The implants and fillers helped too. Confused though why Kelly is pushing that weird old attitude of women hating women who they think looks better than them.
@@mrs.h2725 The best thing to do if you look younger than you age is to say nothing at all and allow people just to put you whatever age group they think you are - if you look older than your age well you just have to live with it.
Ikr, she for sure had cosmetic treatments (i do too), and without filters she does look older. But she still looks beautiful, which is contrary to how women are supposedly allowed to be when we are over 30. We’re supposed to be the golden girls once we hit 30. Unfortunately women are shamed when we age. I’m glad more older people look younger, so we don’t have to feel like we have to be old (in personality and looks, like we have to give up and stay home away from the judging public). 40 is around half of the average lifespan but we’re made to feel like 30 is when we expire and are old.
I'm 63. I have lost so many friends during my life. I feel like aging is a privilege that many people never get. I have earned every wrinkle and gray hair I have. It's a mind set
I'm 28, but I can't understand why people are so scared of aging. Why hate something natural instead of embracing it? They'd better think about gaining experience and wisdom to match their age.
@@akabeni_mjmaybe because there are so many things said about it, that just don't apply to everyone. One example... ppl always say aging starts at 25, right? In my early 20s I was living in a marriage that was very bad and traumatic to me and when I turned 25, I already had deep wrinkles between my eyebrows from choking so much sadness and anger. Instantly when I noticed how my life path had aged me so much too early, I started feeling bad and regretful about that aging. I just want to be kind to myself and get back at least a part of the joy and youth that I lost to my bad decisions. I already suffered enough and felt ugly enough, and though I chose the husband myself I don't think that I deserved the poor treatment and the fact that it shortened my life. I don't mind aging generally, but I wanna try to live healthy and happy enough to get a bit of the lifespan back that it would cost me to age on that rapidly.
You're only as old as you feel 😊 plus society is always geared towards young people so it's best not to get caught up since we all have to get old & die someday so delaying the inevitable is just kinda silly
For me, the problem is not looking older because that is something that's gonna happen no matter what. The bigger problem is ageism: the fact that society is telling a lot of people that they cannot pursue their dreams and explore other career fields because of their age. That's one of the worst types of discrimination in my opinion. Let's stop putting age restrictions!
I agree, i think achieving success later in life is much better anyways, you're more mature and experienced. Look at all these kid actors when they become famous at a young age, they have burn outs in their 30s. Take your time folks (not too much time though lol)
It’s objectively true that older people are worse and literally cannot complete certain jobs. If you are 70 years old you will NEVER be a professional athlete. If you are 70 you will never be hired as a soldier or policemen. There are only a few careers old people can be successful in. This isn’t “ageism” this is reality and biology. Not only are older people weaker, slower, and have more health problems, your brain begins to slow down and not fire as quickly, your memory also worsens. Age matters
@@YungPhilosopher wrong. Only a small percentage of professions CAN'T be done by older people. Athlete isn't even a real profession, it's not something anyone can do their entire life and it's one of the first things that could be eliminated from society because the only value in it is entertainment. As for the real jobs it's only the ones requiring physical strength that have real age limitations and there're not so many of them anymore. Soldier can be one but at the other hand most soldiers do contracts and then switch careers so the age discrimination in other professions hurts them later on.
honestly one reason why people used to "look older" back then because the fashion and styling looks old and dated to us now, which immediately subconsciously makes us realise they have to be older than us. it's true that kids want to age wayy too quickly these days but that doesn't mean that the trends of today aren't going to look dated in 10+ years and thus also aging. Idk this is just something I've thought about a lot lol
You just made me imagine a world in the futur where everybody's skin is young and glossy, they only wear natural looking make up (men and women) and everyone's face looks like a baby's. And it's like that for everyone, until they die. Or maybe like, they look 20 when they're actually 97.
Exactly! I even watched a video on it and that's one of the main reasons why it looks like that. The second thing is people would be like yeah they were "this age old here" but in reality that's not their true age. Like the guy in the thumbnail must be older, no way he's 21 for example. I look at my mom's pictures when younger and she literally looks her age except for the clothes and make up as you said.
I was telling one of my friends about how I was afraid of aging and she told me she couldn't wait. That wrinkles and grey hair would make her look cool and that it was proof of everything she'd lived and been through. I hope I can see things from that perspective as I get older lol
Well ask yourself a question. What do you think when you see old wrinkly people ? Do you think "Ew disgusting they look so ugly" ? Or do you think "Aw old people doing lil things so cute 🥺" ?
@@maelyssferreiro2539 nope of course not, but I don't think that they're hot and cool etc which is fine of course, but it's hard to accept that one day you're just not going to be desirable Social commentary time 😂 but as women we're always told to be desirable our whole lives and not show any signs of aging because it's suboptimal, I guess it's just all my personal insecurities showing through
@@kayleighmay2557 Well exactly ! When you will be old no one will look at you and think you are ugly, they'll think you are a cute old lady ! I am fairly young but I was really afraid of aging because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do things anymore. That's why I loooove seing old people outisde. Driving, walking, shopping, taking the bus .... I love seeing old people do stuff because it's proof that life doesn't stop just because you are old. I'll still be able to do a lot of things and it's comforting ! We will all be cute old poeple doing little things and thats great !
The obsession with looking young was always weird to me. My girlfriend is 9 years older than me (39) and is aging like a regular human. Crow’s feet when she smiles, smile lines, and her nose does a cute pinch thing when she laughs, etc. I think she’s absolutely gorgeous. I have the biggest crush on her, and yet she hates the way she looks. It breaks my heart that she can’t see herself the way I see her. Lines and wrinkles are absolutely beautiful.
@@GDL364 Because everyone knows that being old and looking old has no benefits. When her skin starts the sinking, when wrinkes start coming it, when she gains weight, and her hair greys, that's going to borther her
@@BitchChill maybe an American society but in other societies elders are held to a higher standard like mine they bring wisdom and experience and we respect them
If you're good to yourself then you won't age as much. Aging is literally just degradation and decay. If you treat your body awfully, you will age more. This is why you should care.
I'm 52 with long gray hair and I wear my wrinkles like a badge of honour. I don't live my life to conform to what other people think I should look like.
You have wrinkles at 52 damn I am dreading that! Now tell us what you were eating drinking and smoking in your 20s and 30s! Ignore this if you are talking about a little bit of crow feet and laugh lines here and there now they are not a wrinkles, just saying!
As a middle school teacher: I can confirm there are still kids who look their age and are not trying to look like models They are still as dorky as I remember being at that age! Privilege can also be a factor as my students can afford to buy the clothing that these influencers have as well as gym memberships, the makeup, or the healthy foods. They are worried about their appearance but I feel like these influencers are harming their self esteem, similar to how magazines hurt mine
I'm 31 and people say I look younger but I think it's actually because everyone expects women in their 30's to look like they are 50. I've also enjoyed not being catcalled as much the last few years vs when I was 20 and literally couldn't walk out the front door without someone bothering me even though i'm pretty average looking.
