I love that rhulks song is calculated and Ramps up only when the light theme starts to match and then overpower it. While Nezyquik over here is frantic the whole time…
that moment at 4:39 where the Guardian theme kicks in makes me THRILL. I love a heroic reprise of a protagonist theme in the middle of a boss theme. So satisfying.
@@Hyde_FollowerOfMercuryThis is actually the Guardian theme while Beyond Light is using the same thing on a much darker tone. I'd love a double bossfight of Rhulk and Nezarec, kinda like Ornstein and Smough (in spirit) from dark souls. Only they're both fast and one bugs out on slightly raised surfaces...
@@Captain_Yata imagine oryx zivu and savathun all at once obviously toned down a bit to be like a normal raid boss attacking from 3 areas thatd be sick
After Byfs lore video, this song has only gotten better. It represents the ressurected nez so well with brass and strings in conflict throughout (like how nez is a conflicted creation of both light and dark). All leading to them being in a form of harmony during dps as we wield both light and dark to defeat him. The vocal solo is a cherry ontop, I interpret it as the stakes in the song representing how the neomuni struggle with the nightmare and how we're fighting nez to save them.
Tbh in this fight nezarec isn’t just a disciple anymore he now has slight power of the light and he’s exited to try it out and this is also party why he was defeated tried to use a power he wasn’t meant to have or control. I still personally wish it had some nightmares in it after all it is called “the root of nightmares” I was expecting to maybe see a few in here
7:25 has to be one of the best endings to a raid boss' theme. Really does seem like you just did the impossible and have done an amazing act of good in such a dire time.
To be fair, Rhulk has better lore and clout as a raid boss because he was the DISCIPLE PRIME underneath the witness; and he was essentially crippled when we fought him in his pyramid from when Savathun imprisoned him in there. Nezarec doesn't hold a candle to Rhulk as a boss only because no other disciple can match him, PERIOD. That being said, nez still cool tho
Nothing in gaming beats the feeling of the swell of our own theme sung by an angelic choir as we slam DPS with our squad into a so-called God (4:52). Guardians make their own fate indeed.
god 1:25 is so grand, almost too grand considering nezarec is a pushover, wonder how they're gonna top it for the final shape anyway. the first disciple also sets a really high bar, running up to rhulk's platform as the damage phase section starts is unparalleled
This song truly makes it feel like everything you have done has led to this ,Nezerack bringer of the first collapse slaughter of thousands he truly deserves to be at the top
0:34 I ADORE the progression of the Cabal motif, the Darkness/Witness/Pyramid motif into the angelic rendition of the Guardian motif and the Strength motif
1:54 and 4:39 HOOH, THAT LOOK WITHIN MOTIF, OOOOOH, also, I think it's called the Look Within motif, not the beyond light motif. Because with strand the prompt to use it in the campaign is "Look Within" and strand is within us, unlike stasis, so, we unleash strand from within us, so it makes sense that the motif would be called the Look Within motif, and why it appears again in this expansion. That is my best guess, and probably the most likely answer why it was used again (And it's my favorite destiny motif so far)
I believe the Look Within motif, is similar to the inner light motif and stuff, it's OUR motif, discovering these new powers and using them against the darkness as a weapon. Since darkness is about controlling these powers, discovering them, learning to use them and wield them as weapons, just as we do with the light. Inner Light is about us, with the Light, and Look Within might be about us with the Darkness
@@deltabecnoir That's a decent interpretation of it. My fireteam's been joking about "Look Within" ever since we first interacted with Strand, both humming the song incessantly and joking about it foreshadowing another Taniks fight lol But yeah I don't think the wording of Look Within is a coincidence.
The stark contest between Nez and Rhulk is CRAZY. See, rhulk was a gym regular (note the legz), so he knew a bit about discipline, control, and controlled planetary obliteration. Nezarec was the opposite (note the dad bod); fueled not by efficient protein supplements, but insatiable hatred. Gym>>>
1:20 will go down as the most badass intense and clandestine example of what a guardian feels like in the midst of all the horrors we face, when a nova bomb explodes or a titian missile hits home, even casting your golden gun they all feel like this every single time since i heard this godly damage phase track!!!!!!
Up there with Riven phase two for me. I know people love Rhulk theme but I don’t think it’s quite as good. Problem is nobody has really experienced Riven 2. They really do deliver on the soundtracks, especially the raids.
[Laughs maniacally] Oh, a shame we can't entertain our one sided conversation further! Ah... but this feels too good! GUARDIANS! LET ME DEVOUR YOUR FEAR!
