I just don’t know how Meg has the time to do everything she does. All the cooking canning freezing garden work house work homeschooling and editing the videos. She is truly a super woman.
All the kids are amazing but little Buggy is just so enthusiastic and helpful for her age. I love watching her helping out with everything on the farm and in the kitchen. Such a little blessing to your lives. Karen
I love that you guys actually cook what you grow and harvest, and what you cook actually looks delicious. I love that you don't continually preach about how much better your lifestyle is (you just show it). I love that you actually can build stuff on your own. I love that you don't have a host of fans or off camera helpers doing the work. I love that you aren't taking handouts from your audience, or that you haven't had a nervous breakdown, or exploit your children for views. You just kind of do your thing, honestly and impressively.
I think it's important to remember that many of the channels that cater to homesteading are friends and acquaintances to each other, so to insult other channels could potentially mean you are insulting someone's friend (s). 😊
I think showing everything is tacky. The Hollars remain private whilst reaching out to us. They have the balance right. But I agree that prostituting your family (on a well-known chanel) could backfire when the children are older.
Ben, How about if you took super thin wood/plastic/etc maybe 8 inch x water pipe length and attach the top edge to the side and let the other edge hang down against the outside top of the water pipe. Creating a half roof over the waterpipe that chickens would slide off of, so no drinking bird get pooped on. lol Meg, when you open y'all's oven I drool a little. Guys, great to see you being cool farm hands, respect. Littlest is a joy, I here for the next 20 years to see who she grows into.
Glad you got needed rain. We got a fraction of an inch Sunday. I stood out in it. We haven't had a drop since May. We need more badly. It's so dry though that it needs to be slow steady rain to avoid flash flooding. Pray this heat dome breaks all the way down here in Texas soon. We have been baked beyond done this summer.
The Yellow Finch loves zinnias, echinacea and sunflower seeds. They perch on my echinacea seed heads pecking out seeds until the stems are on the ground! It's okay! I planted it for them and the bees and butterflies! Pretty Birds!
Great video - chickies, and kitchen and smoker but I have to mention how cute the little fence around Megs garden looks - so tidy and neat! Blessings to you as the storm.approaches. God bless and keep you safe ❤
I have watched you and the”others” since you all began and I love you all but you have kept it within my range - I connect with how you build and garden and make mistakes and how you work together whether cooking or building - I know someday you all will expand but right now you inspire me and I want Meg’s cookbook - no measurements needed just photos and the love that goes with them ❤️❤️❤️
It’s in side but peppers they like it’s not a staple item for me or small ones hot it’s pretty but they are hot -mild never messed other than Bell peppers you use for stuffed peppers pepper relish. It was pretty do I stoped all this basic but not big canned lol good food fresh I like no frozen meats or in grill those boys work hard
Yellow finches love sun flowers.....when mine are in full bloom in the field and the yellow finches decide to fly away, they make a yellow haze over the field.....drinking coffee on my front porch watching them is very relaxing......from one fellow North Carolina family to another North Carolina family.........really enjoy your videos....
You all have it, the good life. No one has to go off to work, you are pretty much food secure, I applaud you, too late for me but, I remember growing up like that on ten acres in the 60's. ( didn't appreciate it back then, but do now.)
A tip for the water tube. Hang a steel wire an inch above the tube, make sure it's tight and won't sag. If a chicken or chick tried to get on the tube to roost they end up on the wire, they won't be able to get a grip and will slide off.
Nice chicken tractor, Ben! The little chicks didnt know what to think about all that grass!!! So cute seeing them automatically drinking water from the new waterer!!! They jnew what to do! You will put wheels on won't you? Salsa looks so beautiful after you canned it! What a light show at the end! Get ready for an abundance of rain from Hurricane Idalia heading into Florida late tonight or early morning.
Last Thursday we had a huge lightening flash storm for about 3 - 4 hours it was 10X better than fireworks with all the blues, pinks, purples, and greens, and yellows. Then the wind picked up to about 45 m.p.h. and the sky dumped the rain. My county, most lost their power. Some just got it back on this evening. Many limbs & branches down. But previous storms had already taken the weak trees down this summer. I love the lightshows.
I LOVE your channel, it is one of my top favorites. Meg, you are a canning queen! I seriously have no idea where you find the energy to do all that you do every day. Your family is blessed to have you as wife and Mother! What do you do for self care or to socialize to avoid burnout? And Ben, is there anything you cannot build or create? Your family is amazing! Loved that you cooked one of Brett's pumpkins, looked very tasty. Thanks for sharing!
We are in Lake Lure, NC and we had the same no rain experience. Lots of thunder but no rain. Finally saw some on Monday night and then a good portion of today. Yea! My plants are so happy.
