If I still had my E36 M3 I would have loved to take you around the track and show you how well I can heel-toe. However, I have switched it up a bit and got into motorcycles. After having done a couple track days this past season, I will be getting my race license next year. Thanks for playing.
our God is good gave us american muscles!!!!!
+Mustang King i have a small Indian penis
hahahahah Dee Dee
Supercharged and turbocharged applications are a different story. The lower octane limits the boost you can run as well as how much timing you can run before the engine begins to detonate. Running 91 octane limits the tuner to a less aggressive tune, and consequently less power.
Congratulations on a fantastic build and sharing this video. Q: How is this beast doing on 1/4 mile? In low 10's maybe?
If I could have one thing in life, this would be it...
Consistency consistency consistency, auto is the way to go
This is very true! Although most of those cars have a different form of a manual, shifting a fast car with an H-gate gearbox is very difficult, so most racers would opt for a sequential gearbox.
i would say they both have advantages... for me i would take a manual because i love having some fun driving in the streets, but if i wanted to go and post consistent fast numbers i would go with the auto
Exellent sound. Auto is cool too.
This is the most American thing I've seen lately. Damn right.
The numbers were not from a first gear pull. On the eddy current dynos, you can do a simulated 1/4 mile pass.
never in any of our lives will we ever hear a Honda sound this good !!!!!
Honda s will never ever sound as good as a camaro.......just NOT THE SAME.
true stuff. the fastest Toyota Supras at the strip are always automatics as well. On the street Id say go with a manual but if you have a huge amount of HP and not enough road on the streets I would say use an auto st the strip. it all depends on what you are building and the power it has
theres nothing wrong with having an auto.. its an amazing car and i hope the person who bought it is having a lot of fun in it!
Super crisp sound....very nice !!!!
straight fire coming out of the exhaust hell ya
Sounds crazy. E85 tune? I would get pulled over do fast in Cali with that nasty cam. Sick car. And an auto option is ALWAYS nice.
I bet the new construction you peeled out in loves you.
sounds like a badass cam
Or it breaks loose because you "shock" it between shifts...my opinion is once you hit mid 7's in the eighth mile the auto is the better transmission--unless you are drag only and put straight cut pro-shifted stuff in your car. Looking to go to auto in my 5 speed Tremec 91' 5.0 this year.
I agree but the last part not so much GF has an 2010 Camaro SS an well neither of us like it if we go anywhere over a long distance we take my 09 sti it's more comfortable an feels alot better on the road. She was hoping the new updated camaro would solve alot of our complaints with the car but it's going to be more of the same for another 5 years so she might trade it in on a 5.0 or SRT8. The 02 Camaro Z/28's where awesome cars but they really managed to mess things up with the new ones.
lol @ all of you laughing at the automatic. Look up the tests results. The automatic for the zl1 has slightly better numbers than the manual. I personally prefer a manual tranny but its sad to see autos starting to defeat manual
This is a beast of a car and for being an automatic nice. My camaro looks exactly like this one but mine is the 2SS and its Stick Shift. It's more fun to drive a stick shift car no doubt about it.
I want that engine cover on mine
Nice car. Looks like a lot of fun.
Automatic cars have less user error involved. Manual is fun but, when you're racing super fast cars, you need the shift to be as accurate as possible. There are tune ups and chips that allow you to choose when the car should shift. No more grinding gears. I prefer manual though.... all my cars are stick.
I would like to thank the guys at 510 for the impressive job they did on my car, you guys are the best! I would also like to thank all of you for the views and comments, even the bad ones. I agree, a MT is more fun but I'm looking for wins, plain and simple. "Mr Hatchback 500HP", please feel free to come to Midland in your POS car and I'll make sure to send you home with a "I just humped the neighbors cat" look on your face. For all you "nay sayers", my car, my money, my choice. 510 rocks!
I'm with em. It's not that a manual is faster, it isn't, it's just more fun to drive in my opinion. Especially in this day and age where everything has obnoxious "drivers aids" and you have to fight to find something that still gives the rush of real old school muscle.
Gimme a 5 or 6 speed manual RWD any day.
manual is good for control track, but auto just gives out faster shift times, which turns into faster acceleration/better times. this car may be for pure straight line racing, which in that case, auto is the way to go. but i do somewhat agree that manual is nice and i do prefer it, but theres just no getting around the speed of autos.
I think that auto transmissions are really starting to come out fast which before anything with speed was a manual but sadly stick shifts are losing the intrest of people either they get a auto or auto/manual mix which isn't really fun at all
NAsty!!!
ZL1 power..
So u don’t like it?
And if you tuned lawn mower with c-116, you could make more power than regular 91 :)
I WANT ONE! For all you arguing about how a manual is better than an auto. The ZL1 with an auto is faster than the manual. Not only that, but this car is designed to be a daily driver. After sitting in heavy rush hour traffic you'd be happy to have an automatic...especially a fast car with a heavy clutch! Not saying the ZL1 manual has a heavy clutch, just saying crawling through rush hour traffic sucks with a manual!
Love that cf engine cover, very nice.
It's automatic because the 4-8 milisecond shift time is alot better than the 20-25 with stick.