I noticed the same thing. I love not getting bothered as much in my 30s although I do still have people “coincidentally” getting in my way trying to steal that moment of opportunity lol
@@setme4ree it’s not cause you’re not “hot” anymore. Are y’all serious? 🤦🏾♀️ Who stops being “hot” at 29 and who the hell is “hot” at 12, when catcalling starts? 🤣🤣 It’s usually because it’s easier to target a young, naive, and confused girl than to try with an older woman who may react, cuss them out, or beat their a$$(NYC women 🤣). Being catcalled can have nothing to do with “hotness” and more to do with wanting to feel some type of power. Anyway, there’s been a major cultural shift in the past decade so men are less likely to catcall or approach women these days. Still happens but there’s no cut off age unless you’re clearly a grandma
i'm 16 but I don't fear aging . My father passed away when I was 12 , so I realise that aging is a privilege that not a lot of people have . It comes with so many good things . It's not like we can just stop aging so might as well embrace it .
You and the other 16 year olds in this thread are very wise! I'm sorry you have to deal with the trends and the influencers that just simply were not around when I was 16. I also lost my dad a few years ago, and I wish he was still around because getting older has been a gift. I am so glad there are people 10 years younger than me who aren't afraid to grow.
That 9 year old girl who was coerced into getting surgery because she was told her eyes were too narrow is so, so sad. She was already beautiful, and I hope that this surgery doesn’t negatively affect her life going forward.
I'm 32 and found my first grey hair was a couple years ago. Was born with a genetic disease and was given less than 24 years as my life expectancy. I love my grey hairs ❤️
Exactly. I feel like people forget that being able to grow old is a privilege. Up until ifew hundred years ago, the live expectancy was drastically different. And even compared to 50 years ago, people ate living longer than ever AND are able to do so and so be active and healthy. That's a freaking gift. Besides, I don't want to look 22. I was such a mess and so stupid when I was 22. I'm gratefully to be 30 and who I am today.
Yeah, my friend (14) has Gray hairs too and she likes it (rightfully so). Meanwhile my mom (55) says she hates hers, but honestly why should we even be ashamed of something that's completely human and that happens to nearly everyone, more people should just start embracing it because it's truly beautiful ♡
@@GacktsBigTiddies I've had grey hair since I was 10. It causes your hair to weaken and snap so tell your friend to start taking care of her hair now to prevent breakage
When I was registering my son for high school, they tried to process me as well. Looking younger than you are isn’t always a benefit. People take you less seriously if you look like a kid.
Wow. That's bad... I feel you. I look a lot younger than I am and have always been mistaken for much younger, even as a child. When I was in my early 20s I was constantly mistaken for 14 or 16 (even on the rare occasions that I was wearing heavy make-up) and had to show my ID everywhere. It's quite a bit irritating to show ones ID when one just hit their mid-20s and has been to that exact place a few times. I'm 29 now and still have security guards scrutinise me and overhear my conversations with my boyfriend, probably in the hopes of catching someone underage and throwing them out. I'm even getting mistaken for my own child's sister and he's 3 years old now! 😩
I'm 22 now and look 15. When I was 19, I was mistaken for 12. Working as a cashier at a crafts store, I was harassed daily about my age and height. People would straight up not let me check their items out until I told them how old I was and my height. They would constantly ask me if I was even old enough to work there. I fucking hate it.
Yeah that does suck. Don't have a kid but a much younger sister (10+ years apart) so when I'd go pick her up from high school sometimes the admins would assume I was also a student and yell at me walking the halls or wearing a hat. Man, if there is one thing that triggers the rage I suppressed in high school it's being wrongly yelled at by adults who I can now yell back at cause....I would pop TF off lol 😅
I agree. I’m relatively short and I look a lot younger and I’m a woman. I definitely see a difference in how I’m treated vs how my colleagues are being treated who are only a few years older but look much older than me.
My gosh I am SUPER GLAD, you brought this up, because at 23 and with my Grandma moving in because of her dementia, I realized I was starting to brush her off. It struck me that I was doing exactly what I fear would happen to me. We all age, we have to accept it, so why do we hate people for “looking old”? Probably because we fear it happening to us. We fear the Inability to be perceived as pretty, and that takes away our power. But if we just listen to the young generation then we are missing the understanding and wisdom of the elders who GAVE US everything. Just because you age, doesn’t mean your life is suddenly meaningless or that you can’t accomplish what others have. I love my Grandma, I am trying to be more patient and there for her so she doesn’t feel brushed under the rug. And maybe that’s selfishly because I myself don’t want that to happen to me…
I'm going to graduate university next year at the age of 31 with peers up to 10 years younger than me. And while finding my first one or two gray hairs already, I never felt better! It's all about self confidence and accepting that aging totally is normal. This video is super important, thank you for talking about this.💕✌
early congrats on your graduation!! 🥳 I was also a "mature age" student when I graduated yet I've never been the oldest person in any of my classes, ever. education is for all ages!
Congratulations on your graduation! 🎉🎉🎉 I’m glad that you feel good about your gray hairs. I had my first gray hairs when I was age 12, now I’m 24 and honestly I used to not like them. I would die my hair when I turned an appropriate age for hair coloring so that I could hide my grays but now I like them and I want to grow them out, it really is about confidence and self acceptance ❤
Hi I am going to enter the preparatory year before uni (I am an immigrant so I have to) next year at the age of 23 and then hopefully start with my degree. Do you have any tips? I am worried that most people are going to be between 4 and 6 years younger than me and I won't be able to have friends...
When I started a tik tok at 25, people were saying I looked 18. Wish they’d never told me that. Now at 28, when people say I look 24 I think to myself “that’s it? Not 18?”. It’s a vicious cycle
@@dammar117 the memory from 4 years ago of this young guy guessing my exact age of 38, after years of everyone being surprised when I told them my age, is still an occasional punch in the gut. I'm 56 years old. I lost my childhood at the age of 5. I saw, and experienced things very early in life. I haven't aged with wrinkles yet, but my hair is silver. I'm just glad I survived domestic violence. Not many live through that. I won't change my appearance for anyone, because I don't look like they want me to.
age really is just a number...... you can be a lot younger and have lived through enough shit for 5 lifetimes. versus someone in their 80s who seemed to have skipped though on easy mode. maturity doesn't seem to be totally tied to age either.
I've been mistaken for my son's girlfriend since he was 16. It's not fun and I don't like it. I appreciate looking young for my age, but I'd rather people know I'm his mom. I just had another baby at almost 40, I'm gonna guess I'll be mistaken for this one's grandma when he's 16.
My mom also had my sister at 40. Our dad is also much older, so don't worry. There's no shame in having a parent that is on the older side. I'm sure she's gonna boast about you to all her friends. 👍🏼 (Children can be weirdly understanding. I'd say that my dad isn't my grandpa when I was a kid and no one would bat an eyelid.)
I feel you. I'm 37, have an almost 16 year old and a 2.5 year old lol I still can't believe we were almost done with school just to be starting all over again once the older one graduates 🤦♀️
Yeah, i'm an adult but I feel awkward going out to eat w just my dad bc ppl might think we're a couple :( once my dad n I were out somewhere n some customers of his business saw us. The next day there were rumors at his workplace that he was seen out w his "girlfriend", even tho everyone knows he's married to my mom 😫😭💀
Also, when i was in 3rd grade, i had some classmates over.. one of the girls had an older dad. When he came to pick her up, i answered the door n ran back to yell that her grandpa was here. I didnt even remember this story but my parents told me abt it n said that her dad heard me n looked miffed.. oops.
