Check out his solo Band "Mass Mental? " he plays together with another bass player a drummer and two singers. They're making some crazy Metal-Funk-Rap Crossover stuff. Saw them live yesterday at Warwick Open Day in Markneukirchen and they kicked ass \m/
This is what I love about bass just jamming with friends to a drum beat and see what comes out,, an instrument is an extension of your soul,, and is beautiful
What a cool jam. Bass is the musical bridge to different styles. 3 guys from diff worlds making incredible off the cuff music. Steve Bailey blew me away in this and I didn't know P Nut was that heavy
Had to be a thrill for PNut to get to do that. He's a great funk/slap bass player. Always love the loose sound of his chord strokes and slaps. He can play tight bass but is at his best letting it sound thick and loose.
Amazing. Three completely different styles of bass playing layered into one, but its the kind of jam that any aspiring bass player could leap into and add something to. Bass guitar - the glue that holds music together.
Wow, what a jam. I love all of the playing in this but I'm completely blown away by how Trujilo is like some kind of turbo-charged bass monster machine throughout. Any chance of a live performance?
The thing is you have to change your style a little bit to fit in to the music you're going to play with or too you wouldn't expect a heavy metal bass player play heavy metal bass in a for example a jazz band
I couldn't stop grinning through the whole video, love it, shows the versatility of all players involved and most of, the versatility of an instrument most people think should just be hitting Roots in the lower octave.
Damn! That was some KILLER jam session!!! I play guitar, and I've been trying to improve my skills on bass. Watching this really inspires me to keep trying!
there is other players in the jam than trujillo . steve bailey is killing it man . if only wooten was in the jam . they did a great job on bass extremes
+Matthew Collis well the two fingers simulate a pick basically as it's almost the same with a pick, even slower as here one finger follows the other, while with a pick you have to stop the downforce of your hand and go upwards.
Hey, I know that guy Steve. I'm a guitar player mainly. Went to MI in the early 90s. That guy Steve must have been a teacher there back then. I used to see him a lot. Played some shows there too.Sick bass player, was playin his 2 by 6 ( 6 string) back then. He was into some different shit then but was really good. Kinda cool to see him again. He looks exactly the same. Doesn't he age???
It's like Steve Bailey is the Warwick Bus Master controlling energy with his superior fretless 6 string. Trujillo must prove himself at once to not get be banished by going harder then him, even though we know Bailey could do all that. Instead he chooses to rest in a neutral state of Pastorius-esque melody channeling, where the virtuoso players are essentially breathing. Then P-Nut is in the corner wanking off with a 4 string.
Dont know if you still want to know, but its probably "Fuzz"+ a little "distortion". I dont work with effect a lot, so dont take my word on it, but that would be my bet
was Trujillo missing something in that opening fast slap lick??? Shouldn't have been posted if not right. But Steve's tone and technique very clear, tight and right
What rt is doing is getting a third not from swiping his jndex finger back after plucking.you can get that down pretty easily. What Steve Bailey is doing requires more skill and practice.
sounds like a nintendo64 game, like in an rpg or someshit. like when it's battle time and you choose whether to attack or defense or potion. but still such a tasty jam, those are just my feeling towards this killer groove
Rob's style is so bizarre and unique. I dig it, man.
Lots of comments about Robert, but no love for my man P-Nut? Love that guy. Investigate 311!
Two of my favorite bassist for 3 of my favorite bands, Metallica, 311, and Suicidal Tendancies.
i think trujillo plays in metallica at 45% of his capabilities
excatly, and it's sad...
TheRevolutionnow If you could play at 45% of your capabilities for the amount of money he gets, you would.
Check out his solo Band "Mass Mental? " he plays together with another bass player a drummer and two singers. They're making some crazy Metal-Funk-Rap Crossover stuff. Saw them live yesterday at Warwick Open Day in Markneukirchen and they kicked ass \m/
dont think so,....he plays what suits the song,....to overdoing things is never good
We'll always enjoy his work with Suicidal Tendencies & Infectious Grooves.
This is what I love about bass just jamming with friends to a drum beat and see what comes out,, an instrument is an extension of your soul,, and is beautiful
I loved how P-nut starts playing around 3:11 in the video.. huge 311 fan
Let me hear ya say PNUT!
+Phantom4Ever85 P-NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT! :)
Beat that thang.
❤️
Best band in all the land!
What a cool jam. Bass is the musical bridge to different styles. 3 guys from diff worlds making incredible off the cuff music. Steve Bailey blew me away in this and I didn't know P Nut was that heavy
One of the funkiest bus rides ever.
“So you guys just all played bass at the same time kinda jam?
“Bass-ically”
Sadly, Jason Newsted was in this video too but Lars and James removed his parts.
311 NATION! This is our boy. Killing it!
sounded like some infectious grooves in there
Wow, what a jam. I love all of the playing in this but I'm completely blown away by how Trujilo is like some kind of turbo-charged bass monster machine throughout. Any chance of a live performance?
That was such a beautiful mash up!
robert the coolest metallica member
Robert Trujillo plays his Warwick signature model in chrome silver. Hope this helps!
THAT CHROME BASS IS FUKKIN' SIKKK ! ! ! !
I enjoyed that way too much - I would buy a whole Album of that
What a great bass player Rob is. Sucks that his talent is completley wasted in Metallica
David Catanus he gets paid in full though, 😎😁🙌🏽
The thing is you have to change your style a little bit to fit in to the music you're going to play with or too you wouldn't expect a heavy metal bass player play heavy metal bass in a for example a jazz band
Man I was thinking the same thing
Ahhh........Horrible take.
He could easily do a solo project if he wanted to. He loves playing in Metallica as far as i can tell, and is probably making a fortune doing it.
i love that combination, the metal bass and the very jazzy fretless mwah sound
Man, that chrome bass looks SICK! 🤘😍
Cool stuff!
All three are monster players!
Awesome music by three talented bass players. Nice jam.
My forearms hurt just watching this
I couldn't stop grinning through the whole video, love it, shows the versatility of all players involved and most of, the versatility of an instrument most people think should just be hitting Roots in the lower octave.
Damn! That was some KILLER jam session!!! I play guitar, and I've been trying to improve my skills on bass. Watching this really inspires me to keep trying!
This clip is awesome. Robert Trujillo is a BASS player, perhaps, THE bass player.
PNut may be the most underrated bass player in music...lots of people think 311 is this just a reggea/ska band but they fuckin wail! Funky as hell
there is other players in the jam than trujillo . steve bailey is killing it man . if only wooten was in the jam . they did a great job on bass extremes
look how much power Robert is bringing to your speaker!!!
love roberts eyes he's hearing the song and thinking what to play every sec, jamming
roberts the time keeper so those guys can play fills and move around just listen.
Incredible rip. Thanks for posting Rob.
Trujillo is untouchable here... the bass sounds great
is Rob doing those fast sixteenths with two fingers?
No, he's doing something like geddy lee. back and forth with the middle finger.i can do it faster than 2 fingers
yup. and Steve Bailey can do 32nd note arpeggios off all 6 strings on a fretless. there are some BEASTS playing on Team Warwick.
+Matthew Collis
well the two fingers simulate a pick basically as it's almost the same with a pick, even slower as here one finger follows the other, while with a pick you have to stop the downforce of your hand and go upwards.
Steve Bailey is godly at bass.
Rob as well :)
An orgy of bass, gotta love it! 🎸👍
Jazz, heavy rock and funk combined. My kind of mix!
Rob is so awesome!
Bassists make the best faces while playing.
"Jason is better than Trujillo"
Oh really ????!!! =D
Says anyone too young to know of Robert's earlier work.
Not really. There's a difference between who's a better fit for Metallica and which one got better chops.
Jason is a better fit for Metallica. Seriously can’t stand Rob on stage
Think. Les Claypool was almost in the band lol
@@erikvaldur3334 I just wanted a Pepsi
jesus christ rob is a dam beast

