the harder you cast, the more brakes you want to use. The brakes are there based on speed, so low braking combined with a hard fast cast will result in a sudden snap of your line catching the other line that went around the spool instead of going out the reel.
This is true for centrifical brakes. Not all baitcasters have those, though.
@@nathanbrady8529 also goes for magnetic brakes.
Thanks this really helped my bait caster kept on backlashing so I just tightened the brakes a little and now it’s perfect
Brake settings and tension are so overlooked. Great to start out like this with brakes and tensioning. And also the color coded combo looks sick.
Great tips. I’ve got my reel tuned to to point where i can throw any lure any size with ease and not backlash
You have to chance it with the lures Lmaoo
@@843Landbased not really. I can throw from a weightless senko , to a hard plastic lure with ease
Just takes lots of practice lol
Lol so you just put your brakes on all the way like a kindergartner? You’re losing out on being able to cast far
@@thepockerbirringsshow5083 lol what? My breaks are off completely. I can throw a senko super far. Reel it in, tie on a chatter bait that weighs 3/4 oz and toss it just as easily without bird nesting . Idk what made you jump to that conclusion lol
@@richardmatthews7058 some people aren’t as talented so they write it off as impossible.
Why do some people who run baitcasters cast with their right hand and then switch the rod to their left hand to reel with the right, why not just get a reel with the crank on the left
Ikr
This helps out A LOT. I just got a bait caster today and on my first cast, i got backlash. Thank u
Great tip. I just got my first bait caster and will be practicing with your few simple steps. 🎉 🎣 💪
Out of all the videos I finally got it with this simple quick video
I don't want breaks, I only want problems
You will get a lot of problems if you cast without the breaks ig
Nah I keep mine on 3
Use minimum breaks and tension, then cast overhand as hard as you can. Will give you LOTS of problems.
I’ll give it a try again one day
What’s the button to turn on and off the bail
Why are you talking like that
I guess that’s just how I speak…
I haven’t used my bait caster in over a year tried it last night with these exact setting but when I cast in the middle of it going out to the water it completely stops as if it were to birds nest but it not, it just stops
Once you get a bait caster you don’t want to go back to a spinning rod 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😂😂
Well one thing about using a baitcaster that makes me use a spinning rod and reel is because it’s very difficult to cast light weight lures very far without backlash but with spinning gear it’s a breeze
@@Jon_Ray I cast light lures pretty far by using a bigger fishing line
I use stren magnathin 12lb, the thinner line (~8lb diameter) allows to throw lighter and smaller baits without issue.
I never learned how to throw a spinning reel, everytime I tried i had issues 😂😂
Perfect explanation
I try to throw it it just gets Tangled
Took me 10 minutes to fix a birds nest which included ripping out half the line. 3 cast after i fixed it, it nested again. I'm sticking to spinning rod.
I got where I keep my tention loose and my brakes on 3 and I can skip pitch and throw any lure inwant
Hey can you pls show me that reel that is I will really appreciate it by the way I really enjoy your contact and I dropped like and a sub 🎉
be sure to lightly press on the line so you don't bird nest
this is pretty much how I started too 🤷
Meh ill stick to a spinningcast because ill hook myself if i try casting a baitcaster. Ill only use baitcasters for the ocean
Just bought my first bait caster and no matter the weight of lure I put on it won’t drop no matter how loose I put my tension
Do you cast right and retrieve right? Or was that just for demonstration? I’m asking because I prefer cast right and retrieving right as well. It’s the great debate lol. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
I do the same
No guys do not put it at five put it at five. If you have braided eight is perfect if you don’t have braided
Don’t over spoil your rod trust me!!!
How do you know I usually spool mine almost till its full but I just started a baitcaster I still am getting used to it
I just turn my tension and brakes all the way down for maximum casting distance but I also use my thumb as brakes too
I have a question? Do u have to do that every single time u cast?
Does that handle cost more then your reel😂
This touch handle costs $59, and red one have 10%OFF during Valentine's day, don't wait!
What rod is that?
Imagine casting with one hand then switching hands to reel.