I prefer a manual anyday when it comes to a street/strip car its not hard to shift a 10 sec car if you know what you are doing i could shift my old 57 chevy all day long down the track and not miss a gear and running a constant high 10. Now running a full blown drag car is a different story, powerglide is the way to go.
that my friends was the infamous PAT G tuning that vehicle!!!
No No it wont just bet it, it would crush it!
not a 10second car though. for example a stock zo6 with slicks or a zr1 are all low 10 second cars. there all regular 6 speeds
Thanks Guru. Much appreciated
american muscle car never die
Low 10 second cars? I don't think so. The Zo6 with lt headers intake and exaust 10.7-10.9 with dr's.
Stock Zr1 with slicks 10.8-10.9 with dr's
The engine looks BAD azz
i like manuals but these cars have so much performance that 90% of their owners will never be able to push them all the way to the limit. Automatics are not the devil incarnated they're here to help people enjoy the car they just spent 80k dollars on.
What a beast! I would love to take that bad boy for a spin!
Oh that beast sounded so nasty! Love it!!!!
That was a hard pull on the dyno ! Didn't want to roll into huh ?
Awesome black beast
First of all, I was talking about sports cars.
Secondly, right hand drive cars.
Thank god I dont own a lawn mower and 2nd I work at a chevy dealership and I know the difference between the auto and the manual. You should go and get a test drive on a manual. Im sure you'll like it.
It's fun shifting gears
Bad ass car!
I have a question though. I see you're running 16PSI boost. My little 1.4L Turbo Chevy Sonic with a tune hits 22PSI. Could you run up the boost a little higher on the LSA or is high boost just for smaller engines and turbos?
I live in Spring so I need to come check you guys out. I used to go to your shop back when Chaotic Customs was there years ago.
Flames were cool
I wouldn't want it in a Manual when it's this cool.
@Turbospaceboy Lol, heck no! I laughed so hard at that comment that I fell out my seat. But whenever your feeling froggy, Kermit, JUMP :)
bad mo fo. Love it!
I actually raced against this car for all of 5 seconds until the cops pulled us over. This ZL1 is nothing to laugh at. 510 did a great job on this beast.
Sick sick sick.....sounds like war
You do know the ZL1 auto has paddle shifters, right?
Awesome car what kind of exhaust does it have (straight pipe?)
That cam. omg...I need to get me one of those.
millionairrre marine had one pretty
i luv mine. its so fun to drive at track
Black on Black Camaro ZL1 and Carpenters that will be me one day. ;) That LSA V8 sounded Bad FUCKING Ass!!!
Just curious why are your running 91 instead of 93?
I have a ZL1 manual lpe stage3 borla headers no cats made 667/602 on a mustang dyno with 91 octane im at allot higher elevation in Nebraska! Nice cart great numbers don't listen to the idiots get Wat u want f the rest nice video!
what kind of quad copter did you use for the video?
love the rc chopper awesome guys
mybad ya upper 10s. but thats still fast for being stock
couldn't agree with you more, its all about what you like and what you got , most of the shit talkers wish they had a SS.
Bad ass car I love mine.
What year ? and is this the default exterior of the ZL1?
If you have this car you want to forget the word "Money saving"
SICK!!!!!!!!!
so what all was changed for the extra 200 hp? just increased boost? i think my brothers 2014 zl1 only gets about 7-8lbs on his zl1, stock obv
Eric M Nooo way more than that. Full exhaust, cams, intake and retuned to be making those numbers.
List the mods!!! Sounds great though!!
Suppose you made your high speed pass in front of the school?
better the the automatic right or wrong ?
thank you, someone finally tunes an automatic. were getting it now, quicker shifts = better times!
no it sounds like a real muscle car
damn that thing is sweet
what kind of exhaust? i have corsa on mine
In some places 91 is the highest pump gas you can get.
best choice he could have made!!
The auto doesn't have the same experience as a manual, and around a track (not in a straight line, any average joe can drive in a straight line), the manual will be faster and offer better benefits (such as selecting the proper gear for corner exit). Welcome to being an enthusiast of a different breed.
agreed.
Manuals are fun to drive besides with more autos coming out now people don't ask to drive my car anymore because its a manual.hahaha. I remember when you had to pay extra to get an automatic now it seems like you have to pay extra to get a manual.
I'm jumping 4 joy!
why the 91-octane tune?
what exhaust that camaro used?
What kind of exhaust is that?
hey, you left some of your tire back there
I prefer standard. I dont think you are understanding whats going on here. sometimes auto transmissions really do have faster shift times... this is not a stock Camaro and you do not sell any Camaros with near this power. If you tune your car right you can get better numbers out of an auto SOMETIMES!
ever heard of the powerglide transmission? yeah its a two speed auto
What size tires are on this bad boy
And holy shit, 701 on 91 octane? I wanna see this on racing fuel =3
That's fucking nuts.
what about people with bad left legs and cant do shifts? think
in your opinion. but cool story bro
have fun with your honda
smoke them if you got them . nice !!!!
They say the autos are just as quick or quicker than the manuals in theses cars i notice a lot of guys are running automatics in the ZL1's
they might be just as quick of quicker, but the manual is more fun in car especially like this
True I agree it's Chevy V8 muscle 100% gotta slap gears in this car it's a must
since when is shifting a 11 sec car hard?