Waiting for my shift to begin, I sit alone in the parking lot of a huge steaming papermill catching your latest drop. You guys make me smile despite myself. Love you for that feeling of shared joy. Thank you.
Chicks look happy. Good job Ben. Don't know if the tropical storm will hit your area be safe. ( yes i saw the lightning & thunder) Hot sauce looks good. Meg as usual dinner look delicious. I like watching you preserve your produce wish i had a dehydrater back in the day. Blessings to you and the family. 😊🇺🇲
I learned recently, that if you use pepper peppercorn, you should roast the pepper corns before you mill them.(roast them like a nut) I didn’t believe this, but I roasted them in a skillet on the stove top, and I am pleasantly surprised because I don’t even use a fraction of the amount of Pepper I used to use. The peppercorn flavor is extremely intensifies the flavor of the pepper corns. Also read an article that they said, instead of throwing the skin of a tomato away there’s a lot of nutrients in the skin of the tomato there if you dehydrate and powder tomato skin. Now I’m new to your channel. I just found it this week and these are things learned recently. Hope this is useful if not, please disregard. Thank you Hollar family for all your hard work!
Nice built chicken tractor. A job well done. The chicken tractor need a barrier at the bottom to keep critters out, also to keep the blowing rain from getting on them. The tarp should be longer to help keep the rain out on-those rainy days. Just a thought. The things you build and do is making things better for the future. I love your videos and especially seeing what Meg is cooking. Everything looks so delicious. Be safe, keep cool and live life to the fullest. Bye for now❤❤
Awesome chicken tractor 👍. 🐓🐓 The end of the video, minus the lightning, I sit out on my step every night and listen to the night bugs. A lot of ppl here say August bugs, some others say summer bugs 😄 because spring is frogs and crickets. A bug is a bug 👍. But listening to them in the dark is somehow just soothing. So glad you got rain 😕. It rains here every few days. And I mean it RAINS. A lot of my beefsteak tomatoes are splitting cause of so much wet. Those are my slicer tomatoes 😩. I’ll have some but not like I wanted.
You two work so well together....I'm so glad you decided to work it out ❤😊 Been following you since the beginning. It's a treat to watch ya'll now going strong ❤ (That was some serious lightning 🌩)😮
🤤Salsa looks delicious! Your meat chickens sure seemed happy in the grass! Happy birds make tasty dinners! We have had a cooler than normal summer so we have only had one electrical storm like that, Always reminds me of strobe lights! I hope y’all will be safe from the upcoming Hurricane Idalia! Definitely will be praying for you all! 🙏💖🙏
On the weekends when you guys don't post videos my TH-cam algorithm feeds me old hollar videos. A couple days ago there was one that was 3 years old where Jack was cooking a chicken dinner for crock-tober month. It took me a few minutes to realize what looked so different. The shelves hadn't been put up in your kitchen yet so everything looked so empty. And of course Jack looked so young lol. Ironically he was crying while chopping onions just like Meg did in this video!
Buggie already learning to video is awesome! She is so brilliant. Dad, I think I need to get another chip to make sure, another chip to double check lmao!
Mrs Hollar, please remember to be kind to yourself and take time for yourself so you can recharge your batteries. I truly admire your whole work ethic in catering for your family. They are blessed to have you to take care of them. I heard on the latest podcast that you guys have sold your darling cow. I understand why, but Mrs Hollar, you must surely miss your sweet bovine friend. Best wishes to you and your beautiful family. Cheers from Australia. 👏🏻🇦🇺🦘
Big thunderstorm! When that happens out here in southern Oregon we know that another round of wild fires have started. We have been in Hazardous air quality for two weeks now. Wish we could get a downpour like yours. Love the chicken tractor.
Yep! Lightning strikes fires were the first thing I thought about this last week when a thunderstorm woke me up in the early hours… in the Mid-Willamette Valley, Oregon.
Amazing kitchen treats. My mouth was watering. Love salsa and hot sauce. Chicken looked very tasty too. Chicken house for meat birds? A+. Well done. Can hardly wait for piglets. ❤
I do love a good thunderstorm! Ben , you could take one of those single tool pouches and make a discreet fanny pack. It would allow you to keep your batteries and your dignity.
