I'm on the side of I am still grateful it's on these consoles. I'm pretty much exclusively, a playstation. No PC, no Xbox. So the last time I played these games was pretty much almost 20 years ago. The 64-player online gameplay wasn't even the takeaway for me. I missed the nostalgia of the offline gameplay and campaign, and that's what I got. While I acknowledge the bugs and frustration, I mostly just wanted to play offline anyway, so despite all the bugs, I'm just glad it's here on playstation.
@@TonyCL96 Oh yeah, somehow the PS5 version actually does have the 4K assets compressed (which explains why the Update #1 was only 1.9 GBs versus all other versions that had it at 7-9 GBs), while the Xbox and PC versions don't and get the collection bloated to 60-70 GBs.

MCC was also terrible when it came out in 2014. You literally couldn't find a game despite the good population. 10 years later the game industry still hasn't learned it's lesson and we still have unfished buggy games at full price. The problem is that people still buy them but I can understand, when you wait 6 years for a game, you're not gonna wait 2 more years to buy it when it's fixed.

I was excited to get this game because I grew up with battlefront games and was looking forward to reliving a piece of my childhood, but I also wanted to introduce these titles to my now GF who I been with the last 7 years. Well, we got on it day 1 and boy, boy did it feel HORRIBLE. I was truly embarrassed I even showed her the game tbh, we played half of battlefront 1 campaign and the controls, bugs, just everything felt off and like crap. was sad because I brought her into Star Wars and she enjoyed DICE's battlefront 2, we played that for a few years even had good times. So since that 1st day we hadn't played it again and I kind of swept it under the rug, came back yesterday after the updates they have been releasing to see if it was fixed and I can honestly say the game feels allot better. I am not sure if EVERYTHING is fixed but I know personally the aim feels like old battlefront again, the CPU is not beaming me instantly from a mile away on spawn, just feels better. went from being a 2 to a 7 for me, BUT !!, I went to the online and it looks dead...like dead dead.... and that right now Is why I can't go above a 7... part of my excitement was being able to relive the online so I hope they fix this..
I also have hope that this collection can be revived with time and updates. Though I do agree everything should be polished before release. I’m trying to be optimistic. Aspyr have a lot of work to do and i hope they listen to the community and keep pushing towards a comeback for the battlefront classic collection.👍🏻
Even if they did "fix" it you can still get everything that was promised and more with mods for a fraction of the price and it wont be 70gb on your system.

@@thecosmonaut4221 I've been around since the Halo 2 days, and despite what a lot of Bungie purists will tell you, Halo 4 and 5 are actually really good for multiplayer, there's so much variety in the gameplay styles of both 4 and 5 when combined with the sandbox compared to Halo 3 and even to a smaller degree Halo Reach, 343's Halo's aren't ANYWHERE near as bad as people make them out to be...except for Infinite, Infinite is just straight up trash.

I only look at campaigns when I’ve been getting into halo as I think it would be unfair of me to have an opinion on any game’s multiplayer portion as I was not present to play them in its peak. Playing them through mcc just doesn’t feel like a good representation on how they were when they originally released so as of right now my views on the halo franchise are souly based on my enjoyment of each game’s campaign
And say what you will about the MCC, but at least the Battlefront collection kept the original menus and separated the games. Always *despised* how MCC lumped all the games together and had that *horrible* menu system replacing Bungie's originals.
i put my tin foil hat on and believe in a conspiracy that there was some back door deal with EA where aspyr purposefully was told or intended for the game to be bad so that the more modern SWBF2 looks more appealing while that game has micro transactions, gotta continue that revenue stream…
"Makes MCC look good" I'm guessing that was MCC back in 2014.... because yeah the game back than was pretty similar. Now though, well MCC has just become something really good, it's gone from a bad collection to a great collection and to me, is the definitive way to play the original halo's, hasn't booted up my original copies on my 360 in ages. Also, the original game on pc still has a fair few people playing multiplayer, but I was hopping for better multiplayer support with this version, but it's actually worse than it was when gog updated the original games with multiplayer support.

If they are using mods. Then why just not pay the modders and ad graphic mods and more content mods. Would be nice to have all of that stuff on console and online support. Currently im playing the original xbox version on xbox series s. And its great. Even just porting this version would been nice. With better graphics and online and 4 player split screen. MCC on launch is completely incomparable to this. I was actually able to load into a game the first day of battlefront II. MCC it took me 3 months before I played an online game
I did the pre-order for the game when I first heard about it, and I can say that I wasted my money. The online is obviously buggy which was the only reason I bought it to play with some of my pals, but at this point I'm just playing it for trophy hunting. I've never been able to do online play because I've been a console player my whole life, but was unable to do online multiplayer until after they shut down the original servers. So I've been cheated. This is almost making Battlefront 2 from EA look like it had a better launch because at least some work was put into it, granted that's like saying a pile of vomit is better than a piece of crap.
I feel ya & also pre-ordered it with 2 discounts (so I paid just under $29 US dollars for it....and I still felt ripped off like so many others). I only got it because 1. Aspyr did such a good job with the Tomb Raider I-II-III Remaster (how could they f*** up Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2 right?). 2. I could play online with my friends (and we all know how that turned out). 3. The trailers made it look like it was vastly upgraded and with newer cutscenes/animations (that aren't even in the dang game)....and now with the latest patch/update, yeah they fixed some bugs, glitches and other issues but they just made even more bugs, glitches and more issues. WTF? 🤦🤦🤦. I'm never trusting Aspyr again with any game (and waiting for word of mouth first). At least Nightdive Studios did an awesome job with the Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster. They're a company that actually does great work in my opinion (they also handled the Turok Dinosaur Hunter trilogy remaster, Doom 64 remaster, Quake I & II remasters and several other remasters. The majority of their remaster games are very positive. Any complaints are usually due to the original games themselves not so much the remaster programmers).

