Loved the west coast. We were nearly blown away at Worlds End. But we were lucky that we had pretty awesome weather our whole trip. We agree that rd has spectacular scenery.
Great episode. Dirt roads in Tasmania are very good. We didn't air down for any, but we weren't towing. We dropped in to Lemonthyme Lodge on a day trip and found the best hospitality. We planned to return but haven't had the chance.

Ha, at around the 13 min when you show the camp site you could possibly squeeze into with a smaller rig, you can see a mustard Landrover parked there. That is Nigel, the newly converted car from TH-camrs Kenall and Glenn who are also down here in Tassie 😀
Thanks for a great episode, Tassie was home to me for over 40 years. It truly is a special place. Your children are very lucky to have such and experience travelling. We went to Tassie some 18 years back, and we're coming back in July this year. driving with a Caravan over Spirit of Tasmania this time. Loving your trip. We have older kids which changes it a bit, but in general it's brilliant. Thanks! Enjoy your trip!
We came here for a holiday 18 years ago , from western Sydney and moved here six months later. West Tamar. love the forests more than anything. You gotta do Cradle again when its snowing, just so totally different. Here's a little tip regarding free camping. National Parks charge and have many restrictions , fire , pets etc. But in a forestry tas area , working forest you can camp anywhere and as long as you are not in the way of a logging opperation no one will say anything. The only real issue is finding clearings big enough. Weather conditions are something else to consider. Wet ground and strong winds bring healthy trees down regularly. In summer also consider fire risk, and what exits you have. If you do venture into working forests, take notice of when it was logged and how fast it grew back. Also the amazing amount of wildlife in these re growth areas. Before coming here I believed all the TV hype, but I now know just how far it is from the truth. And yes there definately needs to be an amount of untouched wilderness, but a sensible amount of logging can go on forever on this amazing island and be 100% sustainable.
I stayed one night up cradle mountain and had a nice cabin called Highlanders nice place to stay and on your way back call into a place called Deloraine they have a 50's diner there nice food ect
Harrison and James are gorgeous! You two are doing a great job raising them. The weather is very changeable for sure. We got some freezing winds in March so anything from snow to hot sun is a possibility as you say!

Living the Dream whilst we still able too because of our fast disappearing Freedoms...very intelligent young couple...safe travels with no Rangers .n idiots
What a great episode!! My brother and I did the big three walks (The Overland track, Frenchmans Cap and Federation Peak) 25 years ago and dad did them in the late 50s. Tasmania never fails to deliver amazing scenery that's ever changing! Spent 9 months doing a house renovation for a mate in Southport. (As far south as you can go ) worth a look down that way through the Huon Valley. Great episode once again.

Curious to know (as I'm about to get my (first) new ute & van... When airing down the tyres for a gravel or dirt road, do you air down the caravan tyres too, or just the vehicle?
Thanks Carla. Always air down your trailer/caravan as well. It dramatically improves the ride and reduces the chance of a puncture on most circumstances.

Tassie weather is the weirdest🤪🤪it snows in summer and 4 seasons in an hour as you experienced 🤷🏼♂️glad there was no environmental disaster💩
