Note about: If you didn't notice - WHY didn't you notice. Easy. I live in Poland. It's 98% WHITE. I lived in a small town for many year and until I moved to the big city I haven't even seen a black person outside of TV. So yeah, I haven't noticed, cause that's who I see everyday when I leave the flat. And if I stay at home the only person I see is my wife - white blond girl. Our cat is black tho. So hashtag NOTRACIST?

As I said previously - I love this episode, so far my favourite this season. And I feel Lindy Pepper-Bean was written not as a bad person, but more like annoying and stupid one. We weren't really supposed to keep her side and treat her like new companion or someone to cheer for, but to be more sympathethic for her, because of how she is. And she is the way she is because of the constant relying on technology and social media and not having a life outside of it. And then she is slowly taken out of her comfort zone. And you kinda feel like she might be someone better, be her own person, not just influencing machine. And then turns out that if you take it out she is a terrible person, who will push someone to death to save herself. Also racist, and purist. So yeah, she isn't having an arc, she is what she is. We are having an arc where we discover the truth about who she really is if you take her out of the internet to the real world.

I did have a bit while she was with Ricky of "Maybe she can actually learn and get better" but that was by her listening to Ricky, then she betrayed him and you go "No ok she is unredeemable!"
You should add "Do you get get it" to your soundboard!
Also I didn't see any mean comments, maybe they were more on Twitter, I watched your review and went "It wasn't that bad" then saw the comments were all agreeing with that. Sorry to hear there were horrible ones!

I like how with this episode people were saying that we don't need to dive too deep but with 73 Yards they were saying the complete opposite. Also, like you guys after a rewatch I enjoyed it a bit more than I originally did

Look I liked this episode however the ending was a little all over the place with the emotions that said I now realise that's how he may feel in real life. Also I truly believe The Rani will be back in Rogue playing as the Duchess as the location will be in Bath.. and in The Rani very first classic episode Mark of the Rani she lead men to a bathhouse... Hmm I think it's her 🎉

Much like how Ncuti crying every episode undercuts the properly sad moments, if you guys were positive every episode, it would take away from when you talk about the properly good episodes.
Sometimes, it's good to have average episodes like this since it makes you appreciate the really good episodes even more.
Also, many thanks for the big discussion about my tweet, I'm finally redeeming myself from all the fat deletes my opinions were getting lately 😂

Having said that, you guys are super brave to confront all the negative comments, props to you!

While I completely disagreed with your points last episode I didn't care because they were your opinions and I have watched enough of your podcast, even though like 1 episode is enough lol, to know it's nothing like the idiotic RIPDW people so I don't see why people were ragging on you guys like what happened to just ignoring or blocking people it's their job to curate their space.
Keep up the good work and I hope that this is a good next episode to help show that diverse writing is needed not just one person doing the most though I give RTD major credit for picking the Loki creatives after he rightly pointed out that a small line about being Bi wasn't enough and hopefully letting them put them into a position to actually be able to write a queer romance.... though if he is a time agent I need him and River to meet up and be absolute best friends.

I think Lindy was the protagonist of the story. We get to feel sorry for her and keep looking for a redemption arc that isn't there. I like that this season is playing with our expectations of storytelling itself. I'm thinking of the 50 issue weekly maxi-series "Batman Eternal" from about 10 years ago. It showed and it told who was the villain right in the first couple issues, but because of how we view Batman events, it couldn't be that c-tier dude. So we went along with the mystery. I watched people online speculating. And yet, in a *very* satisfying ending, it was exactly who they said it was. Batman didn't believe it either, though in at least four places he was told this guy was the problem. The villain was out to prove he should be better than C-tier. The point is, playing with our sense of how stories should go will get a big ovation from me if done well. And you didn't have to be a Cluemaster to see it *if you were looking for it* and not just at the pretty pastels.

My bother is when Gatwa cries its the same front on shot every episode. Reminds me of the tear girl from S10, and makes me think 'is it a foreshadowing like snow?' but then like the snow ... so what if it was? It'd mean something 8 episodes from now but still be repetitive and annoying until then. Whether its for effect or a mcguffin plot point, its the SAME. SHOT. WITH THE SAME. ANGLE. EVERY. TIME. we get it. We're on a streamjng service. Theres very little change we've ONLY seen THIS weeks episode and thus it demands repeating. And if it needs repeating, change it up a bit at the very least.