On my Xbox Series X, I re-downloaded the 2004 & the 2005 originals instead of the Classic Collection and I have been enjoying playing single player for both games. (I could care less for the glitchy & buggy online multiplayer on the Classic Collection...the originals are cheaper, take up less file size space, has all the cutscenes for both games, has the full control options including inverted, the play control/hit detection works very well, has all the Xbox exclusive DLCs with all the correct animations, both games were already graphically enhanced in 2018 when they were made backwards compatible on the Xbox digital store AND no bugs, glitches and other issues like with the Classic Collection). I recommend picking up these two originals on the Xbox digital store instead of the Classic Collection. Peace ✌️
100% agree with everything. As a PlayStation player, I'm going to point out I still have both on PS2 so why would I buy this shit? Where Xbox fans go to game pass, PS players are historically more likely to keep their old consoles and games, so oftentimes they still own the shit these companies are trying to repackage as 'improvements'

im sure any minute aspyr will mail you a huge amount of legos you want, then you'll think things are getting better, then you'll try to put those legos together only to find out half are bent , some were purposely melted, and some were weird foreign bricks that used a different locking mechanism.. then you'll go numb, drop everything, and SCREAM while "Gut's Theme" blasts in the background.. then you'll know the truth..but still question, did Griffith want this all along?
For me as a PlayStation player, I feel like my purchase was worth it, mainly because I waited until they fixed most of the bugs. My only problem is that the online player count is low but I mean there is nothing you can do about it if you can’t launch a game in a finished state 🤷🏿♂️.
I just explained to my game dev girlfriend the gigantic file size white texture and how every Star Wars army has a bunch of white armored dudes running around and it’s a PVP where you’ll have 60 of them and she just sighed and closed her eyes and asked “and how many white hallways are there? The Battlefront Collection is such an easy task to do, all that had to be done was remake the textures and port the dlc characters, AND SOMEHOW THEY MESSED IT UP, so many signs of ai generated makeovers were all that were done so its not like they had any ACTUAL hd technical things to do, and they still mess up somehow, this makes other companies look like they try by comparison XD
I wonder what happened for this to happen. Was this a "Warcraft 3 ReForged" situation where good intentions got hit by a slash budget and a lack of support, or was a "GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition" where the game was rushed because another more important game failed to launch when needed.
It is hard to say. On one hand the damage has already been done. PC went with refund. The other systems felt their arguments and complaints fall on deaf ears. The player base dropped hard. We also shouldn't be expected to pay $40 for an unfinished beta that takes up so kuch storage memory! Especially when a simple patch by compressing the image files would drop the load making it much closer to what it should be! On the other hand... Should we hold out for hope? The fixes are simple. There have been some attempts to make it playable. All they need to do is patch the game, the servers, allow cross play and maybe do a free weekend deal to get people to try it out for a little and see if they can win that faith back. Then again with the current gaming market... Make a quick buck, have a side studio spend their money... If they succeed keep the profits. If they fail fire people, cash the IP and let the company sink to boost your own sells by selling the IP as you cash out making even a major flop that made no money... Into a successful if ill moral profit. That is how the major studios operate these days.
How is it that the game says I’m at like 50 ping on the server and almost everyone else is somehow playing 100 + latency? I’m rubber banding and looking in the complete opposite direction I was two seconds before teleporting?

I actually didn't initially care about the online play. I just wanted an easy way to play a slightly improved version of childhood games again. So I was especially disappointed to find out the basic invert y-axis option wasn't available, which rendered the game unplayable to me.
The only sorta fun thing that came with this was the XL conquest mode for a few maps. (Seems like 100 ai on the map at a time or something) But its only for single or split screen.
I was getting so fucking pissed waiting for that patch to come to console. All I wanted was to have the BF 1 loading screen audio fixed, and for the BF 2 cutscenes to be completed, and ya know what? They did it. At the cost of making the game sound even worse while playing it, and even more visual and gameplay bugs than you could shake a stick at
I feel you on the achievements, I like perfecting the games I love and feature on my profile, but unfortunately the final achievement is unobtainable. This is the first time I've seen a PlayStation Platinum trophy be included on other platforms without the bit of extra code it needs to actually trigger the achievement

