesome game. I remember playing 4 players (2 on 2) with my friends. Best of times!
I think TTT was probably their first big crossover hit. Back in the day there was Street Fighter Players and there was Tekken Players. This was the first time I can remember a Tekken game drew the competitive SF crowd and casuals.
Tag 1 is still graphically impressive to this day, and its soundtrack is unparalleled.

I remember when i was a kid, I was playing TTT and then someone stole my phone in my pocket.. I cried for like 5 mins and got back to playing like nothing happened 😂
Justin understands me. Tekken is one of my fav fighting game series, but the newer ones don't feel like Tekken. I stopped at Tekken Tag 2 which I still play.
TTT1 was the first fighting game I ever played as a kid. I remember getting so hype at Christmas when my mom bought us a PS2 and it had this game. I even bought the Prima Strategy guide for this as well. So many good memories.

When Tekken 4 came out. That is when I stopped doing tournies for Tekken. It just didn't feel like the same game anymore. Plus they broke my Heihachi.
Also Tekken Tag was one of the few games that you can enable progressive scan for which made it look better.
Early Tekken was really special. Its all about the in game lighting. It was very atmospheric. I don't play this game. But even then i am drawn to how right it looked.
Back in the day at one arcade I was used to play it, they disabled the ability to continue the game if you lose a match in order to make it harder than usual, still, people didn't really complain given the fact that they were able to reach the boss consistenlty.

Iirc on the 5th hit in a tekken ten string, its usually a high or low with a few exceptions from certain characters.
That arcade music frustrates me because I've only ever played the PS2 and PS3 version of this game so I'm not used to the arcade versions.
This one at least got a remaster for PS3.
I really wish all the Tekken games would come out for the Switch.
Tag 1 Julia was the most fun i've ever had in a fighting game I wore out so man PS2 pads grinding the game to get better.

I agree. I played some Tekken vs national competitors (SC was my jam) and even though I like most of them, TTT is the best by far.
I second that notion. TTT just needed T5's crush system and allow you to continue when a teammate was defeated.

Back in the day, I learned every single Tekken 3 move from every character, and I thought I was the best player ever, so a friend told me to take my ps2 to his place so we could play some Tekken Tag. So I did, and the guy beat me like 100-1, the only time I beat him was because I cheated. It turns out he was a pro player, and he knew actually how to play and I was just a button masher.
It's wild that Tekken lets you fight as animals.
You know another game that lets you fight with animals? SNES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters. You should give that a try.

Thank you for playing the arcade version. The ps2 version felt stiff and some interactions were just wonky compared to the arcade.

Also man if you want to be more effective in tekken bro. Learn to hold block and use command grabs does way more damage! But mostly its a rotation 3D game if you don't move around and execute specific rotation combos that's like for any 3D game!
