As someone born and brought up in Dharamsala, it’s impossible for us to see our area without Tibetans. They bring an enigma of fresh area and add a special charm to our land. We’ve always believed they are integral part of our society. We see them as locals and our own. For us someone from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi or any other part of India is an outsider but majority of people in Himachal would call Tibetans as their own people. We have deep rooted love and respect for Tibetan culture and people. HHDL is not only the spiritual and temporal leader of Tibet but he is also our Guru, our guiding light and our God. We wish Govt. of India starts giving Tibetans their due and equal representation now. We also want a free Tibet and see it as our own cause but, we wish that Tibetans should stay in India and have equal rights as long as Tibet doesn’t get freedom. Praying for the well being of our Tibetan friends, brothers and sisters. Long live the Indo Tibetan friendship.

First feed your people in India. 111th ranking out of 125 nations in global hunger index rate is a severe hunger. Those poor and uneducated Bihari has been mass migrating into Nepal and they are everywhere now. Peacefully take them back or face the consequence of Rohingyas. I sense immense amount of hate against those Madhaesi Bihari Indians who falsely and shamelessly pose as Nepalese. They are not even native to Nepal.

2024 Tibetans in China are prosperous and do not wish they were in Dharamsala, India or refugees in India. If you don’t believe just look at the infrastructure and the revenue the region is generating. You will see wealthy Tibetans flashing Lamorghinis at weddings, taking a bullet train and enjoying privileged places at top chinese universities. Downtown Lhasa is cleaner than the Delhi slumland and with Tibet being one of the top tourist destinations in China the money is coming in unfathomable. This is the fact and I am part tibetan - just take a trip to Tibet if you dont believe me.

I have been to Tibet on my way to kailash couple of years ago. The landscape is simply fantastic. One of the greatest mistake committed by Nehru Sahib is gifting away this huge land to china this losing the buffer between Bharat & the notorius China. The Tibetans in India & elsewhere also seems to have forgotten as almost none of the presently gen might not have seen or visited their motherland. Those living in tibet have reconciled not to protest as mainland people have been made to settle in pockets across tibet & to thus completely destroy the tibetan culture & way of life.

A day late and a dollar short, as they say. They couldn’t hit the iron while it was red hot. Nehru was just like 👍 8:35 hoping against hope with Chao En Lai. Instead he died of mistreatment from China. Mishandled Tibet issue then and India is paying heavily today on the Indo Tibet( China) border with hundreds of crores daily safeguarding it from China’s incursions.
Had they some spine , and raised the Tibet issue in the UNO, things would be a little different.

It would have been a better choice to confront Chinese occupation strongly once than confronting it daily on LAC even LAC wouldn't have come into practice if Nehru would have acted then.
Nehru feared war or anger from China thought that he could appease but his cloud dream burst in 1962 ultimately claiming his own life.

Nehru made the biggest mistake by not supporting Tibet at a crucial moment. India security is Tibet freedom. Now you have a neighbour who is your biggest threat.

The Tibetans have long intermingled with Chinese due to Tibetan plateau merges at Qinghai and Sichuan lowlands. India were not fortunate due to the steep Himalayan incline that separated them. At some time, Tibetan Dalai Lama paid tribute to the Qing Dynasty and cemented close relations. The rest is history.

As a Tibetan we understand that Indian government was not in a position to face china in a war to defend Tibet, however there were many other ways it could have supported Tibet on international stage. Fast forward today India if wanted can still do so many things to bring Tibet into centre stage, but there seems to be no political will to do so. There is a short sightedness’s by the Indian government and only wants to deal with symptoms of the disease and not the cause of its disease. India will never have peace at it borders until Tibet becomes a buffer zone. That is the reality.

Great Britain ruled India for 200 years and complicated India by dividing India into two parts before they left India. Hmm! When now we see British new prime minister! I feel things going around and round! London bridge is falling down!

I was born into a Hindu family in India but the caste system, meaningless adherence to rituals and blind belief in philosophical allegories turned me into an agnostic/ atheist. I always had an affinity to Buddhism so became a student of Vajrayana. In 1949 India was in no position to defy China but did what it could to take in and support Tibetan diaspora. I often travelled in Himalayas and have many Tibetan friends. I would love to visit Tibet but only after it is free of Chinese occupation. Tashi Delek

If India were to officially recognize Tibet as an independent nation, it could have far-reaching geopolitical impacts for China. Such a move might inspire other democracies to do the same, isolating China diplomatically and weakening its control over regions like Tibet, Hong Kong, and potentially Taiwan. This could challenge China’s authority, placing its aggressive regional stance on shaky ground.India’s firm stance on its territories-Jammu and Kashmir, Aksai Chin, and Saksham Valley-underscores its commitment to sovereignty, contrasting with China's backing of insurgent activities. Recognizing Tibetan independence could intensify calls for self-determination across China, potentially foreshadowing the kind of internal weakening that led to the Soviet Union's collapse.