Please share the chipotle in Adobe recipe. I have lots of red jalapenos and have always wanted to smoke and can them. Meat birds look very happy love the new chicken pen. Love the multiple taste tests that means it yummy looks delicious 😊
Ship some of that rain this way please! Nice lightning, and thunder show the end of your video. That new chicken house is so much better. I think your birds like it. The hot sauce requires at least 5 tastes😊
Those chillis in Australia called chilli bells and they are so hot it is difficult to eat it for some people. I did some chilli jam and wrote on the bottle "☠️poison"😊 I usually can eat very hot stuff but mine this time turned out so hot I am still eating a small bottle since over a year and a half. Love the end of the video. We also had some welcome rain today so I know how you feel. 🫂to you all. 🌶🌶🌶for Meg doing all those jars.❤
I think I would put a waterer on both sides using two buckets! Especially good in hot weather. Plenty of water for the chickens. Looks like you guys are going to get some hurricane rain this week! Keep an eye on the birds….I know you will! The hot sauce looks fantastic!
I was waiting and waiting for the next video. I’m happy now lol you guys are awesome family down to earth. People in the world. Loves you. Absolutely loves you.😊 they are going to love it so very much once they get used to it that is so cool you did a good job Ben
Your videos continues to inspire, your chicken tractor and water system has given me ideas for our next coop build. Also loving the lightning display they're always so beautiful.
I snapped my beans and set down too watch your video. I've been learning how can different things from you all. I've been getting just a pint and a half of beans and cherry tomatoes and day and tricolored peppers ate just coming on good. Hopefully enough too make spaghetti sauce and stewed tomatoes that I use for soups and stews. And too freeze for fajitas.
Those Chicken nipple waters are great only in warm temperatures! I loved them until they froze. Will work great for meat birds tho! Thanks for sharing the light show.
Now is the time to build long lasting infrastructure for the future while you are young and you have so much good help. When the boys are grown and have their own places to care for, you will already have what you need to keep growing food.
LOVE CACHUCHAS! 🥰 As A Cuban myself, I can tell you that they are a staple in Cuban black beans as well as many other dishes. They freeze fantastically, therefore you can throw them whole in any recipe where you want a mild spicy, sweet kick. P.S: they’re amazing in scrambled eggs. 😁
When I lived in Austin, I got bad allergies twice a year from cypress blooming, around April and October. So I made what I call 'Fire Soup', beginning with some browned chicken thighs and wings (bone in and skin), then roasted some poblanos in the chicken fat, put those and the chicken in a pot with 2 cans of chopped tomatoes, add 2 diced white onions, a whole peeled head of garlic cloves (or more), some chopped carrot, celery, cilantro, a can of chipotle in adobo, liquid to cover (water broth or stock), bring to a boil, turn down to a simmer, add some stale crushed corn tortillas or corn chips, cook for about 2 hours. Clears lungs and sinuses so you can breathe again. Freezes great, and cooked chipotles get hotter with time - even frozen. It is more like a chicken stew since I leave the bones in. Excellent for the immune system. Every time ya'll harvest your peppers, I think of this soup and how many ways you could change it up with all those peppers. I figure now is a good time to note it for posterity.
IF you love a spicy pepper with a TON of flavor, you should try growing Hatch Chile Peppers. I get my seeds from the Sandia Seed company and they grow like Crazy here in North Central Arkansas. I roast them and make salsa and also freeze dry them so I can use them all year long in my cooking.
Hi guys. I really would like to see where you store all your food. Food storage video please. Would be a good winter video. Your far to busy at this time.😊
It's been much longer than that since we have had rain. Our grass is s dead it hurts my feet to walk on it. :( I have some tough feet to. Glad you guys got some. We got some yesterday and its saying rain is coming now. Fingers crossed.
Nice job on the chicken tractor Ben! 😊 Meg, your cooking n canning makes my mouth water!!! 💕 If only there was smellavision! 😊 another beautiful family video! God bless you!
I love the fact you pray before you eat. That means so much in this day and age. Keep doing what you do
I must say and say it loud, MRS HOLLAR…YOU DO ALOT OF WORK!…
Totally needs cloned
I just don’t know how Meg has the time to do everything she does. All the cooking canning freezing garden work house work homeschooling and editing the videos. She is truly a super woman.
SUPER WOMAN 💖💖👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Live you Meg you need rest just stop all this bless you
Two really nice shout outs from Three Rivers Homestead on her Sunday video for you guys!
All the kids are amazing but little Buggy is just so enthusiastic and helpful for her age. I love watching her helping out with everything on the farm and in the kitchen. Such a little blessing to your lives. Karen
She is the sweetest little thing 💗
Lighting and thunder are the best fireworks ever!!😊
I love that you guys actually cook what you grow and harvest, and what you cook actually looks delicious. I love that you don't continually preach about how much better your lifestyle is (you just show it). I love that you actually can build stuff on your own. Well said.
ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!!
I think it's important to remember that many of the channels that cater to homesteading are friends and acquaintances to each other, so to insult other channels could potentially mean you are insulting someone's friend (s).
