Big thanks to Robert for taking time from his tasks and commitments while on tour with Metallica in South America to come to my workshop, visit with me and all the fans, take many photos, sign autographs and even get up on stage for a little completely unplanned or prepared jam. This shows he is a good man, with a huge heart and love for his fans and for Warwick.

of course each have their unique styles,, plus Playing a 5 string vs a 6 string , the six string will give you obviously some higher tones,, as well ,, They compliment one another and were feeding off each other well,, SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO BE JEALOUS,, Rob has plenty of Experience and talent as Does Andy,, Great job to both

Huge Robert Trujillo fan here. He doesn't hold a candle to Andy Irvine. It just goes to show that being in a big name band doesn't mean you are better than a lesser known working musician, (although Andy is well known).the two didn't seem to fit together.

I also think playing with Lars all these years has caused Robert to devolve quite a bit from the days of Infectious and Suicidal. I remember seeing Robert play with Suicidal in Albany and he sounds like such a different player now. That said, he seems like SUCH a nice guy.

Does anyone have any tips for someone with smaller hands? I'm trying to get faster at playing my bass, but my left hand has trouble working up and down the fret board. I can't reach as far as other people can, and it's harder for me to play quickly if I have to do a scale from the first to the fifth fret.

It can also help to learn how to shift from one position from the other smoothly. Once you get that down, it should be easy to play fast. You don't necessarily need big hands to play fast. Also, don't try to overstrech, you could ruin your left hand that way.

probably right, its just Jason is a different kind of bass player. Rob likes the groove which is really cool in my opinion. I was just making the point that in 14 plus years there is no video of Jason doing anything else with any other band or single artist on stage or studio. But Rob has more freedom in metallica to do his thing and continue to be in the groove

YOU try playing 2nd fiddle to Andy Irvine in a solo situation! Bass was not designed to be a solo instrument anyway. His bass could use a good setup, damn buzzing makes me crazy when it's so prominent.Cmon' RT!

Matt Maulding what's he's doing is musical masturbation. While it sounds good it's not a reflection of someone's musical talent. The best and most requested musicians in the world aren't people who can do the most fancy stuff they're the ones who excel in the fundamentals of music.
