Forgot to mention about legs - the heavier your legs, the harder it becomes for more advanced calisthenics like full planche, front lever, Maltese, human flag etc 😅🤦🏻

Calisthenics has changed my life. I went through severe depression and got hooked on p*rn addiction and gained 30 pounds. Now I’m free from p*rn addiction. In the best shape of my life at 161 pounds and able to perform a one arm pull up, front lever, human flag, straddle planche, muscle ups, archer pull ups, etc.

The thing I hate at chalistenic is verry long plateaus due to weight imbalances, for example if I gain 1kg,I would perform badly at planche for months, until I get more strength to make up for the extra weight(while the progress still exists,it is annoying that you see your current strength declining, instead of growing)

    • @nickjunior9862

    • @jasonthios8334

I can't do full planche🗿, i've tried and i was fully ground work at the time (by ground work i meant like push up, plank, etc) but now my core is to weak to do even a move of the planche (not full planche) but i now am more worked at moves that used bars like pull up, Chin up, human flag and i am thinking that i am more close to do the front lever than i ever to do full planche.

I was working out consistently at a solid weight of 162lbs and sub 10% body fat about 3 years ago. But after a separation from my wife, and the depression which soon followed, as a single dad of 3 small children, life got overwhelming and I lost my passion for working out and sacrificed all of my hard work. I went from 160lbs to 196lbs of trash diet and no exercise. I recently started working out again and am currently down to 182lbs. Your videos have always been amazing to watch. The discipline you show is extremely inspiring. I have never tried calisthenics, but watching your videos has always stirred a curiosity and interest. After I cut all this weight and get back to my prime, I'm going to begin training towards some of the amazing exercises you are able to perform using your videos. THANK YOU for your commitment to the cause and being such a positive influence in a world of negativity! You truly are an inspiration! And an absolute BEAST! Keep crushing it!

Regarding the gradual small increment, don't; ignore it! Your muscles might be able to do it but your tendons/joints might not be strong enough to handle it yet. I went from not doing pullups and chinups with weight for 5+ years immediately to 45 pounds for 8 reps, maxxing out at 90 pounds for 3 and coming down from one of my reps I felt a pop in my shoulder. Now I'm barely doing 10 pullups while being touch and go until I recover.

Alex and Sven, the two guys at calisthenicmovement, were the first people who introduced me to calisthenics. Since then I started working towards my basics. Currently at 2 chin ups and 2 pushups, but still a long way to go.

Number 5 is beyond true. Seeing the new wave of calesthetics athletes doing the hardest and most insane moves in a few months compared to me still trying to get planche push ups is the most insane jump in these type of work outs

My joints are always injured since I started adding weight into my dips, pull ups, push ups and planks ... I don't know why but I am sure I do all of them in a good form

What I hate most about calisthenics is all the gym freaks in instagram comments spamming "don't skip leg day" comments. As if everyone wants or needs big horse legs, it's ridiculous. You see a gymnast do an insane rings routine and all they have to say is "chicken legs" it's insane

As you said, Hannibal was the first men to bring calisthenics in the world. But after that, one men inspired nearly all the athletes who are doing this sport today, it was you ! And honestly, thank you for that !!

Yeah was doing calisthenics for a couple of years and just started to add dumbbells to my routine and I'm loving. It's definitely taking my legs to a new level, especially the calves, which honestly are embarrassingly small xP

What's up Chris, I also hate the problem with my legs, that's why it would be great if you could create a workout with the resistance bands for the legs, that would be a very good thing for everyone in general, greetings beast!

The fact that you can't use progressive overload with calisthenics is something I learned to love because you actually have to think to get stronger ! using differents variations, bands, a weighted vest, that is what makes calisthenics fun imo !