Nezarec was the opposite of Rhulk so much so you'd think Nezarec would've been just another galactic lunatic in our way not a disciple I wonder if the witness recruits these disciples for there personality or just to reck havoc on his enemies Rhulk was Cold Callus was Greedy Nezarec was Boisterous
My guess is that every disciple represents a "Deadly sin" going by what we know of them so far: Pride: Eramis (technically not a disciple but still fits) Wrath: Rhulk Greed: Calus Envy: Nezarec Gluttony: Xivu Arath (again, not technically a disciple but she may as well be at this point) Sloth: Sol Devise as a whole (we don't really know what the head mind of them is but the whole faction doesn't do anything unless the Witness directly tells them to, usually they sit around and pray all day) Lust: We simply don't have one to fit this category yet, but we do have 3 seasons + a new expansion before we need to worry about this. I already know R/Wish 34 is going to like this one if my hypothesis is correct.
@@Azrael_Equinox I would change some of these around, I would put rulk as pride since while powerful enough to kill us instantly he doesn't even try to truly kill us until final stand, and even applauds us drawing blood. I would put nez in gluttony, since he wants to feast on pain and terror until the death of the universe, and place xivu in wrath since she's the god of war and enjoys slaughter. Eramis could fit envy since she's jealous of our light and sought stasis to try and steal it from us.
Master Difficulty of Nezzy is the most scary shit I have ever experienced in a raid like having him breathing down your neck at all times with a chaotic track like this is some scary shit
I remember my team was so focused on dealing damage on day one but all I heard was the music. Mid damage I'm like, "holy hell do you hear that music?!"
Rhulk: You can join our side, and i shall spare you if you do. Otherwise, i am afraid you end here and now. Nezarec: MY BLOOD IS A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE IN 39 STATES. IF YOU DONT KILL ME HERE AND NOW I'LL FUCK THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE JUST BECAUSE I CAN AND ITS FUNNY AS FUCK
thank you!!! I knew that when this boss theme hit during my day one clear, I thought “man I hope Promethean makes a theme video cause I love to hear dps phase”
1:24 The Lightfall themes call-and-response-ing each other here is my favorite bit. And the rendition of "Look Within" directly after is just the cherry on top.
The only reason we were able to kill him as fast as we did was because he was made of both light and dark, causing him to be unstable and have weaknesses. If he was fully one or the other, we wouldn’t be able to do basically anything to him.
When I first heard this song and saw the name, after looking up what it means I find out that it is actually a genuine phobia of mine after reflecting on it. Strange how one can discover things sometimes.
I’m gonna get a bit music nerdy, but I’ve noticed between a lot of the raid boss themes there’s always or often a repeating 16th note pattern on the 2nd DPS phase and second half, maybe spurring a sense of urgency and driving the energy when some may feel winded
7:25. the moment we avenged all of humanity that died in the assault on earth during the collapse, led by Nezarec. A very significant moment for our characters, as because we were resurrected on earth, we died on earth, at the hands of Nezarec.
At this point I'm more convinced that the Witness did most of the damage. Nezarec was killed by the weakest Hive God, one who feared Rhulk enough to stay away even when she had power. What does that say for this so-called "Final God of Pain?"
There’s mr. six eyes, the golden space walrus, and then this cyclops. I wonder who will be the “Disciples” of the future antagonist in the next saga of the franchise.
Idk why they dont patch pantheon nez into normal, aside from glitches it's literally what they want base nez to be, attacking people as you DPS instead of getting on a well + platform and saying hasta la vista
@@medicfdumbo If Bungie actually did that, it would piss off the community pretty bad. It's one thing to patch something, an entirely different thing to change something about the encounter. Forcing people off plates is not a patch, but a mechanic change which changes how teams have to approach Nez. To do so now or even during Pantheon would be disastrous. If it were closer to when Root released, it wouldn't be so bad considering the raid was still new and being fine tuned. It was fine for Pantheon because Pantheon was a gimmick activity. To force it into the normal version, however, would force new strategies for high players, low players, speedrunners, sherpas, etc. Bungie doesn't want that heat. The damage had already been done. To go back and change something in a year old raid would be catastrophic by all accounts. Especially something that has to do with DPS.
So let me get this straight, as a person just coming back to see the lore. Nezarec was essentially *the* one who brought about the collapse of humanity in the golden age? At least until Savathun wasted him and hid the Veil? This guy should have had a FAR greater presence in Lightfall. Feels like he'd outmatch Rhulk if he was at full strength. The music even has this air of grandiosity and victory as if your achieving vengeance against the one who brought about the death of countless and the collapse of the Golden age.
