Caveat: This is not about Art. I just like to exchange old sayings. Heard from my co-workers about inept or lazy government employees: "There's never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over." And I observed too much that proved this saying.

It works for me. I like brass rods best, they helped me find the leak in the waterline, I can also find underground power. Of course, we call 811 for real but my marks are the same as theirs for the power line. You probably found an underground spring or a vein of water in the rock line, the excavator will find it! That might also be the water that is causing the mold in the house. Stand over the known source of water and you can follow the pipe. It will show you when you step away from it.

@@IceLynne Water witching / dowsing is full blooded demonic, and is spiritually dangerous. This is one of Satan’s ‘practical devices’ used to lure people into his kingdom and gain access into their lives.
Much of the time, those who practice this will use a piece of wood, while others will use coat hanger wires. They claim that only certain people have the ‘ability’ to do it. If there was a scientific reason, then anybody could do it! Some can only use wire, while others can use wood but not metal, others can even use specific kinds of wood and not others! One man may be able to use cherry wood while another oak, but they couldn’t swap sticks and still do it.
Don’t be deceived, it’s occult power behind this practice, just like a Ouija board. Even though the Bible doesn’t specifically speak of an Ouija board, doesn’t mean it’s a harmless toy. It’s still occult, and the Bible makes it clear we are to have nothing to do with the occult.

Are you asking for a water line or a water source. There’s a difference.

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Art, your water source up the hill is a spring, you said. Where there's one spring, there are usually several, but that doesn't mean they're all at the same depth. Water routes through the soil at the easiest path in all directions, even up and down. You can find other springs by looking for surface signs sometimes... deep green patches of grass, shrubs growing naturally in a row, actual damp spots, etc. Sometimes you can see it from above (drone footage or Google Earth).
My grandpa dowsed for my parents' new well... that one was 372 feet below ground... and the river was closer than that. LOL 🤣

Praying Bri and children feel better soon and that you don't get sick. Hindsight is always 20/20, foresight more like 5/5 but you found the pipe eventually and tomorrow is another day. I'm sure you've heard the saying "we make plans and God laughs" so don't be hard on yourself. In his perfect time, everything will be done. I needed to hear and see this today since I've been putting off for 2 years the sorting, discarding, and finishing remodel projects to sell my home. It's almost too late since I used to be able to do a lot myself but not anymore. Your words at the beginning encouraged me to keep doing what I can, the rest I'll have to have help with but I need to do the clearing out first. It's a daunting job. ☺️💕🙏

I'd like to share a perspective on "goal setting," if you focus on "setting the intention, then proceed in taking action, step by step, your experience becomes filled with less judgement and expectation and more present awareness. Are we seeking joy and peace within the experience of doing, or are we driven by pushing ourselves too hard, with stress?
Embrace your moment, become fully conscious of your experience and the results will come with more ease and peace.

This video is reality- we all have tough choices to make everyday. What I heard Bri say was that even tho she feels rotten, she recognizes how important your making progress on the house is to you and to Bri. All we can do is our best everyday (which we all know is contingent on each days unique situation. As I said before, if you don’t even try, you’ll get nothing done. If you start something and you get called away you will still have accomplished something. Keep up the good work- and recognize it IS good work. Blessings. Ok, now I’m gonna yell at you! LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF, AND GOD DOESNT WANT THAT FOR YOU. GIVE YOURSELF GRACE ( unmerited favor, not your daughter!). You made decisions based on the info in front of you, that’s the best any of us can do. (Btw, I don’t know anything about dousing, but you may have been identifying water, just not your water line). Finally, you did accomplish stuff today, even if It wasn’t what you wanted to. What’s the saying? If you want to make God laugh, make a list. ( which presumably didn’t include His direction). I’m not getting angry at you, I know from my experience that if you keep expecting the extraordinary from yourself ( that isn’t direction from God) He’s gonna have to get your attention and that mostly isn’t any fun. So, have you asked God to go before you in this endeavor, do you ask Him to set your to do list daily, to give you the discernment and discipline you need to finish this job....IN HIS TIME? I’m sure I’m not the only person who is praying for y’all on a daily basis. You can do this. blessings

@@gladysanderson1351 I'm not trying to be a smart alec; a project manager knows how to move the logistics of a build along they would make sure you have the right amount of materials on-site when you need them and they schedule any inspections and make sure different subs aren't working over each other. It's a real art and it is worth paying for because it would translate into tons of time and frustration saved.

Dowsing is interesting. My grandma dowses and my dad is a well driller. I’ve walked with her using a dowsing stick (she uses a crotch branch from a fruit bearing tree) and with her hands around mine the sticks has turned (no matter how tight you hold it). That being said my dad drilled on dowsed spots for 20 years and now undowsed for the last 20 years and the percentage of wells with water verses dry wells has always been about the same.

