  • Join Samia as she discusses how social media impacts us, from our mood to our mental health, and particularly in the university setting. From this, she will demonstrate how social media has us putting our (virtual) best face forward, inadvertently creating a multitude of one-sided conversations where students display their successes but hide their personal lows.
Samia Khan is a student at the University of British Columbia, in the Psychology program.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I'm so glad I went to school before social media.

Real communication is talking with people face to face not spend countless hours on virtual communication. I enjoyed the days raised in the 90s. We had proper communication..Today there is too much reliance on social media..

Unsocial media.:) they're useless apps. Real people real connection and real love. Not apps.

I just deleted the facebook app and messanger app from my phone and haven't been able to get back in . Cause my mom took the cloud away and I thought that I could get back in and regret deleting it . I guess it;'s a gift and a curse .