@@mistyblue2917 same happened to me when I was a teen and we have a 30 year difference with my dad, men think first that he is f*ing a teen rather than think he's hanging out with his child. Hella disturbing.
I'm 23 and I've noticed that in different countries people get my age differently. When I was living in Italy usually people were thinking that I'm around 28 In the UK I had some 18 years old friends and the were always shocked by my age cuz they thought I was 18 as well In Russia a lot of people say that I look 16 I think sometimes people assume your age not only by your look but also by your behaviour
Its definitely behavior. I am a butch and I have a little sister. My sister has a natural round baby face but she wears makeup regularly and carries herself very womanly (does up her hair, wears heels, dresses mature) and everyone thinks shes older than me because I act more androgynous and I have short hair and wear casual baggy clothes with a narrow gaunt face that definitely looks older than my sister's(I think because boyish features are associated with youth)
I'm 27 and just a few weeks ago someone asked me my age and was shook cause they thought I was 18... I get told I look younger all the time but 18 is kind of a stretch lmao The thing about being a woman (not saying guys don't go through this but I feel like it's more evident with women) is that you never know if people actually think you look younger or if they're trying to give you a "compliment" I try as hard as I can to not give in to the whole "stay young or you're worthless" mentality but sometimes I do catch myself thinking about certain face lines that are showing up and stuff like that. I can only imagine how much that affects kids and teens nowadays. I wish they had gotten a chance to be kids for real.
As a PE and Dance teacher - kids seem to be obssessed with being young but not preserving youth. The lifestyle and behaviour will almost age them quicker than it should. They tell me they will get botox, facelifts and science will advance to make them look young. So that is really your answer.
I get told I look 16 and I'm 24, it's weird especially when I go on dates. The guy will pick me up and be like you're 18 right? and I'm like dude, I'm 24 I already told you 🙄
@@jellybean7283 I've actually been seeing the opposite happen a lot on tik tok mostly...where the guy hits on the girl (she looks like early 20s) and then she's like "uhh I'm 15" and the guy runs away cause apparently that's "humour" now at least you know that the guys you're going on dates with are not trying to go to jail...I guess
I'm 27 as well and get that all the time! It kind of boggles my mind that people seem to think you start aging like a banana as soon as you turn 25... like, have you never seen a 30-year-old or even a 40-year-old irl? Most of them look young and don't have a lot of very prominent wrinkles or anything! For me the age crisis is always about whether or not I'm hitting certain life milestones at the "right time" (which doesn't exist, I know) and I can just imagine how kids feel cause they're also being told that they need to achieve certain things at a certain age AND they're made to worry about aging as well.
I'm freshly turned 30. I'm a teacher and a lot of my students tend to react shocked when they hear my age, because they usually estimate me to be around 24-26. I think for people so young, 30 literally does sound like I should be in geriatric care slowly fading away lol. In reality, I never know what to say when people act like there's a huge discrepancy between my face and my age - there isn't, I just look like 30-year-old me.
Same. I kinda liked when people thought I was younger than my age but now it feels weird that they think 30 is super old, and that "I don't look my age". What does 30 even look like? All my friends are in their early 30s and they look amazing, and there's obviously a difference between how we look and a 20 year old, but people insist that I look like I'm in my early 20s. I kinda get it but it's also annoying that it's supposed to be a compliment that "I don't look 30".
Bravo! I hate the comment “I look younger”! Literally NOBODY looks younger! Just take a look of your old photos from early 20s and now in 30s and YES THERE ARE DIFFERENCES
My brother went to a museum and did an interview with a guy who look like he's in his 40s, coming to find out that he's actually 75 years old, he said the secret in staying young is: "Be Stress Free, Exercise, get more healthy nutrition, and you'll be alright." 👍
@@MrPolandballdifferent stresses. Emotional/mental stress produces cortisol which interferes with sleep, collagen production, kidney function and so much more that isn’t cosmetic. Exercise actually produces endorphins and dopamine, assuming you exercise enough to raise your heart rate for a good amount of time. Dopamine and endorphins actually help stimulate production of nearly everything your body needs to repair tissues, and helps your body produce its own melatonin. Even outside of psychological reasons and body-shaping goals, exercise absolutely helps with things we associate with aging - everything from better skin, healthier muscles, helps keep bone mass so you’ll be mobile and hearty in old age rather than needing aids, makes you more resistant to injuries, etc. There’s no downside to moderate exercise, provided it’s in your ability range.

I'm 29, most people assume I'm 22/23, I would honestly prefer if I fully looked my age to be honest. It's quite odd to see how teenagers now look put together and fashionable when I was walking around with acne, tulle skirts over jeans and slathered Maybelline matte mousse on my face. But I can't say I envy these teens, I'm glad we were allowed to have an 'awkward phase'.
In my country the awkward phase is a trend of its own It's really trendy / normal to have braces , large glasses walk around like you dressed on the dark etc etc and you are considered smart if you do that....

I'm 28 and I hate the anti aging market. I take care of my skin a normal amount but swore I would never buy an 'anti aging' product. Older women are so powerful and beautiful, why are we so afraid of looking like them?! The perfectly smooth faces of anti-aging addicts give me serious uncanny valley effects, I know they are humans and I will always treat them as such but they don't look fully human to me. I'm surprised by how many comments here echo the sentiment that scrolling through tiktok makes them feel ugly. Maybe it's from already being outside the mainstream, but it's not a look I want, so I don't get jealous or compare myself.

I'm 77 and I have friends ranging from their thirties to their nineties. I was raised on an American Indian reservation, but I am Caucasian. However, I went to school with native children and and a housekeeper from one of the tribes. From them I learned to value aging. I don't wear makeup and haven't for many years, I've never had any cosmetic surgery. And I'm perfectly content with the aging process. I've never relied on my appearance to get by in life. I think that people who avoid looking their age are missing out on becoming mature, and they will never know the peace that comes from being one's age. I really enjoy your channel. I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and I suspect my mom has it too. Some people with it get extra wrinkles earlier in life, but my mom and I got "lucky" in that we are in the percentage of people who actually get less wrinkles and our skin looks younger. At 59 she looks to be in her mid 40s without even deliberately trying. At 27, I sometimes still get mistaken for a highschooler. However, my joints are aging 3-4x faster than average and that's not very fun :( It's like, "Sorry your joints suck, have some nice skin as consolation"?
@@Autisticgyal That is the case for a lot of people, but there are people like myself whose skin actually does the opposite - both me and my mom's skin ages slower. Well you do get wrinkles from sun exposure, many guys I know have some crows feet in their late twenties. But it doesn't mean you will look terrible or need to spend tons of money on skincare and surgery. Literally just sunscreen is plenty, add wash and moisturiser if you have acne. That's like $15 a month for mid range stuff.
I am 26 and when I am in a big hoodie and shorts people think I’m 18. Honestly, when I was 16 people thought I was 22-23 because I dressed formal casual due to business classes/training. I feel like just being healthy and focusing on your wellbeing keeps you “young” in a sense. How you behave and dress yourself will speak more than wrinkles or dark spots.