I can’t go back, listening to the original soundtrack version anymore after this. The OST version feels weird because it sounds like it’s going all over the place. This feels consistent.

@@ali18y84 To be fair, Nezzy in the Raid is not technically in his proper body, he's in a body constituted off nightmare power, whatever energy the Tormentors come from, and excessive amounts of Light.
His OG Body was ripped apart and most of it was fed to Osiris as tea XD
So what we fight is a vessel formed out of happenstance that let him properly reinteract with the living world once again outside of people's nightmares (As he could very well be truly immortal as long as he has a vessel/host)
1:27 really gives you a sense of bravery and heroism and then jumps right back into darkness
If your unaware this is actually also dps which matches your statmenr even more
I love that rhulks song is calculated and Ramps up only when the light theme starts to match and then overpower it. While Nezyquik over here is frantic the whole time…
that moment at 4:39 where the Guardian theme kicks in makes me THRILL. I love a heroic reprise of a protagonist theme in the middle of a boss theme. So satisfying.
That’s “Beyond light” theme
@@Hyde_FollowerOfMercuryThis is actually the Guardian theme while Beyond Light is using the same thing on a much darker tone.
The Beyond Light track itself is just both the Light (at the start) and the Guardian (right before the end) themes on very dark and slower tones mixed in with the Darkness theme.
1:52 When the beyond light motif hits after hearing the main lightfall theme. It really goes to show how far our guardians have come when it comes to mastering not only the light, but the darkness as well. And here our enemy is using BOTH powers against us just as how we can also use BOTH powers against it.
Bungies music team knows their shit, like genuinely this does such a great job at making you feel like you just opened a chance of attack and it’s time to go ALL OUT. Fuck I love this game
Rhulk was amazing to see first time, But Nezarec felt like meeting a true alien abomination
The Vampire and the Frankenstein monster.
I love how the Nezarec we fight is not even close to full power and yet if you don’t use the plate glitch he is absolutely terrifying, like my dude is just a head on a makeshift body and is still able to body you if you aren’t on the plate
5:56 That choir Cabal Stomp ending with darkness riff is just chef's kiss. And female vocals make the whole track majestic.
I noticed that too. I was already teary-eyed on the 1st damage phase part and hearing the vocals doing the Cabal theme really got me
The way the dps are ends to me is perfect same with the transition to final stand from dps
Oneirophobia, fear of the dreams. And also, you hear the darkness theme alongside the cabals theme in this track. There are also a part that sound like Europa and some of the witch queen. This show that Nezarec is tied to a lot of things !
He’s been with us along along not in a physical form but in our nightmares and we got to face them in shadow keep. Kinda wish in shadowkeep we seen his body in his ship giving the fallen didn’t destroy it but we seen it l but couldn’t get closer or fully see it. Like a foreshadowing of what’s to come
I'd love a double bossfight of Rhulk and Nezarec, kinda like Ornstein and Smough (in spirit) from dark souls.
Only they're both fast and one bugs out on slightly raised surfaces...
And taniks is there with calus reading a fan fiction In the background
A double raid boss encounter would be awesome (Daughters don't count, they're easy)
@@Captain_Yata imagine oryx zivu and savathun all at once obviously toned down a bit to be like a normal raid boss attacking from 3 areas thatd be sick
So godskin duo lmao
Give Rhulk , Nezeracs speed. Give Rhulk harder knock back on his kicks. Now fight them both at the same time.
After Byfs lore video, this song has only gotten better. It represents the ressurected nez so well with brass and strings in conflict throughout (like how nez is a conflicted creation of both light and dark). All leading to them being in a form of harmony during dps as we wield both light and dark to defeat him. The vocal solo is a cherry ontop, I interpret it as the stakes in the song representing how the neomuni struggle with the nightmare and how we're fighting nez to save them.
and don't forget the subtle hints of cabal stomp, calling back to his origins as a psion
I interpret the vocal solo as the light
@@Magnusthepapa He wasn't a Psion. He was never a Psion.
Tbh in this fight nezarec isn’t just a disciple anymore he now has slight power of the light and he’s exited to try it out and this is also party why he was defeated tried to use a power he wasn’t meant to have or control. I still personally wish it had some nightmares in it after all it is called “the root of nightmares” I was expecting to maybe see a few in here
On par with the first disciple for me, the 1:20 on final stand just made my soul leave my body for a sec
Not final stand but dps
Its better, rhulk theme isn't that good
The closest part to final stand in this version is probably 7:00 onwards
I'd say I prefer Rhulk's overall, but that part blows it out of the water.
