It was a dry loofah bought at some herbs&spices hidden oooold store in Athens downtown (Omonoia if you are connoisseurs!). Best description would be petrified old loaf of bread with a thorny exterior! 😂 It did get better once wet but as a child it was torture! 😅 As an adult I can’t wash without it and when I travel back home I always buy some new ones and also my son have me send him some to Canada! Please update us on how the new exfoliating towel from Amazon works compared to you 'old school' way. I am genuinely curious for a comparison, especially from someone who understands the 'older' way. I am afraid to change from my older ways but if someone else said, "yes dear, it is similar, or even says we'll it is not quite as good but because it is gentler it could be used more often and with more ease...." Then I would try it. I also have insanely dry and peeling skin as well.... So that may be the biggest reason I am afraid to change my routine! Even when I use a lotion it create a micro exfoliating effect and skin looks just like the video! But not during the first day or two after using the heavy duty exfoliators, the thorny loofah thing similar to what you describe and also a rock that is similar to what many people use on their feet, but even MORE serious! Both of these were used on me by my Mum and my grandmother's as a child.... I also dry brush every three or four days, I started with a regular back brush and found it much too soft, now I use a double sided military style brush... It has a softer side and a very stiff side... I also have one just for my scalp now because it does such a thorough job!
      Sorry to go on and on. Like I said, I am just curious for another opinion, especially from a person who has used similar 'scrubbies'.
      Have a wonderful day.

    • @yasma2012
      @yasma2012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@kageoashj2912 it depends on the public bath really, theres very fancy ones (and expensive) that have separate compartments, but the ones I usually go to are like one big room, the steam comes out from the centre, sometimes they add eucalyptus and different herbs to it so that activates your blood vessels. And then all around the walls that are around, there's small water fountains with hot and cold water, they are one next to the other, but since it's never too crowded you can usually grab a spot for yourself without people bothering you or anything, like people around might see your dead skin cells but we see it as normal and not gross, as long as you make sure the residue doesn't go to someone else's spot

    I’m Korean and as a child, that thing hurt me so bad but as I grew up and now I’m 28, I still do it once every week. I used to not exfoliate my body and just used the shower towel because somewhere on youtube said it’s just going to make my skin sensitive and irritating. I started using this Korean washcloth again after I started having several small back&chest acne and my acnes are almost all gone now. It works like a charm for me😂. I don’t know if anyone is interested in using that but here are some tips.
    The right way to do it: 1. Take a bath for at least 20 minutes.(with or w/o bath bomb, doesn’t matter) This helps your skin to soak up and better for exfoliating with the cloth.
    2. Make sure you have teeny tiny bit of SOLID soap on the washcloth. (No body wash or pumping hand soap… Dove solid soap works the best)
    3. Gently rub it on your skin but too much soap will just place the soap on your skin so make sure to just dab it.
    You will notice all those stuff comes out a lot more from your armpit, uderarm, cleavage area, and any part of the body that folds, like your legs or arms. If you have just enough of the soap and rub it, you’ll see the dark nasty colored soap on your washcloth😂
    4. Clean it up using loofah and moisturizing body wash. For the area that you can’t reach like the back, use one of those long shower towels.
    Make sure to use tons of moisturizing lotion afterwards because you’ll have redness and itchiness especially on the area where your skin is thinner.

    We in Morocco🇲🇦, we have so much kinds of stuff we use to wash our skin, they're even very cheap and very very effective more than those ones in the video cause we used them for about +200 years. Let me give you some of their names
    "lkiss", "sabon lbeldi", "sabon d lhjra", "lghassoul"
    And there's so much more☺️😉

    There is a Korean bathhouse in my hometown. You could pay for someone to scrub the daylights outta you with one of these, but first you had to soak in their hottest tub. And of course, all of this was naked. I was never brave enough to get scrubbed, but I did buy a cloth myself and yeah it really scrubs the dead skin off!

      Lucky it was a cloth for you. For my place in India it was dried coconut fiber or there was this Cacao nut like cotton seed. Mom dips you in coconut oil from head to toe and applies something called as Thali ( it's made out of hibiscus flowers and leafs) then start scrubbing from head to toe. You will feel like you are marinated for a bbq session. Pure torture 🥲. Anyways it's good for skin 😁
