That awkward moment when you're the child of a British father and a Filipino mother 😂😭 Having spent my time between both the UK and the Philippines (I now currently reside in the UK), I can definitely confirm that there are soooo many white men who exploit Filipino women in this way. As someone who's Filipino but grew up abroad, I've seen plenty of Pinoys who went through dehumanizing relationships with their Western partners (even within my family). Especially women. Is it standard practice to date an Asian woman, to use them for one's benefit? Because it seems to run in the blood. It's disgusting. I used to work at a fast food restaurant and the number of men who told me that Filipino women are "exotic" and "great at housework" when I told them about my ethnicity - as if it would turn me on. Hell, no. People need to avoid these types at all costs. This is not fetishization, it's exploitation.

The thing about seeking out people from such a different culture is it’s harder to pick up on red flags. If you romanticize the culture it might make you a little blind… but mainly if you don’t recognize their nuanced body language or communication it’s harder to know if something is off.
So...... I dated a dude who happens to be older and white, and I'm Filipino who lived in the Philippines. We met through work, and our entire time dating was just people assuming I was a gold digger and he was a white pervert. Needless to say public perception was what broke us up in the end, I couldn't live being treated and viewed like shit by people because of who I was dating. It feels like a curse to date someone outside my race as a Filipina, I'm always the "gold digger" and nothing more.
People will always talk, if it's not the ethnicity then it's the looks, the gender, the clothes... That's why you find people you like to hang around with and don't give an f about what random strangers think.

Strangely enough there still are a few men like Richard! Years ago ( a few generations back- like before the 70's ) it was bred into us English women to get married. As someone who's Filipino but grew up abroad, I've seen plenty of Pinoys who went through dehumanizing relationships with their Western partners (even within my family). Especially women. Is it standard practice to date an Asian woman, to use them for one's benefit? Because it seems to run in the blood. It's disgusting.