I know what it was about this episode that didn’t drive the racism home… For me anyway…
We don’t know anything else about these people. Let me explain what I mean.
It’s like when someone calls people who were alive in the 1750s “racist” meaning it the same way they would today. Like as if they’re a bad person for it.
Like were they technically racist, yeah. But did they also believe in magic and witches? Yeah. The context is important lol.
The truth of it is that there’s really one or two smart people who are intelligent enough to know that they’re being racist and that there’s no real difference between the races and then, there’s everyone else who’s just believing what they’re being told and what’s being presented to them. It’s not like today where you have full awareness and knowledge of the fact that people of different races are exactly like you, both biologically, and mentally (with the normal differences we all have bw us but ykwim)…. So to be racist is truly a choice to be cruel.
Like, you want me to think that these people are racist when all that I know about them is that a quite literally live in a bubble that is so much in control of their life that they don’t even know how to walk without without it?!
Seems like they *might* be victims of naivety and someone (or something) else calling the shots for them.
Again so like, yeah, I guess they’re racist, in the most basic term of it, but at the same time… If they live in a society with only white people… Which I assume is true… otherwise the bubble is also racist (Because it could go rogue enough to invent monsters to murder people. So it would be able to show that all ppl are equal regardless of skin color if it wanted to.) and they don’t know how to do anything at all, and all they know is that what matters is having followers…. They aren’t thinking of race in the way we do.
I still have so many questions about this society and why they can’t walk (like they wore the bubble from birth? Idgi?) it has to be an elite society that is already all white, and the children are born into it just being raised to think that they are the best and the supreme people.
I really don’t think they have a chance at seeing outside the bubble (figuratively, in this case). So it’s more than being mean. It’s systemic.
And I’m sorry, but I’m not stupid enough to get angry at people for believing the only thing they know.
    That’s not racist to me.
That’s someone taking advantage of your ignorance and using your ignorance to do evil.
And way too many people were looking at it in the context of today where if you’re a racist it’s a choice to be something that you know people see as bad. Something that you are taught is bad.
Something you *know* is bad or that at the very least you know will hurt the person you’re being racist too.
But there are 1 million things that evolved over time that at one point people said or did without any malice at all, but just simply were too naïve to be aware of the fact that it was not proper to be said or done or whatever the case.
Like, random but… take calling little people a m*dget. NOW if you say that, you’re probably being intentionally rude. But 30 years ago if you said that you were just using a noun. Because of naivety because most of us didn’t know a little person. But once we had Twitter and reality TV and things that made the world smaller, and people able to talk to people who are unlike themselves… They were able to say “hey, we don’t like being referred to like we’re a different thing.” at which point all of us were like “oh my God yeah obviously sorry”.
So, do we call everyone from 30y ago “ableist” for using that word? Or do we recognize it was the only reality that was known, and it was what was simply done at the time. Do you see what I mean?
The large majority of us only see what is in front of us. That is why people who are able to see beyond that are called philosophers or geniuses or revolutionaries.
Like Ricky in this episode. The Jesus of the episode lol. The only one who was able to see past the restrictions of the time and place, who was then killed by the person/people he tried to teach.
I don’t know I hope I’m making sense but it just really annoyed me how many people were like “oh my God I can’t believe the point was that they were all terrible racists!”
Like yeah, that was part of it, sorta… but the point was that they were literally in such a bubble that they didn’t even know that they were making their life worse or in this case, putting themselves in actual danger by remaining in that bubble. The point was that accepting what is spoon fed to you, staying in your echo chamber, doesn’t only hurt those you aren’t letting in.
I don’t know. I just felt like this was a needs more info situation for me and way too many people were putting it in the context of modern day western Society when it was supposed to be 6000 years in the future and quite literally those people could’ve been told anything lol
I really don’t think they were making decisions to be hateful… they didn’t even know how to walk . They couldn’t even make a decision to go to the bathroom.

Ignore the negative comments guys. Are people really upset over comments about a TV Show? You guys gave an uncensored instant honest valid reaction to a very divisive episode. I've watched it 3 times. At first viewing I thought it was a sub Black Mirror episode that tried too hard to be clever. Ncuti gave a powerful performance at the end. However upon rewatching I feel The Doctor of old would have had a more subdued reaction to the implied racism. Which I for one didn't spot on first view.
I feel a bit like you have been bullied into reevaluating your opinions. There is no right or wrong here. This has just reinforced to me how the current Doctor Who fandom has become very divided and sometimes toxic.
To quote Billy Joel ( this pop culture reference will go over the heads of most people under 40)...." Don't go changing to try and please me... I love you just the way you are

Idk why you're getting just as mad at people who didn't get the message as you would be at the people who actually believe in it.
You'd think they'd gone on a podcast and said, "I agree with Lindy as a character and thought she was right"
