INSANE CF-18 HORNET DEMO 425 TACTICAL FIGHTER SQN PILOT DEMONSTRATES F-18 AGILITY • RAF FAIRFORD

- This is a gold dusted salmon of a demo from the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-188A of the 425 TACTICAL FIGHTER SQUADRON / CF-18 DEMO TEAM on Wednesday's practice display at RAF Fairford.
What are the differences between Canada's CF-18 Hornet and the usual F-18 Hornets? Well the CF-18 are carrier based Hornets with a few modifications. The really cool difference is primitive but very effective; a false canopy! There is a painted false canopy directly underneath the fuselage of the Hornet, right below the real cockpit. The idea is cause confusion when engaging in dogfights, causing some disorientation to enemy pilots. Pilots engaging in dogfights rely on keeping a physical visual lock on their opponent, so seeing the fake cockpit would confuse or disorientate their opponent. The RCAF decided to keep all of the features that come standard as a carrier jet such as carrier strengthened tailhook, reinforced landing gear and even the folding wings.

What an insane routine. Hats off to the pilot and the F18.
hope he takes it easy on it. Our other one is still in the shop..
Our boys out making us proud.
Wow! The hornet still has energy to maneuver at such high angles of attack and low speeds. That's what's so impressive. There's nothing like old school fighter jets! Thanks for the demo, RCAF!
It is a superb aircraft
Love the older jets, F15, F16 and F18s……insane that roll on take off with undercarriage still down❤🫡
Oii oiii Captain A 🤙🏼 such iconic and brilliant aircraft
Never seen such Aces flying before. Stunning!
Ooohhhh yeah
@@TedConingsby I love how Ted's replies offer a translation into English. I wish it worked. hehe.
WOW! That was something else..Canadian, and there was me thinking it was Tom Cruise!😉. Thanks Nikos...
😆😆 "Talk to me Maverick" ! 😆
@@margobaxter8344 👍😜
@@roypowell3450 it was an incredible display or ...was that just a practice!? 🤔😍
@@margobaxter8344 Hope it was just a practice! 😉
Awesome show! I remember a military airshow back in 1983 when the cf 18 "flew" past us in that nose high slow speed attitude. Except he did it 20 feet off the runway for 800 feet or so, just so we could see our new fighter. Then straight up like a rocket. Thanks for uploading this, I still love our cf 18's!
Now that is outstanding. How to turn a jet around a right angle. No let up. F18 just terrific. You did well to follow it? Nikos. Moves magnificently. Max alpha was epic. Talk about sit up and beg! Canadian Air Force magic. Im gonna get to see an F18 in all its glory. Nailed it Ted, Nailed it Nikos..
Oii oiii Dan thanks man
By the way. I have to agree.. The F18 lighting the skies up here. The shifts in angles, speed and orientation is difficult not to impressed. One Mean performing Jet.
“Tango” Caleb Robert killing it like always 🇨🇦 canadian proud. Anyone who isn’t familiar with the CF-18 demo team. Thats what this was, this is the spare aircraft we bring with them. But we have our main demo jet that is painted each year in special livery. This year its blue with a bunch of mechanical gears and binary numeric code on it and also the different RCAF aircraft painted on the tail celebrating 100 years of the Royal Canadian air force. Has the red bars on either end of the wings like our Canadian flag.
It was an impressive demo
I grew up next to CFB Comox, I've seen that CF-18 demo more times than I can count and I never get bored of it.
So proud of our Air Force representing abroad! Great work, great content and greetings from across the pond Nikos!!
Same!
Oiii oiiii thank you so much
RCAF!! woot woot
such an incredible display by the pilot, flying that thing like he stole it!!
He really had big fun flying this display 😂 great pilot, great f18, great video Ted! Thx a lot! „Servus“ from Munich, Jochen
..sorry, i know your name is Nikos - just wrote Ted, the SQN Leader 👍🏻🙋♂️
Oiii oiii thank you so much
Fantastic demo from ‘Tango’ Robert, an obviously skilled pilot. The Finnish Air Force team may recruit you.
Well done, Sir!
That was an impressive display, as is your camerawork!
This practice display from the Canadian CF-18 is incredible with amazing transition moves at speed and extremely well captured thank you Nikos.
Oii oiiii it sure was
They used the backup aircraft for the practice the other one is painted for the 100 years of the RCAF, did you see the full painted one ??
4.19 ❤❤❤ Cruisin’, music on, elbow out the window, and straight into WOOHOO!! Thx for posting!
Just wow! Amazing piloting skills on display, and great capture by Nikos. 🇨🇦
I was screaming at the tv lol
@@angbaker8549 Me too! 👋🏻😃🤣
Oii Oii Ellesee thank you so much. It was a brilliant display and Nikos did us proud
Fantastic to see a CF-18 demo in Europe again. I miss the days when Canadians had more than 50 of their Hornets based here in Germany in the 80s and 90s... Great filming Ted!
Thank you so much
I remember very well the time we were at Base Baden, Lahr, what a very costly mistake to close those RCAF bases at every levels 😢
The RCAF had 75 'spankin' 18's in CFE baby.
Planetastic! Very skilled pilot in a very coool plane 🤩😁🤠 OH, and very good camera work 🤗🤗
Thank you
That's making a mockery of gravity. No plane should be able to do some of that stuff. Awesome!
It was so good
Wow! It's awesome when we get to see some of the more rare to our airspace aircraft in the skies above us and this is spectacular.
Fantastic! ✌️😎
Thank you. 🙏
Oii oiii Rob
Fantastic, everyday there's something special on Ted's streams. This is one of millions of 'em ❤️
Thanks Margo