I’m a 62 year old female and I actually feel the best I ever have about my looks. I look at photos of myself at 20/30/40 and while I was told I was attractive, and I can see I was attractive, I just remember always being full of so much self doubt. I did not so healthy things to stay thin. I never considered my insides. Always the surface, and how I looked. 50 hit me like a truck and I went through a little depression about the whole menopause thing. Somewhere along the line I realized how fortunate I am to have lived this long, and everything I do now is about taking care of my body and mind, and just being healthy. Turns out, this approach to looking at myself has made me happier with my looks than I’ve ever been. Go figure. Oh, and I LOVE my natural silver hair.
I was a hot mom for a bit and I’m not hot anymore and I’m ok with it. I’ve put on weight and started getting lots of grays but I’m just glad I’m still here to take care of my family. I actually look forward to my retirement years where I can spend my days doing old lady things like gardening and crocheting.
I'm 22, turning 23 on Friday January 6th. I never had an issue with aging either until people started comparing me to my sister. She's a couple years older but people always tell me I look like the older one. I didn't care at first but honestly, after a while it gets really annoying. I've been hearing it since we were teenagers, basically after I hit puberty. Like yeah I get it, she looks younger and I look older... what's the big deal? Why is it always a topic of conversation? 🙄
Sameeee. After puberty I got more of a feminine build (buttocks and stuff) and my sister stayed slim and small. People always told me this crap and it just got on our nerves soo much cuz like what do you aim to achieve from saying that??
My sister gets told the same thing. I’m older than her by two years. But I think she is just more outgoing than me and more forthright than me. Like it’s probably a confidence thing that people pick up on.
I'm a 24 yr old man and sometimes I notice smile lines on my face after a really good day, and I love that. It makes me smile more just in hopes the smile lines will stay longer. They remind me of my mom, whom all my friends love, even if they've barely met her. She just has a good kind energy. I hope to have that too.
I'll be honest... 25 hit me like a bag of bricks. I've had a few major age flips in my life. I was mistaken for an adult starting at age 9 (adults would hit on me, and in middle school my school shared a name with a local college so when I mentioned the name of my school, people would ask what my major was) and it sucked because I would be treated like an adult or get told that I was "an old soul"/"so mature for my age" by people who knew how young I was when in reality I /really/ was no more mentally mature than anyone else my age. At age 18, people treated me like I was 30, there was no room for childish mistakes and everyone expected me to be the adult in the room. I even tried to dress as young/immaturely as I could in order to look my age but people just saw it as me having a well developed personal style. And on my 21st birthday... I didn't get carded. Then around age 23, I started to actually look my age (maybe even baby faced) and I started to actually get asked for ID when getting drinks. But then, when I turned 25, I practically woke up the next day with a full beard, a whole different face shape, worse skin, broader shoulders, a slightly receded hairline and a few grey hairs. 25 year old me practically looks like a different person than 24 year old me. The shift hit so fast that I get caught off guard by my own appearance in the mirror. I went from a twink top to an otter (verging on bear) in like 2.5 seconds. Plus, there wasn't any shift in my weight at the time so it's not like my appearance changed from that People who haven't seen me since before the pandemic have a hard time recognizing me now and even my family keeps saying I really changed overnight. I suddenly look just like my uncle and it's weird as heck.
I'm sorry you had to deal with such a shock, i can't imagine waking up and not recognizing yourself, being treated differently etc. But ngl for the first half of this I was convinced you were a girl, i even pictured pigtails and a pink crop top when you mentioned "dressing your age", and then the full beard comment came literally out of nowhere xD had to go back and reread while picturing a boy lol
oof, that's really common with dudes I've noticed! I have a lot of guy friends from hs that looked like full grown adults at 18, they looked 21 until around 24 and then suddenly all look 30+? Testosterone is a bitch. you'll get used to it! and the good thing is this will be your look for a good 20 years so you'll have lots of time to make it really work for you
i'm 26 and have been realizing this year more than ever how afraid i am of aging or looking older. it's something i'm still working on confronting. i am really obsessed with skincare, because preventative care is better than trying to reverse aging, but i've also been coming to terms with the utter vanity of it. i turn 27 in january, and i'm trying to become more comfortable with the way my face/body has changed/is changing, but it's hard when you're bombarded with sentiments that getting old is scary and ugly. even when i was 20, i thought i looked too old or like my 'looks were fading'. it's wild. growing up with social media really did a number on me, lol. thanks for this video!
I think finding much older people that you can look up to for their beauty helps. Not actresses because they usually have looking good as an important aspect of their career so it's not really realistic either. Look at other people like famous scientists etc... Like I love looking up to Jane Goodall or Mary Beard I want to have long gray hair like I don't care what people think of old women with long gray hair how they do.
this reminded me of one time when I found an old diary of mine when I was like 17/18 and in there I wrote smth like "now I have to appreciate the little bit of youth I have left" and now at 27 I'm like "damn I was so stupid lol I still feel young!"
Just recently, I was mistaken to be between 18-25…I turn 30 in September. Even though there is this “satisfaction” to hear that you look younger than your age I’m not worried about aging anymore. Not long ago, between 2020-2022 I was terrified to hit my 30s. And I totally blame society and social medias. Aging is something that will hit everyone and at the end of last year I started to accept that. I don’t want to stress about and waste my time trying to come up with ways of looking younger and prevent wrinkles, etc. As long as I’m healthy, I will be happy.
I definitely get the fear of “looking old”. Youth is currency on social media, especially since how half of the “talent” on sites like TikTok is just being attractive.
When people obsess over youth they will speed up the ageing process - if you take an interest in ageing you will slow it down. Bottom line young people only interested in young people and their views of health , skin care products, anti ageing etc, are blind people being led by blind people. The Tik Tok generation is going to age the worse of all as they can only consult other young people about ageing - when they should just follow older people who are ageing or have least been through some of the ageing process and try to glean some of their advice, tips etc. Instead they are obssesed withing being young while ageing every day and get surpised when they hit 30 years old. But to each their own. Their lives and choice.
My wife is 46 and is still hit on by confused 20 year olds. Her best story is the store clerk who asked for her id because she was buying liquor. The young man was gabby, very friendly, until he saw her birthdate, then it was "paper or plastic, Ma 'am". Yes, she uses lots and lots of beauty products, lotions, masks, etc, and being petite and slim doesn't hurt her looks either. As for myself, at 40 I dropped my weight from 180 lbs to 150 lbs on a 6 ft frame and covered my bald spot with a real hair hair piece, and people thought I was in my 20's. It was a night and day change.
i highly doubt people are mistaking you for being in your 20s just because you plopped some fake hair on your head and shed some weight….that’s a bit of a stretch.
I'm 31 and have never been scared of aging on the outside - possibly because my mom got me quite late in her life and I've always found her absolutely gorgeous, even though she was older than the other kids' moms. I find wrinkles, especially the ones around the eyes, really beautiful, telling a story. And don't get me started about grey and white hair (I LOVE it). No, what scares me is the aging inside the body. I've had my load of pain early on let's say and being in pain constantly is terrifying. And I know basically no person over 60 who's not having some kind of chronic pain. Body not functioning to its fullest, that's what makes aging scary to me, not wrinkles or loosing tone in the muscles.
Same here! I’m in my late twenties and people think I’m older than my age- fat and genes will do that to you lol. I’m way more concerned about not being as mentally sharp and taking longer to learn things (as well as chronic pain like you mentioned). My body and my mental faculties are what get me thru life, not the opinions of others.
