      Hi Dr Nemeth, I am considering getting laser periodontal treatment here in the UK. How many sessions and how often do you need the laser treatment? It's quite expensive so I wanted to know if it's 1a year or a few times a year so I can save enough money for it.

      The Pinhole Surgical Technique PST™ is a procedure in which Dr. Nasr uses specialized instruments to make a small hole in your gum and add collagen material to stabilize the area of gum recession. This new method is simple, suture-free and minimally invasive.

      try salt water gargles and keeping it in your mouth for at least 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times a day. Floss your teeth. Brush the gums gently!! Use a calcium phosphate topical cream like Tooth Mousse. Hope this helps. Disclosure; I am a daughter of a dentist and I have found too much dental work by dentists cause too many problems. The less intervention from their tools the better (if you can avoid it!) Try the home remedies. Good luck!!

      They will never tell you about it unless they can get something off of referring you. They claim that isnt how it works but thats nonsense.
      They will only tell you that grafting is the only way so they can refer you to a periodontist and then from there you get bounced around until maximum money is extracted from you only to hear that the procedure has a high fail rate and long recovery with tons of instructions that mustbe followed. If you dont follow exactly they will say "it wsnt the procedure it was poor recovery management".
      There has to be a better more certain way to repair recession.

    • @jensz9360
      @jensz9360 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was thinknig the same. My concern was that the bonding material would be so close to the gumline that it may cause the gum to recede further, so I am even on the fence about this.
      I wanted to do pinhole, but the recovery regimen is almost impossible to adhere to and the failure rate is too high for the cost and pain/recovery involved. Too much greed in the dental industry, so you have to take wha dentists tell you and think about what they have to gain by leading you down the wrong way.
      Like many dentists will see recession and not mention it until its too far and then they refer you to their periodontist buddies and then you get fleeced. Its hard to trust these people no matter what since you know the motivating factor for them is money. At the end of the day its you who will have to live with any problem and not them. As a matter of fact if the problem worsens its more money for them so its almost in their best interest to allow a problem to advance.

Wish I could add photos to TH-cam comment for the before, after, and now. I should mentioned there has been some recession back, about 10% if I have to estimate (probably because I don't wear the night guard as recommended and I am a heavy brusher when I clean my teeth.) From what I hear the gums start receding immediately after, even with proper care. I assume the reason depends on how much of the bone surrounding the teeth is left, you need bone under the gums if not there’s no support and it recedes. From other sources I heard it last until they become middle age or elderly

      It was likely due to the pressure the aligner put on your gums while straightening your teeth. This is common with braces too, but the orthodontists usually fail to mention anything about it and you can gue$$ why.
      Once they fleece money from you for braces then they can send you to the periodontist as a referral and get even more money. The dental indstry (liek most medical now) is full of greed and doctors who have a lot of student loan debt, expense of malpractice insurance, office costs etc. They will say and do whatever they think they can to get more money but in such a way that they dont endanger their license outright. Its become more about business for them than about dentistry or helping (no matter how nice they sem or what they say).
      I dont fully blame them though, they spent a lot of time and money on a degree and higher costs of doing business likely have them in a space between doing whats right for the patient and paying their bills. It doesnt excuse them from their decisions but it provides some perspective as to why they lie or lie by omission.

    I've heard the complete opposite from dentists here in Canada, saying the pin hole technique is unsuccessful with much better results with gum grafts. Almost impossible to get a straight answer from anyone nowadays. There has been some research in Israel using a foam on recessed K9 gums with specific growth factors that creates a scaffold for the stimulation of new gum cells creating new gum tissue. The research showed promising results in dogs and maybe they started human trials. Something to look into if you aren't a candidate for the pin hole technique. Imagine paying $1000 per tooth and the procedure fails. You've just wasted all that money and then you're going to have to try a different procedure. Maybe dentists should offer some money back guarantee if the procedure fails.

      @@andyirons7162 Sorry to hear that man. What did the dentist say was the reason for the failure? Do you have to redo the procedure or are you looking into the pinhole technique. @@hamidizadi It is not only the expense, but the pain and recovery that worries me. If its successful then it would be worth it, but paying that much for a "maybe" that has people not willing to do it. A money back guarantee with maybe a 2 year warranty would make me not hesitate. They can warranty other things and workmanship so why cant dentists?(I mean ...besides the greed, what reason is there for no warranty on their work) if they are confident they can do it?

    How can having the gums pulled up make the teeth more stable? Isn’t the bone what cause the teeth to stay rooted properly? The gums will help with teeth sensitivity and cosmetic purpose but if the germs are not removed then wouldn’t they be hidden by the gums and any gum disease still persists and continues to damage the bone under those gums?

    • @josephrnemeth
      @josephrnemeth  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Pinhole does make the teeth slightly more stable because of the thickened Gingiva. The bacteria is removed and had a harder time regrowing because there are no pockets for the germs to hide in. After Pinhole, the bone loss will be slowed or stopped completely. The thicker tissue will help to minimize further mobility or loosening of those teeth in the future.

      @@ariettyschmidt2129 Oh no that is horrible! Could it be due to the dentist's poor techniques? I think here could be so many factors involved as all our situations can be varied. If your once stable lower teeth become unstable, then the gums are probably not holding them properly now? They were originally fine but got disrupted by the pinhole surgery. Like they were originally attached to the teeth but somehow no much now. How long ago was the procedure? Maybe it needs time??? But it should not give such a problem. Why would your healthy teeth need pinhole? Don't they work on the recessed ones only? Do you use an electric toothbrush? I started using one that is designed for gums for a year and I have felt and seen that my gums actually started closing in, I definitely see that my black triangles became smaller (I used to have periodontitis for years and have a lot of gum recession) and my gums and teeth have become stronger! I never expect this to happen at all! I thought my state cannot be reversed except if I tried pinhole or possibly LANAP. I started using an electric toothbrush to help clean my teeth more properly (after diligent & GENTLE flossing with Dr Tung's floss only) because I just keep getting tartar build up easily on a few teeth with manual toothbrush. I was very against using an electric for years but I was so wrong. It really is good! I think the electric toothbrush's massaging vibrations actually help strengthen my gums and teeth!!! And rebuild gums! Some of my shaky teeth actually became less shaky! I do use it for longer than instructed in the manual. I first clean my teeth, massage my gums without any toothpaste (as it is abrasive) for about minutes. I rest the vibrating toothbrush on the shaky teeth too even though in the beginning it was quite sore but gradually no more sore as my teeth and gums became stronger!!! I also chew xylitol gums because it helps strengthen the bone of our teeth while neutralizing food acids and clean our teeth. I feel that my teeth and gums are so much healthier nowadays. Even my hygienist tells me that I do not have to see him four times a year now... just 3... so I have done some things right without even knowing! Without any dentist's help!!! Sorry for the long reply. If you can get onto a routine like this, I think your gums can become healthy again. Also have your seen that dentist or another dentist to assess your situation?? Because yours may be different from mine. Check whether those teeth are now having periodontitis or why are the gums not attaching after pinhole? If you have any questions, I will be happy to help!!! Our gums and teeth are so precious!!! We only have one set after losing the baby teeth!!!
