There is a flight-combat video game called Airfix Combat, that was released in 2000. The game is based on Airfix model aircraft kits, 15 of them. You fly your miniature planes around a 1950s style house fighting your enemy, depending whether you are Allied or Axis. Not the best graphics in the world but fun to play.
I reviewed this back in June 2023 during the 50% off clearance!!! I think Airfix have a warehouse full of them that they've been trying to shift for a long time...Sadly it's cheaper and easier to play with the original Warlord games version with 1/200th scale minis
This came out 4 years ago. I subscribed to tabletop gaming magazine & after a unexpected bonus at work decided to get their Christmas advent calendar which was 25 fully wrapped board game or board game related presents for £230! This was one of the presents in it. I was going to sell it (It was 2 years later I decided to get into modelling after 30+ years away!) but have now kept it for the models. Its a cheap game most places. Chaos cards have it for £15 plus £2.60 delivery
Be careful if buying expansions. Blood armed Skies was a pre-existing game from Warlord, and I do not think their figures are the same scale. There is an out of print WW2 land wargame licensed from Airfix that you can still find around, called Airfix Battles. In the box you get rules, play maps (it uses squares for movement), card tokens for soldiers, vehicles and terrain, dice and cards, as it is a card driven game. In the box are US versus Germans, there was an expansion set of cards for British & personalities As I said, it is still around new in box, is a fun game, with a solo engine, and something for your 1/72nd scale troops and vehicles to do
Tabletop gaming is pretty popular in other genres so I can see this "taking off". There's scope for expansion packs too. 1/72nd scale Ju-87s? He-111s? Hurricanes......Defiants....the list goes on. How about a Pacific themed set with Corsairs, Hellcats, P-40s v Zeros etc. Bomber escort with B-17s, P-51s v Fw-190s. There are many and varied games that might be developed given enough imagination and interest. Looking forward to seeing how you and your friends get on playing this.

Hell of a livestream if you, Sully, Nigel, and Alec sat and played this one night, call it Airfix Game and Chill.

Definitely an interesting concept, if only the stands and prop discs were in normal kits too
i thought the same
I’m very tempted

yeah i have bthat in my stash somewhere lol
Seems like it might be fun I think I would prefer 1/144 scale and have more aircraft to use
Blood Red Skies, I would expect that to come with a U2.
Looks like interesting Mos