I am now 58 years old and I look like it 😊. First, fear is a bad counselor. The most important thing is your inner world. The pain or some illness you have is warning you, that something is wrong. When I was younger, I heard that 99% of diseases are created on a psychological basis. I would add that after all these years, in my opinion, it is more emotional. I hope you don't have any illness. You need to find your inner peace, that's the most important thing. The internet is full of everything, spiritualism, positive thinking, etc. You need to find what is best for you. Trust your feelings, intuition.... And of course, a couple of good friends and some exercise is important. 😊
yeah same. my chronic pain has been fairly severe since i was 12 (and is getting worse all the time, very rude). i think about being older and get excited about all the stories and life experiences i'll have, and how my appearance will change to reflect that, and then i remember…
I honestly don’t understand the obsession with not aging. Like yes of course wear sunscreen and take care of yourself, but stop being so obsessed with looking young? I’m about to turn 26, I have some signs of aging and I genuinely think they look beautiful. Smile lines are gorgeous, signs that you laugh a lot!! Crows feet too! And don’t get me started on gray hairs, they’re so stunning! I’ve been trying to dye my hair gray for years hahaha
My gran and mum says gray hair itches a lot tho. I said I thought it was pretty and I wouldn't dye it but that's what they told me, dying it makes it itch less.
I'm a teacher and I work with kids in grades 6-12 and lemme tell ya, kids definitely still go through their awkward stages 😅 it's refreshing to work in an environment where I can say, "oh yeah, I've been there". If anything, lots of them have more freedom to dress how they want/not conforming to gender norms and it is WONDERFUL!
I will wear my signs of aging with pride because it means I haven't un4liv3d myself. Every year I get older means I was strong enough to overcome my mental illness that nobody knows about. I know being alive is the bare minimum but I'm still kinda proud of myself for being here.
There’s a song I love by twenty one pilots called neon gravestones and at the end they say “find your grandparent, or someone of age. Pay some respects for the path that they paved. To life, they were dedicated, now that should be celebrated.” That song always gives me chills and reminds me how far I’ve come when I could have given up long ago. I’m proud of you for being here and for aging with us. I hope you stick around :)
damn, yeah. definitely a badge of honor in a case like this. i have a friend who struggles with that too and has formed a similar take on it. i'm a stranger, but i'm proud of you. the struggle is fkking intense. i've felt it too.
I'm ancient (30s) and I always feel like I look like I'm 50 after scrolling social media, but people lose their shit like Kelly Clarkson when I tell them my age and I remember that I'm just chronically online. I still get carded and stuff but I've been called ma'am like 4 times and it physically hurts lol
@@Enriquez2222 how tall are you? I wonder if it's height/features, because I have a toddler size head and I'm 5'1 and get mistaken for a kid by actual kids so- like I just don't want to look like a diseased child I'm heading that way fast lol
@@Enriquez2222 wild, if that's you in your pfp I think you look like you're in your early 20s just going off your face, or even younger. It's weird how we perceive age
@@Hip.Username yeah, that’s me. I was 19 in that I believe. I don’t really understand why people think I look older but it has given me a bit of anxiety about aging. Thinking I’m going to be 30 looking 40
I am a baby face with big eyes and forehead and people were always mistaken me for teenager even in my late 20s. But those idiotic fashion trends made me think I don’t look good, since I don’t have this “female” look 😅 Thanks to my cosmetologist I understood that buccal and face fat, baby face and no makeup is what makes you look younger and that following those beauty standards will just rip off that original fresh look that you have! 😊
I'm 19, turning 20 in a few months and I look exactly like I did when I was 12. I stopped growing at that age. My feet are the same size, my height, my face, etc. The only thing that changed is my body fat, so I grew thighs, chest and butt. People usually mistake me for younger because of that. But I'm also black so being a person of colour helps a lot. I don't know, our genetics just seem better in the sense of not letting people know we're old.
Same for me. I'm 22, and the dress I wore at my school graduation at 12 still fits me perfectly. It's annoying tho, cause nobody takes you seriously cause they think you're just a kid
I'm 23 years old and I look same as my age but I started getting some gray hair at the beginning I freaked out but I'm accepting it . In my Sudanese culture having a premature graying means that you are lucky and wise and you are a person with good deeds.
I’m not afraid of aging like visually but more health-wise. I know I’m going to have beautiful bright grey hair like all my great grandmothers. I also really admire french women who seem to age gracefully and naturally. I’m 25 and recently found first wrinkles around my eyes and I was honestly so happy to see them. I’ve looked like a young teen since I was one. Those tiny little wrinkles are really helping me to look more my age. Also I think europeans seem to be more okay with aging, in nordic countries fillers aren’t as popular and social media doesn’t seem to be as affecting. I’ve always loved myself and will continue to do so until the last day.
America is obsessed with aging. Good on you for loving the way you look! Embracing the concept of aging has been super important for my mental health and I’m glad others are embracing it too
i’m 26, almost 27 and i’m still a student with a lot of 18-20 year old people in my class. definitely made me more self conscious about my appearance. i feel like i’m not really ready to age even though it’s happening.. haven’t had a good childhood either so aging is even more difficult because i can never regain those years
I feel that. To others, I had an okay childhood. To me, I wish it was better. I do have parents that love me but their strict parenting made me lose my outgoingness and become more quiet and shy. I didn't go out much and was pretty sheltered that I don't get much pop culture references at all. I try to make comments when in a conversation but it is so hard for me since half of the time, I get scared of accidentally offending someone if I said something dumb cause of my lack of experience. Entering college, my sense of self became to change but it is a bit of a slow process so I choose to stay in college a bit longer cause I wanted to take my time. I am also in a class of 18-20 years old. I look young though for my age (27 years old; I get mistaken as a high schooler often by strangers) - kind of a relief for me but I feel conscious that if people knew my age, they think I would be mature and I have more life experience. I'm not. I am still trying to find myself as a person.
Very relatable comment. I feel the same so its like im kinder rushing now to make up for all the things I should have done in my early 20s. Like where has the time gone.. Feel like I've been asleep for 6 years atleast.
When I was 12 I changed schools halfway through 8th grade. Went into the office at my new school, & the *staff* thought I was the new English teacher. Born with both the cynicism and look of a middle-aged person, but it did allow for me to accept aging more easily than most of my peers. (I’m in a career where age plays an important factor in how much work you get. The younger the better) The funny thing is that as a person now in my 50s, I just… confuse people about my age? I have almost solidly white hair, but am awkward in a youthful way. Plus, I’m everyone’s Queer auntie, so that doesn’t hurt
Just turned 25 and got ID checked a day later for buying beer (Germany, legal drinking age is 16) so I'm definitely team babyface. I am less self-concious about it nowadays since I don't mind looking younger myself, but some people treat me like a teenager when they don't know my age. It's mostly when I smoke or drink that I will get asked my age and sometimes people will just straight up refuse to believe me until they see my ID. I'm also a short guy so that doesn't help, but it's not like I can change anything so I'm working towards just accepting it.
I’m 23 and I was horrified of ageing for years. I have a good skin care regime but I’ve already developed small fine lines under my eyes, which have come from the way I smile. It used to devastate me But then a palliative care nurse online made the comment that ageing is a privilege some people don’t get to have. And I’ve not worried once about it since
I'm almost 41 and people assume I should be crocheting and watching movies all day in a rocking chair. I do that, but also rollerskate, go to concerts, go to trampoline parks, etc. You're as old as you feel
At 59 hard to find friends my age to do fun stuff with. They're too old for me knitting and doing grandma things like baking. I like to do fun things and can't relate to most my age. Going to a thrift store just doesn't do it for me. Other women don't want to outdoorsy things like fishing either. Easier to make friends with men most my life. Less frivolous. Still a tomboy after all these years.
