I have STEK dynoflex installed on my Model X. Needed two pieces due to the size of windshield. Happy with the installation. As recommended replaced OEM wipers with silicon wipers. Everything is fine until driving into the sun. The wiper scratches after 6-8 months is driving me crazy and has me questioning my rationale for installing. Some days I feel like just biting the bullet and pulling it off. Its supposed to have self healing properties . I am as picky as they come and my car is garage kept and totally covered in ppf. But I can't stop the build up of scratches nor have had much success using heat or hot water to diminish. While I appreciate the film offers some level of protection. I can't just drive on cloudy days.
FYI, if you have a front license plate or vanity plate raise it up in the middle as much as possible (this plate) alone will detour nearly anything coming into the glass, secondly, use a glass glaze or was solution which acts as a barrier to most objects and causes it to repel away without damage. This has worked for me in the last forty years not one scratch-YES:) Now just drive an extra two or three car spaces away when driving over 50 MPH which any unknown road objects should miss your vehicle.
I’m an Installer for TTM, I was waiting for a video like this to come out thank you. Saw it on Instagram and got curious, then you made the video. Nice!
Great video. I've been doing Vinyl applications on Vehicles for almost 20 years, have yet to do any tint or protective applications to windows. (Besides One-way window film.) This video raised my confidence that I could do it pretty easily. Thanks.
Your ability is amazing. You should be proud of yourself for mastering this task. I’m not convinced on the product itself though, putting PPF on the front windshield. Anyway it’s illegal in my country to put any film on the front windshield so that’s the end of that.
I wonder how it would be with polarized sunglasses. I had PPF on the hood that looked like air pockets and oil slick with my red Oakley polarized sunglasses but other than that i wish i knew about using it on the windshield as it gets really abused. Amazing video!
Great job on your walk through & the job. I would love to talk to you on learning how to do it & add to my business. But keep up the great work my man.
I wanted to get this installed at my local tint shop and they said it's for preventing rock chips on your windshield and yes the wipers scratch the film like crazy. Lasts only a few months and you should only install it if you're planning to track your car so the film is more of a one time use. Plus, its really expensive.
I have had this film on my Tesla since it came out and it is barely scratched from wipers. Its an excellent material to alleviate pitting and chips in your vehicles windshield
@@purplemonkeys11 obviously you use your wipers when the slightest drop of rain hits-let the screen get wet first. Secondly, you don't wash your car often or keep wiper blades in good condition. I can imagine you driving down the road with the classic windscreen wiper pattern of dirt around the edge of the screen. I've fitted some here in Australia and both cars still look like new after 3yrs-20,000km on one and 15,000km on the other so I'd say it's the way you treated it,not the product.
i have noticed you always have a nice polo on and so do your employees. I seen you said you use that OGIO brand is there a particular website that you are ordering them from with your logo? It look super sharp and professional. Also are those collar shirts like a drifit material or are they cotton.
Glass has a Moh`s scale hardness of 5.5.My concern is what is the hardness or abrasion resistance of the DynoFlex? How does t resist the windshield wipers constant abrasion?
For ppf film such as this you can use alcohol and water solution to stick it. Makes the glue adhere almost instantly. Been installing ppf for a long time this has been the solution I've used for years
Ya the distilled water makes those stubborn fingers stick nicely. I like to do a rough trim fist before squeezing, that way there’s no tension by the edges then final trim after. I put more slip to give me more time to do my first trim.
How much is a complete windshield protection install? I also called a Tint shop here in NorCal and he told me they stopped making the windshield protection film , is that true? TIA
What size is your roll? My WPF guy only has a 40-inch roll so I was wondering if that fully covers top to bottom. He said if it doesn’t, I’m gonna have a line at the bottom of my windshield cause of the 2 separate films 😕
Helluva job! I'm sure you guys could use a shower curtain and make it look good. :) I'm not really sold on this exterior job, and can almost see it peel off in about a month. Maybe I'm wrong. Its probably best in hot climates. Here in the Northeast I dont think it will hold for any extended period. Stil, great install considering the tough material and install conditions.
Squeegee method caused those fingers at the corners.. why would u pull tension to the corners ? That’s why u had fingers on all sides vs just the top and/or bottom ..
had a installer do the wind shield and it showed heavy distortion lines across it look as if the material never fully dried even after 3 weeks. Had them remove it due to stressing out my vision when driving.
@@DekGT5mad probably but majority of the installs alot of people mention slight distortions due to the windshield so it's not just me

So why would I want to put what is essentially window tint on the outside? Wipers are going to damage it. First time it snows the ice will rip it all to hell when you turn the wipers on
Yeah I did not do paint protection on my windshield because if it gets a crack or a chip the window cost less than the paint protection. So what’s the purpose?
It is pretty much impossible sale in Florida, since we are NO FAULT STATE. Meaning windshields get replaced free if there is a problem with it. Insurance pays. Good job though.
Yes! I had STEK placed on the windshield immediately on delivery of my 2022 BMW G82 M4 Comp in Los Angeles. I also added Xpel/PPF on the body of the car
I sell STEK Film. When i quote the job i research what a replacement costs first. So say a car windshield replacement is $450 im not going to recommend a $750 film. Majority newer cars yes 100% as that’s a few thousand Bc they need calibration so $750 film is most definitely worth having.
After less than a year, it seems it is time for a how-to video on the removal of this stuff, my windshield is so cloudy that my adaptive cruise control refuses to function properly, and frankly it is intolerable to drive like this.

Did you try heat gun or blow dryer?
@@TizzleT Yes to both. And boiling water as well. Its the clear coat on the film that scratches and is not so called self healing.
That’s a bugger. I would just pull it off and have the natural glass.

Just a tip. If you don't have the tool to pop windshield wipers we just zip tie them pulled out and it works just fine.

How am i supposed to scrape ice off my windshield?
How does this handle conditions where you have to scrape the frost or ice off the windows.
Why not use a liquid de-icer, like a decent human being in 2022?
@@MosesTV000 you can't always do that when you get up in the morning and the ice is 1/4 inch thick and you have to go to work

What does this generally cost to have installed say on a Model Y
Thoughts on using a tack solution to help flush out and try to stick down those edges/fingers quicker?
It could cause distortion. You could use just warm distilled without soap to flush out.

Are you seeing any issues where the windshield wipers are damaging the film?
Of course they are
Exactly this is my main thought and potential concern.

Can u do this for the ford maverick 2022?
I’m curious how this would fair with wiper blades if they start wearing out. How about ice scrappers and automatic car washes? Anyone?
Is it okay to install a tint for the windshield to block IR. the dynoflex has 99% UV but Not sure with IR....
Do they have ceramic windshield protection?
Can you still scrape ice off with this film on?
Is that film able to shrink via heat gun like with tint?
What about using a ice scrapper on it in the winter time?
That would damage it but ice is less likely to stick to the STEK
how will this not get sratched when a spec of dirt get on the wiper blade.
