As far as estates go, yes. Although, I personally prefer the safety of a walled city. That is why I like Hjerim so much. The only problem is the city in which Hjerim is located... I just don't like Windhelm.
@@dmprotector well in this case Solitude will be a better option. Located on the cliff, has only one narrow entrance, has its own castle, has better climate and it is a nice city overall.
@@Guar_gum Yeah, I totally agree. But I somehow prefer the large open rooms of Hjerim to Proudspire Manor's multi-level housing. Don't get me wrong, Proudspire Manor is really nice, but it is a big house that feels like a tiny house.
@@somebloke3869 No. You've got to first complete the quest "Blood On The Ice", then either complete "Rescue From Fort Neugrad" for the Stormcloaks or the whole Civil War questline for the Imperials.
Lakeview is the best home to keep private. Store all your things and have a private little mansion. But Whiterun and Solitude are by far the most family-friendly places to live.
everything the wilderness could teach my kids they learned growing up on the streets of windhelm surrounded by murders or sleeping on the ground outside some stables/inn or whatever. hopefully some love, security, and friends to play with will keep them from ending up as some filthy drunken stormcloaks.
Started my first new playthrough in six years. Lakeview was the first house I bought. And I moved a family in there, all good for sometime but then I found Meko. He would knock everything over and made a mess so i moved my family to Solitude and kept Lakeview as my adventuring home.
I wish I had bro's optimism
Always settle in Lakeview Manor, it is by far my favourite

@@dmprotectorcan you get Hjerim without doing any of the civil war quest?

You're raising a nord, not some dirty metropolitan imperial. No place would be better to grow up in than the wilderness.