I always love to see you upload! I'm 35f. I'm still a big fan of anime, jrpgs, gaming, kpop etc ♡ I am consistently told I look and sound young. I still feel like my younger self, but I still dress my age, wear less make up and stay level headed. I feel more attractive now than I did in my youth. I'm fit, I moisturize and I pay all my own bills w/my wife ♡♡♡ I don't have kids, smoke or drink and aged well and tbh the only thing that's horrible about being 30+ is that all my favorite TH-camrs constantly say something to the affect of "YR 30" and using someone in their 30s as insult :/ I still do everything I did before, I just no longer long for validation and I make bank ♡
I'm 34f and I have the same interests as I did a decade ago, only I care even less about what people think about me so I go harder on nerding out. I hang kpop posters on my walls and dgaf. I still go to concerts and watch anime. I feel more invisible now because I'm not as fit and attractive as I was a decade ago, but it's sometimes liberating because I can avoid negative attention from strangers and I'm left free to do whatever the hell I want. I deffo don't have my shit as together as you but congrats on being happy with your wife and you doing you
I’m 31 now. Teenagers and young adults under 25 are usually floored when I tell them my age. What are they expecting to happen when you’re 30? It’s like they expect me to be bed ridden. I have to say I’m so glad that I’m not a teenager growing up in the age of social media today.I can’t imagine trying to be a young adult and having all these influences coming at you from every angle and pointing out “flaws” about your body that you didn’t even notice before.
I'm 27 and the thought creeping closer to 30 makes me have a sobbing fit every year leading up to my birthday. I can't stand what social media has done to my psyche like my brain knows I'm not "old" by any means but I feel like a hag.
I turned 30 a few months ago. I get annoyed how people think 30 is the end and we're elderly or something. What is the obsession with youth, everyone ages there is no escape so why worry..that's only gonna age you lol. No but seriously it's no big deal I look at it by being grateful for everyday I wake up. No one is promised tomorrow so enjoy life no matter your age. Don't let social media effect you with its vanity and narcissism. It's honestly bullshit. I try and stay away from it all it definitely helps.
As someone who easily gets wrapped up by social media and addicted, just uninstall it. Block it via your router, just leave it. It’ll take some time but it’s so much better for your mental health.
Maybe you should take a break from social media for a while. Everyone feels bad interacting on it if you aren’t the most beautiful clever accomplished and rich person you know. So maybe just give the artificial reality a rest for a second.
I'm 43. I hit puberty early and was mistaken as an older teen / in my twenties when I was as young as 12. That was almost entirely because people would see my chest and not bother to look at anything else. By the time I was 30, I had people telling me I looked 19-20. I'm only now starting to look 'old enough' that I've stopped being assumed as super young. I'm just someone who burns easily, so I've always used sunscreen and stay out of the sun as much as possible. I guess if I put in effort/money I could stay looking younger longer, but I honestly prefer not being mistaken for a child.
I have a friend who is exactly as you described. When she was 12, she looked like a young woman - tall and curvy. But she almost looked the same for 15 following years lol. Her facial features only changed a bit. And now she still looks younger than her actual age. I think this is some interesting genetic trick, but it's overall quite cool.
49 in a couple of days. Wrinkly and dry....show my age or even more than it I assume. Never use make up and overweight. Don't give a rat's ass. Seeing these very informative videos in order to educate my 15 year old daughter and save her the trouble of going down this hypocritical society's rabbit hole. Thank you son.
Everyone under 35 tries to look 25. Everyone over 35, tries to look 35 forever. I'm mid-50s and look about 35. Funny that for me it is exactly what that mother-daughter pair said: don't drink much alcohol, don't smoke, glycolic acid, retinol, and Vit-C (plus sunblock), eating healthy, and also getting enough sleep, which she didn't mention. Turns out feeling good is the most effective path to looking good. So live a healthy life, and no matter how you look you'll be winning.
Sleep is really important for aging because it's when your body does alot of it's regenerating. And most people, especially younger ones tend to ruin that by pulling all nighters and partying and the grind and hustle mindset which you can pull off when you're younger but catches up with you eventually.
I am 52. I had botox only once, when I turned 50, cause I freaked out at my own age, that BS, but it felt strange, so I have not done it again. The reason I said felt instead of looked is because I suffer from dysmorfophobia, meaning I have problems seeing my own face, and/or judging my own appearance realistically. If I had given myself in I might have done dozens of plastic surgeries and would not have been satisfied, ever. I do therapy - not for this alone - since I was 34, and understanding the problem was such a breakthrough in my emotional well being! I have a competent dermatologist, who says my skin is fine, I do just the essentials for healthy skin, I go to good honest professionals and try not to worry much. I am a professor, so I don´t make a living from my face, like artists or models. What really bothers me about aging is not so much how we look, it is that, despite how fine you look, age is a problem for women in relationships, well, in everything. It is much deeper than looks. When you are 50 but you are still mentally and physically ok, not like that mother/daughter (that was a little extreme), men of your own age seem to feel you are not attractive, other people are amazed that you still have sexual drive, professional dreams, ambitions, fantasies that go beyond children and family. Being 50 today is not the same as it used to be back in my grandmother´s day. On the other hand, lots of women of my age are finding it stupid to try to look thirty: it is just too tiresome, damages our health, and make us live according to other people´s standards, when my generation fought to hard to get rid of those societal requirements. Kids these days seem woke, but they are so much under the yoke of social networks, that they make my bunch of quirky fiftiesh ladies look like revolutionaries.
Wow i relate to that at 29 i think i have what u do. Apparently men are programmed to like youth the older they get so thats why a lot are not interested in people their own age plus they watch too much teen porn so its sad as a woman getting older sometimes because even at 29 i am significantly less desirable than i was at just 27 which i find so weird.
I'm 52 as well and 💯💯💯 - not much has changed since my 30's. BUT ugly ageism still runs rampant. I find it hilarious that guys my age and older don't want to date me because of my age yet I look 20 years younger than they do yet They still think they can get some 20 year old. It's ridiculous and their narcissistic ass is only losing out on what's important - finding a true match that could have been the most amazing, wonderful choice in their life ruined by agism.
At 53, I'm fortunate and happy to say that aging is not as hard as I thought it would be. Chronic health problems will pop up and require management, so definitely do your best with exercise, sunscreen, eating healthy, etc. And lots of surprises come with menopause, so educate yourself about it while you are young. But I would encourage everyone to worry about aging less, and enjoy being good to yourself more.
