  • The difference between a beautiful project and a mediocre one is often in its proportions. The ancient Greeks figure out that many things humans find attractive and appealing have proportions that conform to the Fibonacci Sequence, also sometimes called the Golden Section or the Golden Mean. In this video, you'll learn to design furniture that pleases the eye using a very simple shop-made device called a Fibonacci Gauge.

    I want that tool. I need to measure my world with it. I'd like to ask a question, and I'm not meaning to sound rude, but I still want to know. Why do some people pronounce "height" as "highth"? It reminds me of Daffy Duck, but not in a good way.

    A triangle works too.

    Just keep moving the gauge different positions, you're not explaining why. Very hard to follow and a total waste of time.... Disappointing!

      @banorful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The movement of the gauge just has to do with your first measurement. It is all proportional to that 30" height that he first started with. If you were building a cabinet that was 7 feet high you would set the gauge to match that height and make all your markings according to the 1 : 1.618 ratio. The movement of the gauge is making everything look proportional to whichever measurement you are going by.

    Why do people still use this...

    • @banorful
      @banorful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because it exists and is relevant in almost all things built. These ratios are still used today in a lot of engineering. Nature also uses this ratio to build a lot of things to. Your face also follows this ratio.

    I’m sorry but you made absolutely no sense. I’m an intelligent person and you literally left out every detail that is needed for a person to go from your video to actually sketching a plan. You should really redo this video

    I like the golden ratio but... in real world situation you need specifics dimensions to build stuff, like a planed kitchen, how you deal with it?

      KJV Bible
      [1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
      [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
      [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
      [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
      Ephesians 2:8-9
      KJV Bible
      [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
      [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
      Romans 10:9-13
      KJV Bible
      [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
      [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
      [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
      [12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
      [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    the art of design is a free soul! no need rules! Just creativity and innovation!

      Sounds like you have a liberal arts degree. Creativity is always a product of constraints. And a free soul without knowledge is useless.

    The word "HEIGHT" ends in a T in English and American. It does NOT end in a "....TH."
    It is so irritating that I cannot watch what is otherwise a brilliant and interresting video.
