For me, at 52, you give the most realistic and practical advice for styling my wardrobe, in comparison to the multitude of TH-camrs doing this type of video. I've learned a lot.
That's great to hear - got to keep it practicable ad relatable!
I totally agree. I’m 53 and work from home but still have kids in middle and high school. I start my day with the school run, then walk the dog, then at my desk for some work and often never make it out of my morning clothes before picking up the kids and moving into the afternoon / evening activities. I love the idea of elevated basics / smart athletic wear that looks like effort went into the outfit but is still comfy enough for the dog walk and working from home. ❤❤❤
Indeed 😊 she adapts her advice in function of the body shape where other TH-camr give stereotypical advice like wear stripes / a blazer / a trench…
"Disguising Monty's paw prints"! 😂 Thanks for keeping it real, as always. This is a great format. Quick, simple, useful and entertaining.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. Truly. May God bless you for helping so many of us out here. At 66 years young, I am trying my best to update my look. I am no longer the size 8 I have been for most of my life and find myself at a loss as to how to dress. Finding your channel is such a blessing!
I enjoyed this, especially the discussions about round vs angular; how adding a pop of white under darker layers brings life to the outfit.
Thank you.
I enjoyed this format too!! Please, more help for plus sizes?! Larger clothes are often in a very limited range of colours and fabrics.🥲
I can’t tell you how many compliments I get since I started watching your videos. I tell everyone about you. Thanks for helping me like shopping for the first time in my 55 years.
So nice of you to say that and I’m really pleased to hear it’s working for you x
Fabulous design information! Thank you♥️ I especially appreciate that you explain that black isn’t for everyone. Neither is white. I’m enjoying chocolate brown and burgundy for my basics. Love golden highlights as well. Textures and angles can elevate anyone’s wardrobe. I do still wear my skinny high waisted jeans with western boots. You nailed it in this video!
Greetings from snowy Ohio Melissa, this was such good content!!! I have recently gone back to watch a few of your Masterclass body shapes videos because my mom has to wear a colostomy bag and has given in to very loose and oversized clothing, and additionally it is embarrassing (emotional) for her. I have been able to find ways to help her create more shape and yet not be uncomfortable per some of your hourglass style theories. Thank you for your expertise, you never know what type of physical or emotional situation you are appealing to!
Hello and hello to your mum too! I help a lot of people with stoma bags, in fact we used a lady who has kidney failure in our styling course and she has to wrap a 2 metre tube around her waist so she can plug in to her machine ever night so similar comfy clothing needed there too. It can be done. Yoga pants with the fold over waist band work really well. Best wishes to you both x
@@mmpersonalstylingwhat a great idea with the fold-over waist
Ah yes, my last pairs of skinny jeans have been demoted to dog walks in wellies as well. Best way to transition them out 😂
Love that you pointed out the “black and white always works” myth. Both colors don’t suit me at all, so whenever I come across videos telling people black and white are easy everyday wardrobe staples I immediately stop watching.
I noticed I think a lot more about combinations and changeable outfits lately, so your videos do have a positive effect on me. Thanks for that! 😊
That's great to hear, i'm glad some of our thoughts are resonating with you. x
A classic video to save and review occasionally!
I've always recognized that structured was more flattering than flowy but now I know why!
Thanks for another great video. I like this format. I loved the all burgundy look!
Glad you enjoyed!
I love this approach. I also love that you do so much with casual as many of us spend the majority of our time in.
fabulous! you have outdone yourself with this one. thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you so much!
Wonderfull a shorter video with lots of good advice. I loved it!
So glad!
I loved this format!!!
Oh good!
Fab video!! Loved the burgandy foundation pieces with the camel. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Your videos are really next level compared to what else is out there. And here's why: The detail that you put into them really sets them apart. Not only to you thoroughly explain the rationale for the advice that's being given but you also explain how to properly execute it - no one does that. For example, in a different video you were talking about pairing gym tights with a sweatshirt, you then went on to say make sure the sweatshirt is oversized and to go up a few sizes if needed - that's the stuff I need to hear! Otherwise, I'm just pulling any old sweatshirt out of my closet and wondering why it doesn't look right, lol. AND the advice is always practical, which I appreciate. I would love to see a video on fit - I know that may seems very basic but I think many of us buy clothes that we fit into versus clothes that fit us properly (if it buttons, it fits right?). Big thanks to you and your team for putting these videos together!!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it. I've been a stylist for a long time so I think that's probably the difference between a stylist and an influencer - who knows - but i'm glad it's resonating with you. Ps I'll add your suggestion to the videos suggestion list that we keep. x
You’ve nailed it - that’s exactly why I follow Melissa❤
YES! We're finally ditching the skinny jeans!! I am wearing them for years now, because there basically wasn't anything else to buy. But I always found them so unflattering for me. I'm 41 and only now I'm learning what suits me and what doesn't. Mainly thanks to you Melissa!