I’m 23 and I get mistaken as young teenager all the time. I’ve had people try to explain to me “when I’m old enough to vote” how the process works. Of course body dysmorphia and social media makes me feel like I look way older! They act like being over 21 is ancient!
haha i feel your pain! i was always ID up until the age of 30! because i always looked 10 years younger than i am 😂 it's so freaken annoying. Especially when you graduated college and people think your fresh out of high school! 😫 I hate to say it but you'll never get used to it. Lol and that's the part that sucks! But eventually when you reach mid 30's those comments will slow down. All you will hear is "Wow you look great for your age." Just hang in there ❤️
47. I’ve been told I look younger than my age, and honestly, outside body aches, I don’t feel like I’m old. Until I watch a video of a nine year old having surgery. I probably looked older when I was in high school, we had terrible hair and makeup. But genetically speaking, I guess I was lucky compared to some of my classmates. I do not get the plastic surgery culture. The pressure in the 90s was tough, but it really doesn’t seem as today. I feel for kids today, the standards just aren’t reachable without filters and a fat wallet. It takes high maintenance these days to have a natural look when it used to be we wanted to look forty (to get into clubs, a little dark lipstick and smudged liner went a long way).
I just turned 30 on Sunday. Back when I was a teenager I was commonly mistaken for being older than I was (probably at least partly due to my being pretty tall) but I got really into skincare in my early 20s and now most people say I look younger (not drastically but generally in my mind 20s). I do like it tbh and had a sort of mild freakout about turning 30 but now that it's happened, I'm already over it haha. Literally nothing has changed, I just don't get to say I'm in my twenties anymore. It is weird the fascination we have with aging and in definitely not immune. I try to take care of my skin and hate when I see a line or white hair but whatever it's part of life.
I’m the age of the ‘hot mum’ so 43 but I feel like pandemic years don’t count. I look younger than my age but it’s probably because I’m juvenile. I really think ageing is down to genetics, Botox has tempted me but I can’t justify it especially after seeing that poor woman’s face. I still can’t get over how polished pre teens are supposed to look, it’s nuts
Genetics definitely play a large role in how you age, my mom always looked young for her age and so I do too, my mom didn't get any wrinkles until age 50 and at the age of 29 I don't have any either but I have plenty of friends my age that do have wrinkles (or have gray hairs). I really wouldn't mind looking a bit older either to be honest, especially because it get's annoying to be treated less respectfully because people think you're much younger than you are. At least teenagers are able to see that I'm older so they tend to listen to me and call me "ma'am", I'm honestly loving that haha.
Yeah it’s definitely genetics but also what you eat plays a huge factor. I come from a family of women that look very young for their age, I used to look like a teenager when I was in my late 20s but now in my 30s im starting to look my age, also I’ve been eating more sugar and carbs than ever so i’m sure that has a lot to do. 😂
You’re lucky with the grey hair, I got my first when I was 19. That’s definitely from my dads side of the family. My mums best friend is Armenian and she still hasn’t got any grey hair and she’s in her 70’s. The ageing is catching up with me because of the state of the world though. I don’t really mind, it’s so much better to be healthy and happy than fixate on all your flaws. It’s hard to do in practice though 😂😂
Im 46. I dont drink, dont smoke, dont do drugs. But i have a great sense of humour and genetics were very good to me. Im an aesthetician and dont have some crazy skincare routine. The world is so over the top with anti-aging now. I’m 34 and feel like I’m aging…. Appropriately? I think we need to shift to “good self care” instead of “anti-aging.” Aging is normal people. Well, until science says otherwise.
I'm 20 and thankfully, my understanding of how others perceive me got so messed up by now that I honestly have no clue. Am I pretty? Am I ugly? Am I looking old? Young? Strange? Normal? No idea 😂
A few weeks ago I turned 33. I don't use make-up, don't smoke, rarely drink alcohol, try to eat as healthy as possible, and try to sleep a decent number of hours per night. Unless I tell people about my career steps and personal life (by which they can calcuate how old I might be), usually people estimate me up to 10 years younger. I use shea butter a couple of times per week before going to bed as my only skin care. My parents both look about 10-15 years younger than they actually are and also live a similar healthy lifestyle. We all do some excersise as well, like walking, dancing, work-out, yoga, but nothing in the extremes.
I’m 17 and to be honest, I’ve never seen an insta teen in real life 😂 if that makes sense. In an actual high school you’ll only see like 1 or 2 people who look like the teens on social media, the rest look like any other teen from any other decade, just getting through it 😂. Btw I live in Cali, USA, just to give more background info
I'm 25 and frequently get confused as being a high schooler. I've been making an effort to lose some body fat for health reasons and I feel and look healthier now than when I was younger - this is definitely adding to the age confusion. My niece (16) has gotten offended a few times bc people assume she's older. I appreciate my genes - especially since I'm a med student rn and constantly stressed, but I don't understand society's obsession with looking young forever
I'm 35. When I was a teen, the most I remembered about anyone seeming older was a girl in my class that had a boyfriend years older than her and had a beeper at freakin' 14. She did also looked older than me even though we were about the same age. It was bad enough that I had to deal with the toxic beauty standards of the 2000's like being skinny (which never really died off entirely and is just as bad if not worse today). Despite movements like the body positivity trying to challenge and change that, it didn't seem like it did much to make real overall change. For ages they're have been some sort of beauty standards that are harmful in some way. Today isn't any different except that it's gotten more extream and easier to compare ourselves in so many ways. People throughout the years have talked about how bad it is when you take things too far, and most of us know in our minds that this is bad enough, yet we never really learn. Not entirely. Perhaps some do and they're the lucky ones to overcome it no matter what's thrown at them. Unless it's some sort of facade, but I guess I wouldn't know. I don't know what's really going on in the minds of those that have it all when it comes to their feelings of their physical looks.
It's really weird, for the longest time I looked younger than my actual age but, somewhere along the line it kinda all caught up at once 😂🤣. The only bad thing about aging is while you look older on the outside you still feel young on the inside. The thing is at some point you're going to look older or extremely strange no matter how much surgery you get. It's better to spend your time and money on getting and staying healthy. I'm 67 BTW 😸
In regards to Zac Efron, his was reconstructive plastic surgery after he slipped on the floor and split his jaw open 😬 Also I don’t really have anything against people using Botox because I get it for medical reasons (chronic migraine). Which has made me keep looking good at 30 lol. I do hate that we all feel the pressure to look a different age (or just younger in general) due to unrealistic beauty standards.
43 is not old. What is really shocking to everyone is that a 43-year-old has a 20-year-old daughter. This is shocking for anyone today because women are waiting to have babies until they are in their late 30's to early 40s. That is why people are so shocked. A young looking 43-year-old is not so shocking if she didn't have a 20-year-old daughter, because 43 is not old.
I'm 56. People say I don't look my age at all. Frankly ageing does not bother me. Health and contentment matter most. A healthy soul and heart are gold.
I'll be 53 in couple weeks, and I've been told I don't look my age, but sometimes I feel it! I have never had any work done, and won't. I appreciate the actress Francis McDormand's positive comments on aging, like "I feel nostalgic for a time I didn't even have. The time before we regarded ourselves with such criticism." And plastic surgery for kids should be banned, unless it's for reconstructive purposes. That poor girl going through surgery for 2 hours because of her mom's insecurities, it's so sad. I'm staying young listening to kpop, eating fairly well, and I'll never take up smoking.
I just went through a revelation related to this. I'm 27 and my hairline has been receding slightly more each year since I was 22. I used to get haircuts that would cover it up and I was very self conscious about it. I found some people liked my hair and some didn't. Recently, I got it cut in a way that is still nice but more natural and doesn't cover up the hairline. It was a little bold, but afterwards I was surprised that I felt more confident, like I was myself and I actually liked my hair. Most interestingly, people's opinions about my hair have seemed to flip. Those that didn't like my cut now do, and vice versa. It really showed me how people have different values. I want to be around people that like the more confident, natural me.