Art our well was witched by an 86 year old man using both peach tree sticks and the wires. The well guy was amazed at the area he wanted us to dig. The well has 3 veins feeding it and was never successful at doing a fill time test because he couldn't get it cleaned out with water. We are beyond grateful for this technique. I believe what you discovered was a vein. I would imagine there are many with the mountains in your area. Bri, I hope you and the kids are feeling better soon.

Art, I homeschooled for 28 years and my husband never stayed home from work to take care of me when I was sick. That's a reality of life for most couples with children - parents usually have to tough it out when they are sick. Just because you are a nurse it doesn't mean you need to exclusively care for the sick, either. Don't feel selfish for working on that "To Do" list, you are actually helping Bri feel better, faster because she is heartened by seeing progress on the house.
It's a few days after you videoed but I will still pray for your family's health and healing. (After all, God is outside of time so is there really such a thing as a prayer too late?)

I used to use them all the time when I buried phone cable. I was taught that it works because of a disruption in the earth's magnetic field. Copper or brass rods work the best. I could find power cables or water lines and tell you how deep they were and it was fairly accurate. Always dig at the source first. At the beginning of the video you pointed exactly which way that water line went and 5 minutes later you were second guessing yourself. Oh well you got some exercise and now you know.

A set of goals are something you work towards. If you don't make your goal adjust your expectations or double the effort! Don't see missing your goals as failure but an opportunity for reflection.

The funniest story I could tell on my dad was he was "witching" with a "y" stick (he'd go through sticks until he found the one he wanted) for a friend & following where the stick led; he had the stick dip down, but he was going to go further - the stick suddenly "pulled" down & dad did an armless summersailt landing on his back & the stick still pointed down in that location.
The friend had it drilled & about 10 feet down they hit water.
The funniest thing yhough was the expression on dad's face as he went over & landed on his back.... we all laughed at that one.
He stopped DCowsing soon after as he had his neck & back broken and could not risk doing another summersault.... which was a shame as he enjoyed doing it for friends occassionally.

My father was a successful water dowser and did it for lots of folks as did his dad and I can do it too, but i don't do it except for my self as needed. Dad and Grandpa were dedicated conservative evangelical Christian men. I do not understand why it works but they could do it with peach or willow branches or with metal rods. My dad could tell how deep it was to strike water. And I saw the branches bend so hard it would break the branch.

    Dowsing is for water sources.
New waterlines should be wrapped in metal ribbons so you can find them with a metal detector.

One of the things I like about this vlog is that Art, our hero of the story, makes for great video content. Over and over again.
When we had to find irrigation waterlines in our yard, I started at the known junction and just dug up the old line. Grunt work. No fun, but necessary. It made some unusual turns, but I just followed it. Done. Boring, but effective.
When Art needs to dig up a water line, we get a story - the goal, the overwhelming nature of the work ahead, the hero's desire to make it faster and easier, the Big search, his memories cobbled together with what other people have told him, a fun demonstration of dowsing from two people who know absolutely nothing about dowsing, a ton of energy expended in the wrong direction, and finally, at long last, the hero acknowledges the futility of attempting a short cut and resigns himself to the actual work of the job (the equivalent of which he has already done at least once and often two or three times over), and simply gets the job done. Story arc perfection. And it keeps me coming back for more. 😁

I have dowsed before, and even managed to shock the well digger by accurately telling him the exact depth to dig before hitting water. For me, the key to understanding dowsing is the mental component and how it relates to the physical testing. As a bit of background, I am a chiropractor trained in muscle testing to read people for nutritional deficiencies and system challenges. My experience with dowsing is that it functions as a form of muscle testing to the point where I was able to stop using the rods/sticks entirely after I got comfortable mentally with what I was testing for.
The basic idea is that our bodies are extremely sensitive to electromagnetic fields and other environmental signals to where just focusing mental intent on a specific goal or item can result in a readable change in our bodies when that intent is matched. The rods in this case serve as a visual output for that change but are not the cause of the change. Clarification of intent is critical to getting accurate output, if you just want water it may read an underground stream or spring instead of a waterline. Clear intent takes practice, and you can psych yourself out and get inconsistent readings. Also be aware that there are challenges such as chemical overloads, infections, cellphone signals, etc. that can be effecting your body that will disrupt the bodies capacity for a clean output and give confused or inconsistent outputs. All these points may explain the status of dowsing as "pseudoscience" because the variables have not fully been accounted for in the testing.

That's really cool. When they try it in scientific experiments they bury lines of water under featureless terrain. In those conditions it basically never works. I wonder if perhaps your body picks up on subtle clues in the terrain, maybe slight dips or changes in colour, density underfoot, things like that. I say that because even relatively sensitive equipment doesn't detect changes in electromagnetic signals, so maybe the more environmental ones. The other problem is that in science they tend to average everyone out so probably people really bad at it average out the people really good at it, but i'd have to read papers to find that out and who can be bothered, if it works for you and you believe it who can really say otherwise.