Absolutely brilliant- excellent flying display but I don’t know how Nikos manages to follow them! Thanks Nikos, fantastic camera work! 😊
Oiii oiii Jan so good to see you today with Andy ooooooooohhhh yeah
@@TedConingsby Oii Oii Nikos! Great to meet you. Surprised to see you but it was fab! We had a great day and really enjoyed it! Thanks for interacting with us!
THAT WAS THE absolute BEST CF18 dEMO I HAVE EVER SEEN.. Great footage as well. Loosing faith in our air force and out out dated fragile F18s but this defiantly make me proud to be canadian 100 %..
Thank you very much. This is one of Nikos’ favourite display
Amazing flying and camera work, thanks Nikos.
Thanks Keith
did'nt expect it to be this good f18
Ooohhh yeah
Simply AMAZING!!! No way Leo wasn't impressed. 👊🏻
yo! camp ted!! the f18 was awesome well captured Nikos an ted great camera ship!!
Oii Oii
Wonderful. Great aircraft, really great pilot, and great camera. Many thanks.
Thank you
They may be old but man did that pilot sure make our CF-18 look brand new. The high alpha that the Hornet can pull is something else. Will be nice to get the brand new F-35s but these Hornets are still super cool.
It is a superb aircraft
Turbos got some competition to get best in show this year 😱
He’ll always get my vote though 😂⭐️
F/A-18, one of my favourite aircraft, what a beauty. Still relevant today even with all the 5th gen stealth aircraft! Brilliant display, incredible pilot!
Oii Oii Jim what an amazing display
Brilliant flying by a very talented pilot in one of the coolest planes of the modern era. Very proud of the RCAF! They represent Canada so well!
Really good display
Ahh yeah, awesome flying and cracking camiera work ,really enjoyed that ,thank you
Thank you so much
Twistin' the atmosphere in knots!!!
What a display that was and great camera work nikos
Thanks Mike
amazing stream Ted and Nikos the CF18 was outstanding.
Thank you
Hi from Ottawa. Can’t wait for the airshow here in Sept.
awesome jet, thanks for sharing
Thank you. It sure is awesome
Very very good! How does Ted hold the camera and work the zoom with his little paws? 🤣🤣
Wow! So agile. Great post Ted.
Thank you so much. It sure is
The legacy Hornet is still my favourite fast jet at a show. Those moves never get old, but he put some great twists on various manoeuvres there. Just when I thought it was something I'd seen before he varied it up. Great stuff. And yet another air force flying the jet better than the Americans do 😂
Awesome camera work 😮❤🇨🇦 Incredible pilot. Right on eh?!?
Oii Oii thank you
Gee, it's not only 🇺🇲 pilots who can fly!
That 🇨🇦 pilot puts on a nice show! Pretty cool stuff with landing gear down!
There's a few others...734.
This is awesome 😎
Good day Sir, 425 Is The Best TFS In The World 👍😇👌Thank You Sir Cheers 🍻🍻
I love vintage aircraft !
wicked!!
that must be the right word
Incredible aircraft, so agile
Oii oiii
Hehe pretty awesome and cool aerial display on this CF-188A Hornet 😊
Ooohhh yeah
Its allways f18s that impress me the most at riat and other air shows, seriously manouvarable
They are incredible
FANTASTIC VIDEO ❤️❤️
Thank you
Even though our cr-18 have the hook and launch bar we only use the hook for emergency landings and non of our guys are trained to land on a air craft carrier. they could all be very easily and quickly trained to land on the boat if needed. Really hope "Tango" the Demo pilot flys the painted jet for you and does the full demo.from the 3 shows I have seen him at this year he flys 1 of the 3 days way more aggressively.
4:20 is called the 'high alpha pass'
We used to see them at every hornet demo here in australia. The f35 does it as well, but the hornets just seemed more sporty than the bigger, weightier f35
High / Max Alpha both used universally
F18 is a such a stunning aircraft
Check out the Swiss display one with updated fly by wire system
Sure is
That was insain
Oohh yeah
This is indeed insane
Wow !!
Makes me proud as a Canadian dang that was some insane skill , if was in that plane I would need a large bin liner lol, imaginating the G's yikes !
It was an impressive display
@@TedConingsby CF-18 will be replaced in the 2030's with the F-35a also reading Canada will continue to update the CF-18 hornets avionics until 2034 which is great watching this again this is real top gun flying , that pilot is having a blast lol
THAT ROCKS🔥💪🇺🇸🔥👍👍👍👍👍👄♥️🔥🇺🇸🔥
Oohh yeah
OHH YEAH!
So happy that they are again the ROYAL Canadian Air Force.
Very very great display but I must ask, isn’t it meant to be a beautiful blue livery?
Blue Angels that would be
@@ianc8814no. We have a blue one too. Its the CF-18 demo jet.
It is. This is the spare one. They always bring 2.
@@ianc8814 😂😂😂
@@trfmusic902 ohhh ok,makes sense cheers
True North, strong and free!!
I love our CF-18 pilots, but the Swiss Hornet demo team is unmatched. They fly their aircraft as if they have the thrust vectoring of an F-22.
I’m Canadian too and i agree but let’s not forget that (i think) the Swiss have better/newer updated avionics so they can push even more that stylish jet.
CF-188 👍
salut bien, l'Alouette!...plein vapeur, copain!
And now because that jet is like 42 years old it's gonna need like 500 hours of maintenance after this flight
😂
looks like he had to use the spare, that plane is usually the static display Hornet (with operational paint) while the Demo Hornet has the special paint scheme, the Demo Hornet must have needed a little maintenance with all the abuse they put it thru.
All demo teams usually bring a spare. The “Blue Gear” livery did display on the Saturday and Sunday
decent , but the Swiss f18 tops it for me with its no aoa limits 😜
Plus it's got that fold out corkscrew attachment. 😂😂

Just Fantastic in every way
