Beautifully explained Sanyal. It's a pleasure to listen to you always. But then, when are we going to rewrite the history text books for schools & higher studies. Especially when are we going to change the Aryan narrative which the whole country is suffering from, specially for people from Tamilnadu??!!. There will be a stiff opposition from Tamil Dravidians while Dravidian sect itself is only a wrong narrative.

Illuminating of expose of History of Bharsth by Sanyal. Wish his writings shd find placevwith common people perhaps in various regional languages. This willbinstill patriotism among the present generation.

I think history should be based on facts and relevant Proofs and sources. Then ideology doesn't matter.

History is always driven by ideology. Even the proofs and sources one would use to prove a historical fact would have an ideological bias

Historical China encompasses various dynasties (e.g., Qin, Han, Ming, Qing) and republics (e.g., Republic of China, ROC).
Today's PRC China, under the CCP, is a distinct entity with its own history, politics, and ideology.
Historical China was ruled by various powers, including foreign invasions and dynasties (e.g., Mongol Yuan, Manchu Qing).
    - The CCP's PRC is not a direct continuation of ancient historical China, but rather a new regime established in 1949 and conquered neighbouring countries since then...but some people assumptions and recognition Today's CCP PR China as historical china and talks same as ccp claims and don't know really and truth history or China.

Unfortunately, transfer of power always happens to stooges....so expecting anything different is like living in fools' paradise. ..and if you think RSS didn't collaborate with the British, think again. If you are proud of Maratha plunder in North and Bengal and Odisa that does not serve anyone in Indian perspective.

The arguments are facetious. But we studied RC Mujumdar and Jadunath Sarkar in our college.

I believe what he wanted to say was that historians like jadunath sarkar were sidelined

A dissapointing Sanjeev Sanyal interview. Two points.
One, the academic consensus that the sun went around the earth and that humanity originated from Adam and Eve is a mediavel Catholic Church consensus / diktat. Harking back to a mediavel view does not really give weight to his argument.
Two, RC Mazumdar's erroneous views and writings gravely hurt the Indian point of view about Hindu civilisation. His polemical & propagandist view that Indians spread Hindu civilisation in SE Asia by conquest and created Hindu colonies led to a huge backlash in the 50s. Thus the Indian, esp Pallavan link was downplayed by the SE Asians while the Mahayana links to Sri Lanka were priviledged. A more careful and a less jignoistic history writing by Indians about SE Asia would have served India better.

So, history needs to be fabricated just because someone or some country won't like it?
Countries collaborate for economic reasons - not what you write in your history books.

That was only an example to show the biases that creep in when we talk of academic consensus
While i havent read all books by r c majumdar, but i respectfully disagree on the point ( i dont claim to know all) basis what i know.. but its gud to have an alternative viewpoint
