Good morning, how has everyone's week been? So today as the title would suggest I'm talking about elegant fashion, and how you can very simply dress a little more elegantly without blowing the budget. Looking and feeling polished doesn't mean spending more money but instead really considering all the little details of your outfits and the effect they will have on your look as a whole:) I really hope you find today's video helpful and it gives you all a few outfit ideas to try out:) I'm a touch jet lagged after New York I must admit, but we had the most amazing time! I can't wait to show you all some footage of everything we did, saw and of course what I wore. Big hugs everyone, Jess
“Be kind to yourself” - such a simple but powerful reminder to us all! It’s so easy to get wrapped up trying to strive for perfection. Thank you Jess. You are very much appreciated here x
I can't believe it! I finally found someone with a similar style to my own! I like a classic, rather than trendy look, and I've never liked wearing flashy logos. Not on clothing or handbags. I enjoyed all of the looks you put together. Thank you!
Good morning Jess! There is nothing I like better in the morning than to have my first cup of coffee and come upon one of your lovely videos to watch. It's a great way to start my day :)
My Sunday mornings are so bright when I get to view another video from you. You look marvelous in all your trousers, especially the light blue. Yes, we should all be kind to ourselves.
Hello Diane, lovely to hear from you and I’m so pleased you enjoyed this video:) Always a pleasure to share ideas with you all. Big hugs and have a wonderful week ahead xx
Beautiful looks, Jess. Thank you for mentioning logos. Like you, I prefer simple, elegant looks, and too many (or too big!) logos spoil it for me! Thanks for all the great inspo! So helpful, as always. 😘
Thank you you. Ive always liked looking elegant even when i was in my 20s. However , i live in a very casual city but i still try to look elegant. I appreciate your videos.
Plenty of food for thought in there today Jess. Made me want to experiment a little instead of pulling on my normal jeans and sweaters 🥴 Thanks, have a good week 😻
So glad you enjoyed it Lynne, thank you so much for letting me know:) I know all too well how easy it is to just reach for my jeans combo, and you can absolutely do that too and look elegant but it's also nice to mix in a few other ideas to keep things interesting:) Have a lovely rest of your weekend Lynne
Great tips as usual Jess the only negative comment is trousers that drag on the ground in my opinion it isn't a polished look. Loved the first outfit with the olive green top I have some similar trousers in that colour and style now I need to find an olive top. Hugs from Sydney Australia.😘
Haha you're right! It's one of those styling quirks that I personally really love, a little puddling of my trousers, but it isn't typically described as elegant! The look used to frustrate my Mum, she was always itching to take up my hems! But glad to hear you enjoyed the video Christine, thanks so much for popping by:)
it is so refreshing to see content creators push through the noise (and honestly virtrol) of others who criticize and condemn those who enjoy an elevated and elegant style. with all of these outfits, I'm looking at you, rather than the pieces. great video!
Morning Jess, hope you’re all well? Great tips as usual from you! I have been enjoying mixing my fabrics when putting outfits together. I have a few satin skirts now, some with pleats others without and I really like styling them with knitwear or sometimes just a t-shirt can look good too depending on what look I’m going for. Love the challenge of saying something positive to ourselves, something I never do, challenge excepted! Take care and have a lovely week, we’re on half term here and I’ve booked the week off so no alarms for a week yay! Haha 😂 Sending hugs as always xx
Yay! Well I'm looking forward to hearing how nice you've been to yourself this week then:) It's not easy I know, we all have that tendency to look in the mirror and find faults with ourselves, we're our own worst enemies aren't we! But taking a moment to point out your own positives each day can honestly give you that little confidence boost and thus stand a little taller and more stylish as a result:) Enjoy half term lovely, and even better no alarms! Big hugs
Love this! I've come to the conclusion that (in general) prints make an outfit piece look cheaper & solid colour looks alot more refined & elegant irrelevant of the price tag.
That's so lovely to hear Karen, I'm so chuffed you found it helpful:) All really simple style tips but ones we often forget that can make a huge difference overall!
I’m really happy you added the part about being kind to yourself and acknowledging at least one thing you like or appreciate about your appearance. I would go even further and say, acknowledge something you appreciate about yourself beyond looks. Like your kindness. Resilience. About staying true to who you are. About celebrating the gifts you bring into the world. And yes, clothing is part of that. Have you ever met Lisa Eldridge? I think you would be a wonderful ambassador for her products, some of which I have. And you seem to share a lot of the same values. Thanks again Jess. And have a wonderful week. Maybe one day if you cross the pond and come to Cherbourg, i’ll get to meet you.
