Dr, A.Ekambaranathan ,Archaeologist says a temple for Sri Parswanatha Tirthankara by Pannabbe. Lord Parswanatha is praised as Pannaa nizhar Peruman and Pannakeswarar in Jain Thotrams. Hence the name.( Refer Thondai Nattu Samana Koiyilgal, page-31 published in 1991, 30 years ago.