😊
Yes, all of the above 💫
👵🏻👩🌾❣️
I think showing everything is tacky. The Hollars remain private whilst reaching out to us. They have the balance right. But I agree that prostituting your family (on a well-known chanel) could backfire when the children are older.
Always excited to see when you put up a new video 😊
Nice chicken tractor!
Love the kids’s camera work and commentary!
You all are brilliant, energetic ,and oh soooo real! I wish you were my neighbors!
Ben, How about if you took super thin wood/plastic/etc maybe 8 inch x water pipe length and attach the top edge to the side and let the other edge hang down against the outside top of the water pipe. Creating a half roof over the waterpipe that chickens would slide off of, so no drinking bird get pooped on. lol
Meg, when you open y'all's oven I drool a little. Guys, great to see you being cool farm hands, respect. Littlest is a joy, I here for the next 20 years to see who she grows into.
Great idea on covering the water pipe to keep the poop off.
As for the radar showing rain that you can't see---our local weatherman used to tell us that the rain was evaporating before it hit the ground.😄
I'm surprised Ben hasn't fabricated some kind of fork extender for the tractor yet.
My work uses long steel tubes that just fit over the forks to extend them. Works great and can be easily removed when not needed.
The Solar Flare messed up the radio and radar in North America. Can't believe how much cooking you get done in a day. Pumpkin looks so yummy. 💞
Ben is a very thorough quality control guy.
I also love watching storms - the kids were really enjoying the power of that storm!! The power of nature...........
So nice to see Meg sitting in her rocking chair resting her feet!
LOVED the lightning and the sound of crickets at the end!
The color of the jars are stunning 🤤
The Yellow Finch loves zinnias, echinacea and sunflower seeds. They perch on my echinacea seed heads pecking out seeds until the stems are on the ground! It's okay! I planted it for them and the bees and butterflies! Pretty Birds!
Great video - chickies, and kitchen and smoker but I have to mention how cute the little fence around Megs garden looks - so tidy and neat! Blessings to you as the storm.approaches. God bless and keep you safe
❤
Loved seeing the birds enjoying the grass!
Loved that lightning!! We need rain so bad
Love your channel guys
It warms my heart to see you guys so happy and content. You've all come a long way since you moved on that land.
I really love watching y’all. Family living. ❤❤
It is always good to watch you living your lives.
So happy you finally got enough peppers to make the hot sauce
The lighting was epic!!!
Love seeing you all around the dinner table, together.
I have watched you and the”others” since you all began and I love you all but you have kept it within my range - I connect with how you build and garden and make mistakes and how you work together whether cooking or building - I know someday you all will expand but right now you inspire me and I want Meg’s cookbook - no measurements needed just photos and the love that goes with them ❤️❤️❤️
I sometimes think Ben turned that mobile home into a TARDIS…. Where does all of that amazing food get stored!!!
Right! Anyone who says they can't can and garden cause they don't have room.....Meg will prove them wrong. Her kitchen is so cute and functional
Lol you make room where you can - my kitchen is a game of tetris until we can build more storage areas
I must you can it u will find a place
Say

Always puts a smile on my face when I can watch The Holar Homestead.

Our radar for rain, same….and no rain when it rains…ghost in the machine

This ol' retired gal learned from you, Meg... i have a bag of diced and a bag of sliced onions in the freezer now. SO handy!!

As I was watching the lights show on your video, we had our own and the lights are out in the neighborhood 💡 thanks God for oil lamps ! Blessings 💕🤗
🎉 channel has grown 9,000 in the last few months! Horah!! I wonder if your 3 guys chats are also helping with that❤ great video here!!
I can't wait to hear thunder and get some rain...it's been 2 months in North Texas without rain. Super hot and dry. Love your channel, best wishes!
yes, it's awful
Hey welcome back the Hollars
Love the thunder storm at the end
We need a tour where all the canned goods are stashed around the house. I need ideas! 😂
Waiting for my shift to begin, I sit alone in the parking lot of a huge steaming papermill catching your latest drop. You guys make me smile despite myself. Love you for that feeling of shared joy. Thank you.
Sitting in a Chick Fila in suburbia with a view of the Philly skyline enjoying the peacefulness of another Hollar Homestead episode.
Chicks look happy. Good job Ben. Don't know if the tropical storm will hit your area be safe. ( yes i saw the lightning & thunder)

I dehydrated jalapeños and then put them in my high speed blender to create a chipotle powder. It is amazingly good and quite spicy.
🤤Salsa looks delicious! Your meat chickens sure seemed happy in the grass! Happy birds make tasty dinners! Here in North Texas, we haven’t had rain in like 3 months and 107-110 degrees for weeks.
Amazing water delivery. Love seeing clean water delivered to animals. Great video chickens and kitchen duties‼️
All's good. 🕊️