holy shit i just clicked for fun. these two are a scary crew. nice work.
Robby T baby!!! These 3 should hit the road. I would buy a ticket.
this is good, but can any of them play songs from Fall Out Boy?
I didn't want this to end
311's got the boom ya'll
Who's got the herb?
Awesome Bass Jam!!....Trujillo, Bailey & P-Nut tearin' it up!!!
That was awesome!!!!
I love the way he plays bass 🔥🤟
The story of a musician and two drummers.
This is the first time that I see Trujillo with pants! Hehehe
more p-nut please
this is amazing
1:50 2:36 oooooh TRUJILLO !!!
This is awesome.... and this is why I think Rob is the best in metallica...
Trujillo is a beast!
Robert Trujillo wobbles extrem
Steve Bailey plays very clean.
Beautiful.
Awsome,love that jam
It's like Steve Bailey is the Warwick Bus Master controlling energy with his superior fretless 6 string. P-nut's 4 string has 5 strings. weird.
Clueless
i LOVE how rob just sits there and makes it look as easy as breathing
this is an awesome jam!
I cannot believe they're jamming this
😮
The most metal looking bass ever !
daaaaaaaaaaaamn great
Does anyone knows where the fuck we could buy Trujilo's amazing chrome bass ?? ^^
Hello Julien .B! Check this out: warwick.de/de/Warwick--Produkte--Instrumente--Made-in-Germany--Signature-Serie--Robert-Trujillo-Signature--4-Saiten--Bilder.html

That was all kinds of cool!
Rob is a beast
Metal Jazz ^^
Very Nice .. !!!
RoberTrujillo is next next next level !!
I somehow feel inadequate about my own bass playing now.
Mega cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best
Dont know if you still want to know, but its probably "Fuzz"+ a little "distortion".
I dont work with effect a lot, so dont take my word on it, but that would be my bet
Need......more........gain!!!!!!!
wow,robert rock
This is fucking incredible
pretty sure its an mxr DI OD thingy.
the big muff deluxe came out after this video was filmed
was Trujillo missing something in that opening fast slap lick??? Shouldn't have been posted if not right. But Steve's tone and technique very clear, tight and right
+Clement Thomas no he wasn`t
NICE!!!!!!!!!
Love him
i love Trujillo's tone. what does he use beside the streamer?
2:52
That's fucking impressive. Steve has to use three fingers to go that fast, and Robert only has to use two.
2:52
What rt is doing is getting a third not from swiping his jndex finger back after plucking.you can get that down pretty easily.
What Steve Bailey is doing requires more skill and practice.
I'm a traditionalist and would actually say rob and pnut way of playing is more correct
Trujillo is gnarly good.
trujillos a beast with the gallop style mixed with slap etc.
awesssssooommmmeee, Roberto he is master of bass
Sin palabras, un placer. ...
As a beginner bass player, this is one of the most inspiring fucking things I've seen yet lol
sounds like a nintendo64 game, like in an rpg or someshit. like when it's battle time and you choose whether to attack or defense or potion. but still such a tasty jam, those are just my feeling towards this killer groove
Crazy groove.
I heard Steve Bailey is listed in the musical credits for Megaman....
Needs more lets say 10 more bass here!! Find fucking fucked!! Roberto!!! Fuck yeah!
He carries his bass onto the bus… without a case…😂
Rob rulezzzzz

Trujillo is fucking amazing..go hell yeee