That's lovely to hear, i'm glad my videos are helping you. Thank you for watching x
Brilliant video! I really missed a video like this where you show tips and tweaks 🤩 More of these please!
There are a lot of videos on your channel for plus size women and few for slim women because it is supposedly easier for them to dress but we slim girls still need your knowledge and these tricks 😊
On Monday I have 5 ladies coming into the studio, all different shapes and sizes including a very slim lady so watch out for that one! We also cover slim dressing on our online course if that’s of any help!
I look forward to all your videos @@mmpersonalstyling 🙈🫣
Even if it’s not my body type I watch anyway because than I give tips to my mum who is bigger bust one.
Happy new year by the way 🥂🩵
Hi. I’m a size 4 but am so glad to see videos n tips for larger women. There are loads of available sources for us ‘skinny’ girls
Never got into the skinny jeans trend, it was ridiculously difficult to find straight / slightly boot cut jeans... Loved the style of video!
What a useful info!!! Thanks so much Melissa. Burgundy on you is to die for 😍
Thank you!
Short, sweet, and efficient - I give the new format a thumbs up! I'd love to learn more about pairing different styles of jeans with different shoes. In other words, "I want to wear my wide legs today, what can I wear on my feet?" Or "I want to wear my Chelsea boots, what should I wear with them?"
Noted! We’ll definitely do this video very shortly x
Wow! Amazing!❤ I really loved the burgundy outfits. Very good the comparison between a neutral top and the black one.
Great videos! I am desperately trying to not reach for black when I shop, I’ve always used black to minimize my bust and arms but when I see your looks put together I realize my outfits look drab. I also am trying to get away from printed tops, I loved them when I worked but I do feel they make me look a bit matronly now. I am still very active and love clothes so I do want to look as stylish as possible even in my everyday simple life of retirement. Thank you for all your videos and expertise!
Thank you Melissa! I am 60 and have lost myself over the last 10 years. Your videos are helping me recreate my style and gain more confidence.
Have you ever done a video or spoken about warm vs cool choices in base or capsule pieces and how to determine which is right for the individual?
No I haven't but we do have a specialist colour course coming out soon. x
Loved this!!
Thank you for saying black is draining! You can really see the difference in this video.
I found this 2 parter very helpful. I have fallen victim to “you have to have this” when it isn’t my life or style. When I feel the urge, I’ll come back to this. ❤
Loved this short, to the point, and informative video. Thank you.
So glad!
Love all these kind of very helpful tip videos. This week and last weeks videos were incredibly helpful!!
Dear dear Melissa ~ thank you for always considering the everyday woman. I'm a short post-menopause apple, so I truly appreciate your guidance. Finding flattering clothes is a challenge, but even moreso having any spare $$ in the budget is a greater challenge for me, thanks to 2 years of unemployment during Covid ~ still recovering financially from that. Perhaps this summer the budget will finally allow me to slowly implement all of these great fashion suggestions! So many brilliant tips but it's hard to know where to start when there's rarely any extra money in the monthly budget. I know that replacing unflattering pieces is necessary to feel better about our appearance. Maybe that's a great idea for a short video ~ "how to slowly rebuild or create your capsule wardrobe ~ where to start." God bless you. May 2024 be your best year yet! (for me too!!) :)
I hope this summer brings some financial relief for you. In terms of where to start, i'd suggest lightening up your wardrobe with a good white/ neutral top - it can make HUGE differences to your outfits. x
@@mmpersonalstyling now THAT sounds doable! I will keep my eye out for a neutral versatile top. I really to appreciate you and value your styling videos. It's obvious your heart is in the right place. ☺
I learned something new- structured versus curve absolutely applies to me and now I know why some pieces work better than others
I’m small and round, so having the more angular pieces including jewelry helps give a more elegant look! Thank you as always for being you and helping us figure out this style journey !
Glad it was helpful!
Love all the looks!!🎉

Loved this video Melissa, I forget how many outfit we can make using the same base layer, and how it can be appropriate for different things by just tweaking shoes and handbags. As always lots of very useful information thank you great video 🥰
You are so welcome!
For me, your most useful video so far. Love your work xx
So glad! Thank you for watching x
This was definitely a good type of video with lots of practical information. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This was really useful, particularly the angular verses rounded shapes. I have just booked tickets to the Hay Literary Festival in May and now obsessed with looking my best while basically in a field in Wales! This gives me some layering ideas, navy is by base colour but need to add some neutral pieces to make it pop I think
Absolutely loved this video. Its a wealth of information about neutrals, base colors, shoes, and accessories. This helps me sooo much, thanks!
So glad!
Another awesome video! Love the concise format and your tips are super practical as always! (watching all the way from CPT in South Africa, so you're helping plan my wardrobe a season in advance 😉)
Hello in South Africa (it still blows my mind that people are watching from all over the world!)