I learned not to bird nest it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I sha'nt take advice from someone who overspools so much.
My brakes are set to my weight of the lure an spool as well
Terrible. You cast with left hand not right.
Why did the “Flick” in the subtitles look like “F*ck”
Amazing tips, but why not get a left baitcaster so you don't have to switch hand...😂
Some people such as myself cast better with their off hand rather than their dominant so it’s not uncommon to see people cast then switch
@@SCG_MOSES10 Same here, I cast and reel with my right hand. *shrugs*
@@NineteenEighty8same.
Unfortunately most baitcaster combos come as a right side reel, as someone who is new to the hobby and doesn’t want to spend tons and tons on gear right now it’s hard to find good left hand reels
@@noahpalmer8178 then dont buy combos, combos are for casuals. build your own reel and rod setups. its very easy to find left hand reels, just go and buy them lol. I have tons of left handed reels. Theres thousands of stores and even walmart has them.
great tips for beginners!
What’s the diff between brakes and spool tension
Spool tension is for when you get better at casting, loosen it up and let er' rip!!
I lost my tension knob because I always had it so loose
Is that real custom? I have a lews that’s very similar.
Thanks because when I go fishing with my dad I have troubles with thoughs
Where did u get that handle
What reel is that
Any help? I’ve always used spinner reels. Sometimes I cast lightweight lures like tiny top water baits for bluegill. Am I still able to cast those with a bait caster or what should I do? What lb braid should I use too? Or is a spinner reel my best bet
hello datvan i wanna ask sime question about baitcasters because i just got mine today,
the magetic brake it untul 12 should i put it to number 8 or 6 for my heavy lures and light lures
Thank so much
Can I have some of ur line please❤️
Casting a bass bait caster a few simple steps step number one you max out your brakes step number two you loosen or tighten the tension knob so you can slide down slowly step number three you back off the brakes to the desired brake system to zero to minimize it
I have a Abu Garcia. I am new. To bait casters and it just won’t but the lure out there anyone know why?
what is the advantage of this over a spinning reel? spinning is so much simpler and you can still cast a long ways
Can't understand mumble
Another tip is don’t use monoline for bait casters. They just tend to nest more even adjusted right
i turn the brakes off and damn near free spool and control flight with my thumb on the spool. the learning curve sucks but i can cast a weightless fluke a looooooonnnnng way
what do i do when ever its still in the air and it gets a littile birds nest
You really have the spool over spooled but good video thanks man
Wtf cast so far
Question for anyone who wants to answer I have a normal reel but I’ve been seeing so many people use these what do people recommend is better I mostly use my pole for bass
baitcaster you have to make a lot of adjustment and lot of practices , i prefered spinning reel because it can do almost every thing the baitcaster does but alt more simple and cheaper
Power handle with red grips is money 👌🏻
I got this same reel and it throws like shit
Where did you get your grips for your reel

Thanks
Bro sounds like a voice from tik tok
Spoon feeder
I think I may stick to my spinning reel.
Yeah im used to a spinning real its mostly the easiest to cast in my opinion
Baitcasters are fun as hell , I have about 20 combos or so. Started cheap with 100$ rods and now I have a frigging expensive arsenal. 😅
How to put two much line on ur reel lol 🤣 jk bro good stuff
Swing like a baseball bat or sword has always been my examples to people that can't cast far, accuracy is key work on that first then worry about distance later few extra tips for anyone that needs them
This helped so much
Now what if you need to catch pinfish with a light weight lures
Use a spin rod
Or u can put it at 6
What’s that rod
This helped me so much I hope I will catch a lot of fish 😊
How’s that TFO rod?
Learn left handed to start it will make your casting easier
Thanks for the tips!
Cheap o Baitcaster
All you gotta do is loosen the drag till it barely drops Skip the first step. If you really wanna throw a BC tho just loosen that drag all the way up
“A bit of a $&@? Of the wrist.” Seriously?
Do you have to hold the spool with your thumb when you cast❓
It just helps to prevent birdsnest, yes you'll not cast as far for a bit but better to do until yoyre more comfortable
Way more than that bud