@@LowIntSpecimenimo the triumphant part of rhulks dps beats this any day but everyone has there own opinion
How its supposed to sound in game:
0:00-0:29 : Beginning
Percussion: Phase 1
1:25-1:55 : 1st DPS phase
0:00-1:24, 2:06-3:15 : Phase 2
(Back to 1st DPS phase): 2nd DPS phase
3:16-4:39, 5:21-6:44 : Phase 3
4:39-4:52, 4:54-5:19 : 3rd DPS phase
6:45-end: Final Stand
5:28 - 5:50 That is probably the most menacing version of The Darkness theme to date
Rhulk *
Isn’t that the Guardian theme?
@@RaspyCh yes
@@RaspyCh right after the Guardian theme, the darkness theme can be heard
Have you heard Rhulk's with imminent rage?
1:25 - 1:52 best DPS music I've ever heard.
6:45 - Last Stand. So much EPIC!
Violin literally blows your mind
7:25 has to be one of the best endings to a raid boss' theme. Really does seem like you just did the impossible and have done an amazing act of good in such a dire time.
1:02 to 1:53 and 4:42 to 5:20 are the most amazing pieces of musical art i've heard in my life
It’s really a shame that the first phase dps music 1:25 isn’t included in the base track found on Spotify. Definitely one of my favorite tracks now
To be fair, Rhulk has better lore and clout as a raid boss because he was the DISCIPLE PRIME underneath the witness; and he was essentially crippled when we fought him in his pyramid from when Savathun imprisoned him in there. Nezarec doesn't hold a candle to Rhulk as a boss only because no other disciple can match him, PERIOD. That being said, nez still cool tho
nothing could ever top rhulk in terms of strength besides the witness itself. I don't think he's a very fair comparison
Nez was nerfed too, he said, if I had my power I could have reached you myself
@@Ram-hc4hr No nez wasn’t nerfed, he said that before we charged him up, that’s what we do in the raid
@@drosdraven9 We face him in his very newly formed body. I doubt that he's gotten used to it immediately
I mean Rhulk also has the benefit of being a way better designed boss / encounter than Nezarec which helps
Waiting for 1 million views on this as on the Rhulk's one. Great job
Nezarec “let me test my new form and powers which i do not know anything of on literal godslaters” final god of pain
1:04-2:07 is my favorite, it’s just 😙👌
Nothing in gaming beats the feeling of the swell of our own theme sung by an angelic choir as we slam DPS with our squad into a so-called God (4:52).
The ending gives off that "WE HAVE TO FINISH HIM HERE AND NOW!!!!!" Vibe.
So we got Rhulk, disciple of the Witness
And Bhulk, disciple of the Fitness
Bhulk, Disciple of the Fitness and Nezapec, Final God of Gain
Everyone's clowning on Nezarec's design, but tbf, he looks like a majority of Destiny players anyway.
Nezaripped, Final God of Gains
My fireteam's been joking about "Look Within" ever since we first interacted with Strand, both humming the song incessantly and joking about it foreshadowing another Taniks fight lol
But yeah I don't think the wording of Look Within is a coincidence.
Gym>>>
I think 1:25 - 1:55 might be the best DPS theme we've gotten yet
One lore fact: Nezarec was the one who committed the first collapse. So by killing it, you have avenged humanity... and the golden age.
1:20 will go down as the most badass intense and clandestine example of what a guardian feels like in the midst of all the horrors we face, when a nova bomb explodes or a titian missile hits home, even casting your golden gun they all feel like this every single time since i heard this godly damage phase track!!!!!!
1:25 - 1:50 is literally the best piece of music to be ever written
Shit had me floating
Honestly the best piece created by Bungie
Up there with Riven phase two for me. I know people love Rhulk theme but I don’t think it’s quite as good. Problem is nobody has really experienced Riven 2. They really do deliver on the soundtracks, especially the raids.
The vocals are just… *chefs kiss*
[Laughs maniacally] Oh, a shame we can't entertain our one sided conversation further! Ah... but this feels too good!
GUARDIANS! LET ME DEVOUR YOUR FEAR!
Nezarec was the opposite of Rhulk so much so you'd think Nezarec would've been just another galactic lunatic in our way not a disciple
I wonder if the witness recruits these disciples for there personality or just to reck havoc on his enemies
Rhulk was Cold
Callus was Greedy
Nezarec was Boisterous
My guess is that every disciple represents a "Deadly sin" going by what we know of them so far:
Pride: Eramis (technically not a disciple but still fits)
Wrath: Rhulk
Greed: Calus
Envy: Nezarec
Gluttony: Xivu Arath (again, not technically a disciple but she may as well be at this point)
Sloth: Sol Devise as a whole (we don't really know what the head mind of them is but the whole faction doesn't do anything unless the Witness directly tells them to, usually they sit around and pray all day)
Lust: We simply don't have one to fit this category yet, but we do have 3 seasons + a new expansion before we need to worry about this.