Yes you’re absolutely right Dana, a little self love, what ever it may be can go a long way ♥️ I’ve not really watched Lisa Eldridge before but it sounds like she has a similar personality to me so I shall definitely catch up on her videos now you’ve mentioned it:) Have a wonderful week and looking forward to seeing you all for Sundays vid x
‘Be kind to yourself’ well that shook me up. I think probably that will be hard for me but I give it a try. After years not being appreciated i guess it’s about time to turn around. Thank you so much for mentioning this most important point !
It's definitely time Monika! The world can be a tough place sometimes can't it so we must start by appreciating ourselves and show ourselves the respect and then making sure the people around us follow suit!:)
You really do epitomise elegance and polished chic! I love your outfit combinations. I really agree that hair makes a huge difference. Unfortunately mine is thinning and never looks well groomed !
I am a huge enthusiast for elegant dressing - to the point that even my lounge and sleep wear follows suit. Lovely video as always - I enjoy having my morning coffee with you!
Hi Jess, I've just found you 😁 I'm glad I have! You are very stylish and elegant but you are down to earth too. I love that you shop on the high street and not just designer brands. Some other channels seem to showcase very expensive clothes. I also love how you encourage to find your own style too. A new subscriber here 🥰
I look forward to these videos every week. You never disappoint. So classy and elegant. You’ve been an inspiration. I may be 65 years old but I always want to look my best
That’s such a lovely comment to read thank you Katherine:) I’m so pleased to hear you enjoy what I do on here, it’s a pleasure sharing ideas with you all xx
Hey Jess, I hope you all had a great time in NYC🎉🎉 Fab video. I love that logos are now more understated and that the really oversized look has moved on. I personally was not a fan as it drowns my figure. I look like I’m wearing my hubby’s blazer 😅😅 Have a great week x
Morning gorgeous:) Aah New York was fab! Well amazing and annoying at the same time. You head all that way and children cannot stop bickering with each other haha, drove me potty! But aside from that I loved being there:) Totally with you re oversized, it got so over the top it looked ridiculous didn't it! A hint rather than a splash is always my favourite way to tick those kind of trends:) Big hugs lovely and have a wonderful rest of the weekend
Such a lovely, inspiring video! I am so happy to have found your channel tonight! I totally agree with you about the beauty of classic style pieces in muted, neutral colors. You look so pretty in all the styles you featured. 😊
Hi Jess, thanks for all the tips! I specially loved the last one, "be kind to yourself". Such a great tip to give yourself a compliment, I will try to do that more often🥰 Have a great week😘
Hey Jess, lovely tips. I always learn from you and even though I live in the tropics, there’s always something I can apply to my own situation. I wish I could comfortably add layers though lol. See you next week. Have a lovely week xx
Aah that makes me so happy to hear:) Yes whatever the weather these style tips are all pretty universal, so glad to hear you found them helpful. Happy Sunday lovely
Good morning Jess, thank you again for such great tips. I personally need to regain the final one (confidence!) As always you are so inspiring as well as stylish 🙂
Hi Jane, I think the last tip is what we all probably struggle with the most:/ Do try that this week though and I bet it will make you stand a little taller and feel a little more chic as a result:)
I so wish I could meet you and have you go through my wardrobe and help me sort it out! I adore your style. You’re such a kind and beautiful soul. I’m feeling so overwhelmed right now and am in the process of sorting everything out! I hate throwing things out - I wish you could help me. I absolutely love your aesthetic and so wish I could emulate you in my own clothes. Once I get organised, I’m hoping that it’ll be far easier to try to achieve xxx
Morning Jess, great tips, I have organised my wardrobe into colour blocks, and yes it’s sooo helpful when putting outfits together I love tonal dressing !
