    What do I think of this video? I think Bobby Fischer was right, software and chess engines are ruining the game. Too much memorization of lines is destroying the beauty and entertainment of chess.

    in this game there are so many things I can't follow which is normally not the case, mato maybe in the future if the time allows, could you explain a little deeper why "black/white is winning" when it is totally not obvious? amazing job anyway!

      @Sandokiri 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Fa1rplayy At GM-level play, it's generally the case that going up a piece will lead to a win, unless the side losing the piece has a very good compensation in the position.
      At 1:04, for example, after 6 ...Qd4, the knight is en prise due to the mate threat on f2: 7. Be3 Qxe5 8. Bxc5 Qxc5. (8.d4 Bb4+ 9. c3 or N moves, Qxe4, and white is very well advised to castle immediately to prevent Qxg2.
      At 5:09, Ne4! pins the knight and considers f6 or Nf6. Black doesn't have Nf4 because of Qc4+ Nd5 Qxc6 and black's rook is running out of real estate, so white will win the knight.
      Consider also how quickly Anand resigned in ?v=Vrt9U1EzPOQ due to going a piece down so quickly.

      +Sandokiri ok first one is clear, but e.g the pawn suggestions for black afterwards...:)

    Nakamura missed quite a few chances to sacrifice a piece - always winning in Mato's video's ;-)

    Mato, if I may make a suggestion, given that the challenger for the WCC was just decided, how about some representative games of his?

  • @liborkundrat185
    @liborkundrat185 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    5:07 Why is Ne4 winning? (I know I probably miss something very simple and obvious here but I want to know anyway ; I only found Bg5 here, btw)

    • @elegomeskin
      @elegomeskin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Libor Kundrát Blacks' N is pinned. On whites' next move, R x N , attacking the Q. That's why white is better and winning...

  • @dylanlopez5

    If black pieces continued like this why did he resign, rook takes knight on e4 , then if queen takes rook, black queen takes pawn on f2 check and after King takes pawn on a3 rook check on a8 then after King to b4

    • @chris21bucket
      @chris21bucket 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dylanlopez5 because white doesn't have to recapture with queen. RxR is much better as if Qxh2, Re8+ either wins the black rook, forcing a winning endgame for white or leads to checkmate

    computers are to chess what anabolic steroids and growth hormones are to professional sports and bodybuilding. Both make you better prepared for an event, and also dilute out the impact of talent and determination and preparation. Both leave a bad taste in my mouth. I can't hardly play computer chess with folks anymore because they are using chess engines. it's cheating
