This song brings me back to 1985 when I was 13. Spinning Yes Songs, the live album, on my mom’s record player listening to this song and being blown away. Every time I hear it brings me back. It is my favorite Yes song.

Kudos to Yes producer Eddy Offord for getting the mix. This song has fantastic riffs overlaying each other: synths, bass and guitar. Anderson's voice is the 5th instrument. Yes, Wakeman is playing the harpsichord. He plays analogue and synthetic equally well. Siberian Khatru has been the band opener on many concerts. The Firebird Suite finale builds and Yes suspends you as they transition into the explosive first chords. In my view Yessongs has the best versions of each song from The Yes Album; Fragile; and CTTE.

This song was the show opener on most our setlists. The live album Yessongs features it preferred by the classic "entrance music" the band would often walk onto the stage with, Firebird Suite by Stravinski. It gives a good feeling of what it felt like to see a live show. And the live version is even better than the studio. Try it out some day just for yourself.

Jon Anderson once said take what you will from the lyrics. Words were often chosen for the sound as Anderson regarded his voice as an instrument and desired a particular sound.

Ladies and gentlemen YES the greatest show on earth. Prog meets funkadilick in 72. All natural voices, no Autotune! Talent ruled the day and Yes were better live.

Yes is probably the greatest, most foundational of all prog bands. The Yes Album, Close to the Edge, and Fragile are what I call the holy trinity: three albums of some of the most complex, rocking, beautiful music humans have ever experienced. All members are virtuosos on their instruments and have played solo or in other bands creating so much music it would take many weeks to hear it all. On top of that, their collective song writing skills are singular and ethereal. Nothing like it. Enjoy.

And as always with Yes ... Chris Squire on the bass is from another galaxy!!!

This song was my first exposure to Yes and it happened when I "borrowed" my older brother's Yessongs album, which was a live recording of their best songs before and including Close To The Edge. Yessongs is still my favorite version of Siberian Khatru.

I agree, you gotta really love music to create something like this. Maybe songwriters today are not loving it enough and only using music because they're loving the wrong thing

Bluegrass/County/Western guitar, Classical keyboards, Jazz Drums, the meanest Rock 'n Roll bass ever, and a male alto singing, when Rock 'n Roll was still all tenors doing falsetto. What kind of music is it? Yes.

I think the reason metal doesn't have a lot of sound cloud stars is that they are a group that plays real instruments .

Don't look for any certain meaning to the lyrics. It was more about the way the lyrics flowed with the music. They are an instrument in their own rite.

Mostly agree with the assessment of today's prog. Mostly pretty boring. Even Yes can't do Yes anymore when it comes to composition. All versions of the group do the old classics well, but the new stuff they've turned out in recent years just doesn't have the same complexity or drive.