Hi Julia, thanks so much for getting in touch:) In all honesty I don’t wear a lot of print, only adding the odd piece, usually in Summer with a floral perhaps or polka dot. It’s not that they don’t look elegant but it is harder to make them look effortless in my humble option so I personally just add a sprinkle from time to time when I find a really special piece x
Hello 👋🏽 my friend Jess, that olive & camel outfit is to die for. Invest in a streamer. Your clothes & style will thank you 😊. Something I learned from you, with my petite height of 5’1/177.8 cm, watch the length of a blazer. For me with my hourglass shape, wearing a blazer that hits at the top of my hips or a cropped jacket looks super stylish (thank you 😊). Maybe you could do a video featuring necklines & necklace lengths 🤔? My favorite too, monochromatic winter white outfits. How do you keep the silky skirt from looking like night clothes 🤔? I’m old school & still wear slips, pantyhose & knee highs under my clothes. Okay Jess, today’s words of self kindness = “I appreciate how I intentionally picked out my outfit & it looks/feels magnificent. Thank you 😊. Cheers 😉🌷
Hi Jess, I totally agree with you about a woman’s neck & shoulder line being the most elegant part of her and personally I like that look for myself, it makes me feel confident and pretty. However I do struggle with the “tuck” on my jeans or trousers as I feel it draws attention to my stomach which makes me very self conscious, I don’t have a lovely flat tummy so have you any tips to help with that? I love the videos by the way, they are a perfect start to my Sunday morning x
Haha love that description but ye me too, totally! I find the sleeves stay up better if you properly roll the item underneath ie: fold the shirt to the elbow properly and it seems to hold the blazers at the elbow much better:) x
Today I took off my first outfit in the morning because it was not ironed. It was good looking as a playground style but not elegant enough for work. Later I tucked in my pullover completly which gave me a nice waistline. When I was a kid and got to choose my very first costume I simply wanted to be an elegant lady. I remember that on many occassions, since elegance brings many inner qualities to the outside.
Great tips as usual Jess the only negative comment I have is trousers that a a touch too long and drag on the ground not a polished look in my opinion. I loved the first outfit with the olive green top I have a similar pair of trousers in that style and colour I will now have to find a similar olive green top. Hugs from Sydney Australia.😘
Good morning, I love your channel and style, you are very elegant! I'm so glad you brought up ironing. Do you steam your blouses or iron? I have been on Sezane's website looking at blouses several times, have not pulled the trigger yet. Care instructions say iron if needed. I'm sure the cotton ones need to be pressed. Do the silk one's need to be pressed and do you iron or steam yourself or send to the cleaners?
Which one do you use out of interest? Mine isnt brilliant in all honesty hence why I always reach for the iron instead but I'd like to get a better one:)
Laura, I've never had much luck with steaming. Do you lay your clothes down to steam them as the trouble I have with steaming is that the item moves too much on the hanger and I end up creasing the garment with the steam as it doesn't stay still. I have to pull the garment tight when steaming and that further moves it. Hope that makes sense! My steamer doesn't get a smooth finish either. Would love to hear your tips!
@JoR00ke Hi yes I do have to last most of the lighter items flat. I have the kind of steamer that has different barriers that you can put on it, so that you can literally place it on the surface of the clothes in an ironing motion.
Nice video! The tweed style jacket from outfit two from mango. How is the quality? The buttoms? I would like to buy one for this spring, I found a beautiful one from bash but too pricey. I wait for sezane to release one... Have you seen other ones perhaps with a better quality than mango? Where is from the one that you show together with the title of this video that is white with black stripes that you wear with jeans and a black belt? That one is super nice! Thanks for making such a good videos!
Thanks Jess, I really enjoyed this video! I love your style. Please could you link the underwear too as it’s something I feel I’m lacking in my wardrobe. Nice undies I mean, I do actually own some!! 🤣🤣👍☺️❤️
I couldn’t agree more, i also hate clothes that aren’t ironed. For a small amount of time and effort you look much more polished than looking like you slept in your clothes but you do see it all the time and it really ruins your look!
I think the reason that 1950's/early 60's clothes look elegant is that most models kept their hair off their collar. It makes for a neat, clean line when there isn't hair spilling down over the collar and front torso.
I hate the term “ quiet luxury “ it’s almost saying if you don’t meet these requirements, you don’t look elegant. I have both neutrals and color in my wardrobe. I can assure you I look elegant wearing both. As for “ logos “ it depends on how you style your logo items. I have a Louis Vuitton scarf that i wear in the Fall , Winter, and Spring it looks “ elegant” because I know how to style it. I typical wear it with a monochromatic outfit, the LV scarf accentuates the look. All these are great tips ; however people have their own personal style that can add balance to any outfit , be it logo or color! 😊
Hello. How do you address having a lovely outfit pulled together, but body curves (ie tummy rolls) show. It’s really not fun to wear body wear and a tank top, and a bra, and a form fitting top… so restrictive to try to look nice.
I like your fashion sense and prefer to dress more elegantly most days. But where I live, people dress in more utilitarian ways. They wear yoga pants and t-shirts as if they just came from the gym and are on their way back to the gym. And if they weren’t ever in the gym, it’s none of my business. But if I try to coordinate a look, however casual it may be, I am looked at as if I was trying to outdo or impress, when really I just like clothes and the way they can make me look. I don’t always hit the mark, but it’s just fun trying. Unless, of course, I am met with l questioning or even disdainful looks. 😕
Why do women insist on jeans and trousers that are waaaaaaay toooo short? It shortens the leg and makes you look shorter not to mention - it’s an absolute fashion faux pas to wear trousers/jeans that are not to the floor and does not cover the heel.