The most baffling thing to me is that whilst there is a huge amount of backlash there is also a huge number of people defending this cashgrab saying things like "Its just like the original game" or "you are just blinded by nostalgia, the games were always this broken" when i can boot up the original battlefront 2 and play on servers with no issues for a fraction of the price. People like this who will blindly buy and then defend these cashgrabs are the exact reason why we get them so frequently.
Been playing the classic collection on PS4 with my brother, and honestly it is fantastic! I do not really care for online gameplay, and found that even playing it on the PS2 back in the day to be a bit of a huge fuck up. Still, it is no excuse for the modern release. More time should have been spent developing functioning servers, and I am sure that in due time it will be fixed (Source: I am an employee 🤑)
By the way, while I only can confirm this for the Switch port, Kotor 1's rerelease also was quite shoddy, complete with the devs leaving a cheat menu still usable by the players.

Many have said it already, it takes a lot to turn a 7GB game that works into a 70GB game that’s broken.
It's 31GB, but yeah it had potential but Aspyr just f@*$ it up.

That 35 dollar price is extra stinky since I got both original games free on Xbox series x 😅.
On my Xbox Series X, I re-downloaded the 2004 & the 2005 originals instead of the Classic Collection and I have been enjoying playing single player for both games. (I could care less for the glitchy & buggy online multiplayer on the Classic Collection...the originals are cheaper, take up less file size space, has all the cutscenes for both games, has the full control options including inverted, the play control/hit detection works very well, has all the Xbox exclusive DLCs with all the correct animations, both games were already graphically enhanced in 2018 when they were made backwards compatible on the Xbox digital store AND no bugs, glitches and other issues like with the Classic Collection). I recommend picking up these two originals on the Xbox digital store instead of the Classic Collection. Peace ✌️
100% agree with everything. As a PlayStation player, I'm going to point out I still have both on PS2 so why would I buy this shit? Where Xbox fans go to game pass, PS players are historically more likely to keep their old consoles and games, so oftentimes they still own the shit these companies are trying to repackage as 'improvements'
The plus side to this though is there is online gameplay, where as on PS2 you can only play solo

For me as a PlayStation player, I feel like my purchase was worth it, mainly because I waited until they fixed most of the bugs. My only problem is that the online player count is low but I mean there is nothing you can do about it if you can’t launch a game in a finished state 🤷🏿♂️.

The Battlefront Collection is such an easy task to do, all that had to be done was remake the textures and port the dlc characters, AND SOMEHOW THEY MESSED IT UP, so many signs of ai generated makeovers were all that were done so its not like they had any ACTUAL hd technical things to do, and they still mess up somehow, this makes other companies look like they try by comparison XD

It is hard to say.
On one hand the damage has already been done.
PC went with refund. The other systems felt their arguments and complaints fall on deaf ears. The player base dropped hard.
We also shouldn't be expected to pay $40 for an unfinished beta that takes up so kuch storage memory!
Especially when a simple patch by compressing the image files would drop the load making it much closer to what it should be!
On the other hand... Should we hold out for hope?
The fixes are simple. There have been some attempts to make it playable.
All they need to do is patch the game, the servers, allow cross play and maybe do a free weekend deal to get people to try it out for a little and see if they can win that faith back.
Then again with the current gaming market... Make a quick buck, have a side studio spend their money... If they succeed keep the profits. If they fail fire people, cash the IP and let the company sink to boost your own sells by selling the IP as you cash out making even a major flop that made no money... Into a successful if ill moral profit.
That is how the major studios operate these days.

I actually didn't initially care about the online play. I just wanted an easy way to play a slightly improved version of childhood games again. So I was especially disappointed to find out the basic invert y-axis option wasn't available, which rendered the game unplayable to me.
The only sorta fun thing that came with this was the XL conquest mode for a few maps. (Seems like 100 ai on the map at a time or something)
But its only for single or split screen.
I was getting so fucking pissed waiting for that patch to come to console. All I wanted was to have the BF 1 loading screen audio fixed, and for the BF 2 cutscenes to be completed, and ya know what? They did it. At the cost of making the game sound even worse while playing it, and even more visual and gameplay bugs than you could shake a stick at
I feel you on the achievements, I like perfecting the games I love and feature on my profile, but unfortunately the final achievement is unobtainable. This is the first time I've seen a PlayStation Platinum trophy be included on other platforms without the bit of extra code it needs to actually trigger the achievement

The most baffling thing to me is that whilst there is a huge amount of backlash there is also a huge number of people defending this cashgrab saying things like "Its just like the original game" or "you are just blinded by nostalgia, the games were always this broken" when i can boot up the original battlefront 2 and play on servers with no issues for a fraction of the price. People like this who will blindly buy and then defend these cashgrabs are the exact reason why we get them so frequently.
Been playing the classic collection on PS4 with my brother, and honestly it is fantastic! I do not really care for online gameplay, and found that even playing it on the PS2 back in the day to be a bit of a huge fuck up. Still, it is no excuse for the modern release. More time should have been spent developing functioning servers, and I am sure that in due time it will be fixed (Source: I am an employee 🤑)