@@fala5764 Rhulk would be wrath. The Witness itself says so.
Ah yes Nezarec the Final God of Maniacal Laughter
This is the hardest song in Destiny history, I cannot stop listening to it.
Riven of a thousand voices
@@ciguret this is def better
This is the best raid boss theme next to the first desiple, riven, and spire of stars. I can't wait for the final shape raid boss theme.
Here’s to hoping pantheon nezarec lives up to his name as the final god of pain
He certainly did
I love that you can hear the darkness/beyond light track at 1:53
thank you!!!
I knew that when this boss theme hit during my day one clear, I thought “man I hope Promethean makes a theme video cause I love to hear dps phase”
1:04 is my favorite part. The Guardian leitmotif dueling with the Witness/darkness leitmotif in the same measure gives me such chills.
This music makes you seem heroic when throwing random things at nezarec during dps.
One of the best boss themes. Shame we don’t hear half of it.
Although theres a lot of good dps themes for raid bosses, this one takes the cake by FAR. Literally makes me feel like i'm ascending to another realm
Hard decision between this and Crota tbh
3:59 this is my favorite interpretation of the witness’ theme 🫦
Return of the king
4:52 the best part
This is the part I was looking for. Thank you 💪🏻
"Ohhh what a shame we can't entertain our one sided conversations any further, but this feels too good, Guardian let me devour your fear!"
Seeing just how much this guy moves around reminded me of some of Borderlands 3's bosses. Especially ones like The Rampager.
6:45 to the end is insanely good
“In your calmest moments… in your deepest slumber… You will remember me.”
Now I want a Rhulk helmet, like Nezarec's, for the warlock, based on solar kills.
The new Raid helmet for Warlock looks like Rhulk's head with the right shaders.
Just wanted to say thank you for providing this version, just did a full on metal cover of it 🤟
1:24 The Lightfall themes call-and-response-ing each other here is my favorite bit. And the rendition of "Look Within" directly after is just the cherry on top.
The only reason we were able to kill him as fast as we did was because he was made of both light and dark, causing him to be unstable and have weaknesses. If he was fully one or the other, we wouldn’t be able to do basically anything to him.
Or the battle would be like Rhulk's, where we struggle.
When I first heard this song and saw the name, after looking up what it means I find out that it is actually a genuine phobia of mine after reflecting on it. Strange how one can discover things sometimes.
Imagine trying to kill a video game boss only to realize that he is a genuine manifestation of your own fears and demons.
I’m gonna get a bit music nerdy, but I’ve noticed between a lot of the raid boss themes there’s always or often a repeating 16th note pattern on the 2nd DPS phase and second half, maybe spurring a sense of urgency and driving the energy when some may feel winded
1:25 sends shivers down my spine
Truly a crazy boss for root of nightmares. Ran the raid for the first time with a full team just yesterday. Nezerac you madman
7:25. the moment we avenged all of humanity that died in the assault on earth during the collapse, led by Nezarec.
@ArchivalMind tbf he did get absolutely backstabbed by savathun and the "weakest" hive God is still incredibly powerful
There’s mr. six eyes, the golden space walrus, and then this cyclops. I wonder who will be the “Disciples” of the future antagonist in the next saga of the franchise.
okay the full action goes so much harder holy shit
Goddamn you work fast. I love you for making this and I miss all your other lost OSTs
1:25 gives me the feeling when you pick up the Crotas sword
YOU'RE BACK?!? THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER
What a call boss his dreams design and health bar did him dirty. Pantheon brought him back tho. Pantheon Nez should’ve been day 1 nez change my mind.
Yeah. Lightfall was a dud. Root of nightmares is horrid. Looks great, but its unbelievably easy, and nezarec was handled poorly storywise
"Guardians! Let me DEVOUR your FEAR!"
Yeah there was only one somewhat small bit of Lore revealed compared to Rhulk. Who pretty much created the Hive
Glad to see you're back.
This music just gives me nightmares to the pantheon experience now
Wow. I'm hearing themes from a bit of everything. I hear a bit of Cabal in there too!
I can’t go back, listening to the original soundtrack version anymore after this. The OST version feels weird because it sounds like it’s going all over the place. This feels consistent.