@@FashionStyleEdit Cropped jeans at the ankle bone looks like the pant leg is too short - a cropped pant leg should be about mid calve. In my opinion, any cropped pant leg is unattractive for the reasons I mentioned. But for certain I would never wear a pair of jeans in which the pant leg did not go to the floor and cover the heel of my.foot and chances are cover the heel of my shoe
Lovely outfits... Your shoulders are never parallel with the floor. Most likely muscle caused, can affect spine which then will affect internal organs and mobility. Can cause total collapse. We all have issues due to having a dominant side and not being ambidextrous (which is natural), but your posture is so obviously crooked. Perhaps an awesome visit to a good osteopath.... ? Just showing care/concern. Feel free to delete ❤
Her posture is just fine👍👍👏👏👏❣️❣️❣️❣️.I think you’re noting the shoulders on some articles of CLOTHING, but they’re NOT her actual shoulders,it is because she is ALSO the COOLEST 👏👏💐💐so she can pose with her left shoulder down a bit😊😉

Easy to forget, but the most important tip of all:) A little kindness will go a long way! Have a wonderful week ahead Katie:) x
“Elegant” has always been my favorite style word, I’m so glad elegant dressing is back in.
Me too Kimberly:) And those pieces last so much longer in your wardrobe too!
And no oversized anything
Great Vasco Thank You it seems to me brilliant❤

My mum would be exactly the same, lucky for me I do take up my hems! x
it is so refreshing to see content creators push through the noise (and honestly virtrol) of others who criticize and condemn those who enjoy an elevated and elegant style. with all of these outfits, I'm looking at you, rather than the pieces. great video!
Morning Jess, hope you’re all well?

Love this! I've come to the conclusion that (in general) prints make an outfit piece look cheaper & solid colour looks alot more refined & elegant irrelevant of the price tag.

I love your style. Thank you for all of the inspiration! Could you share the source for the jeans and cardigan in the cover image?
So glad you enjoyed it:) The jeans are from Weekday and the cardigan from Goelia x
Where did you get the cream lady jacket with black piping that’s in your thumbnail?
That one is from Goelia:)
Some of us hate ironing, you know😊
Haha yeah true, I’m strangely love it for some reason🤣
I still iron my jeans... And touch up shirts and pullover shirts...
A steamer has been a game changer for me. Crisp clothes in minutes with no ironing board and little effort.
The steamer takes me a longer than just getting the iron out!
@SK-lw9ku wow that's so funny! I actually avoid an iron because I have lymphoedema in my arm and a burn can cause serious complications.
So true! Why anyone would want to wear unironed clothes is beyond me but I guess my teenagers would beg to differ!
❤
all oversize clothes look like OVERSIZE CLOTHES ! 1) wear clothes that fit you 2) dont wear ALL Black and 3) wear colours that suit you
I think the reason that 1950's/early 60's clothes look elegant is that most models kept their hair off their collar.
Monochrome is correct 😅
Hello. How do you address having a lovely outfit pulled together, but body curves (ie tummy rolls) show. It’s really not fun to wear body wear and a tank top, and a bra, and a form fitting top… so restrictive to try to look nice.
Oversized never looks good on most. It looks like we are wearing our dads clothes😮
Yeah, but weather is always too cold or too hot.
Those outfits end up being unpractical to the body....because of the ..weather
Ugh oversized anything! It does not look elegant. It looks sloppy and like you couldn’t find the right size so settled for the one that didn’t fit.
Try to be nice, you might enjoy it 😃
normal
Better than being abnormal I guess🤨
I hate oversized, I just won’t wear it.
I notice that your left shoulder is always lower than your right shoulder. I notice that this picture does not do justice to your outfit.
Well not if they’re cropped jeans no:/
@@FashionStyleEdit Cropped jeans at the ankle bone looks like the pant leg is too short - a cropped pant leg should be about mid calve. In my opinion, any cropped pant leg is unattractive for the reasons I mentioned. But for certain I would never wear a pair of jeans in which the pant leg did not go to the floor and cover the heel of my.foot and chances are cover the heel of my shoe
Denim is NEVER classy
I'd have deleted it 🤨
What a weird comment.
@@maryraftery5583 yes, unnecessary
Haha thanks gorgeous😘 I think I’m just standing with my legs crossed so my shoulders look slanted?🤣🤣 I can uncross them haha!