My mom and I used to be mistaken for sisters in my 20's, I honestly thought it was great.... mom liked looking young but I think she would have preferred that men my age didn't flirt with her. It made her uncomfortable. I'm 39 now for your metrics. And yes, I got her good genetics. 😁
Im almost 29 and i feel like Im losing that youth look and it makes me sad, the depressions and weight gain have taken a toll on me. 😢 but what makes me sad is when other people comment on it
I'm 26 and would like to stay looking young for as long as I possibly can. The past 8 years I have done skincare, and recently started incorporating exercise and changing my diet. My younger years were robbed from me because of health issues, bullying, and other traumatizing events, and this is my way of taking them back. If people want to look their age or want to look older, there is nothing wrong with that. Expecting everyone to age in a certain way is just a mold that will only fit certain people and is straight up ageist. Just remember, it's thanks to a lot of scientific breakthroughs that we are not only staying alive for longer, but also slowing down the process of aging.
Same!! I'm 25, soon 26. My younger years were robbed too, I had no teenage hood and i want to look very young. I started to eat better and removed dairy products 7 years ago. And being more aware of the importance of diet and skincare but the last Years were so messed up I ate a lot of s**t. Now I want to have a good diet again and doing some sports.
I've been spreading this knowledge to my relatives and friends. Now I don't have to be alone when I get old. What I really fear is flaunting my age over 100+ (when I reach 100 in year 2097) being alive and so many people envy of how long I've been living. I might end up dying because of the flaunt I've been showing. So many 100+ year old on inspirational videos of living longer DIED a few years later after their videos published.
@@MyFirstHandle I mean it is amazing and rare to live to 100, but even more so, is to not have severe cognitive decline so remember to not just do physical health and sleep, but MENTAL health (eg meditation, stress reduction, hobbies, friendships and brain development exercises).
I am 52 and it's really weird. I am very aware of the time I have spent in this body and how much I have used (and abused) it, but I am also way ahead of the curve on a lot of people my age. My health is fine. I don't take any medications. I ride my bicycle as my form of transportation and for fun. I work 40+ hours a week at a busy and cool coffee shop with a bunch of very young people and I don't perform any less than anyone else. I dress cute. I love K pop. My face is showing some wear from sun damage and smoking and just having a pretty stressful life as a single Mom of two and also making some bad choices, but I have just this year begun getting some "work" done and I really love it! Mostly, I am sort of becoming proud of the time I have under my belt because I can really help the young people around me. I am very supportive and kind and open and I feel a huge responsibility to be present and loving to them. My looks? Very much a "faded beauty" in a lot of ways, but I do what makes me feel good to look in the mirror. Anyway, pardon my long post and thank you for seeing me.
im 16 but people for years assumed me to be at least three years older and i find it very odd. i dont think i look much older than my peers and i dress like an alternative teen. i think a lot of it comes from behaviour. i always felt grossed out when my peers would dress like adults whilst being like 14.
I'm 14 but I constantly get told I look 17/18. Me and my older sister, who is 17, are usually seen together and 90% of the people i meet assume I'm older than her. I don't wear too much makeup, only mascara and it's definitely not my clothes. I matured a lot faster then most of my friends, which wasn't great and it made me insecure, along with weird stares from older men when I was only 10. So its mostly because of genes I look older. I also have a lot more of a angular and sharper face compared to my older sister who has a baby face. so that could be it too.
If it makes you feel better, my little sister is 3 years younger than me and people always assumed she was the older one. She had an early growth spurt, wore glasses, and was much curvier than I was. I was gawky with braces and a babyface. All of these things contributed to her looking older and me looking younger. However, now that we are in our twenties, its obvious who is younger.
I've said many times that I don't wanna grow old. I can t imagine myself being 70. When I was in highschool I didn't even think about getting to look old, having wrinkles and saggy skin. I'm almost 25 now, I have 1 wrinkle on the forhead and 2 or 3 kinda deep wrinkles on my neck. I'm obsessively checking them in the mirror. Out of curiosity, I searched for older pics of me and noticed that the wrinkles on my neck were there ever since highchool. It's just NOW I can't stand them and I can't wait to be able to have some work done. I m pretty sure that me scrolling on social media everyday and comparing myself to others is the reason for all of this.
I'm 25 but everyone thinks I'm at least 10 years older. I know part of it is how I act but I've always had skin problems so that ages me too. I used to be insecure about it but after hearing how genuinely scared some of my coworkers are about aging I got over it. If anything it makes people take me more seriously.
I think it’s insane that the older we get people act as if you can no longer be adventurous anymore and live your life to the fullest.. There’s this mind set that once you become of a certain age there’s certain rules you must follow! Best believe I will be breaking all of them lol! I do feel like aging is a mind set as well. However I do want to keep up with my “youth” when that time comes.. I started receiving grey hair at 20 lol it’s genetics 🥰
I think it's people giving in. Many normal people deal with craving a bit more chocolate than they should eat. They just simply accept getting fat and say it's age, they don't try anymore. It's a neat excuse. It's easy to fall for. I mean. I wanna lose weight right now and catch myself often enough using the " but i need the protein don't i?" Excuse.
I'm 27 and people say I look ~20 it is genetics, retinol/sunscreen, and how you act. working with costumers everyday I can honestly say they are much nicer to you if they think you're younger. and therefore newer to working your job. so that's nice... but I'm also not scared of aging I was expecting the wrinkles and the grey hairs by now and am kinda bummed I don't have any yet. like a badge of honor for having lived this long😁
My mom is 68. She looks young for her age, but you can tell she's old. My aunt is 79 but she often gets mistaken for being in her early 50s. My parents taught me never to fear aging and embrace getting older because one day, we'll all grow old. I get mistalen for 19, even tho I'm 30.
Around middle school, people started telling me I looked like a college student. After I hit 19, people would meet me and be surprised, thinking I was in my early to mid twenties. Now that I'm 21, I'm being told mid to late twenties. I don't think I look that old, so hopefully this is all due to maturity and not major premature aging😬
Tori I got told the exact same thing I'm 22 and yeah I've asked people why they always thought I looked older and they did actually say it's because I seem very mature for my age, I would say 90% of the time that's why people thought I was older. I always took that as a compliment, My advice would be to take that as a compliment as well.
I'm 28 and have maintained looking like I did when I was 18. It's a combo of good genetics plus good habits. I don't drink or smoke, take any recreational substances, and have made it a point to eat clean when I can and not wear makeup unless it's for a formal event. I look forward to aging and seeing what my body will naturally transition to as I go through the different seasons in my life.
I'll be 19 this year and one thing I can't relate to is the tiktok dance videos😂. Like the dances don't look good in my opinion and it looks like they put no effort or passion into it. But hey whatever makes you happy im here for as long as youre not hurting anyone.I also feel 30 especially now that I'll be having a kid soon😭 I don't understand the major surgeries especially when these people were already very beautiful. And that mother making her kid get eyelid surgery should go to jail for neglect. Who actively projects their insecurities on their child to the point of surgery WTF she's a horrible mother. Anyways love your videos dude keep it up❤
I'm in my 30s and have never really cared about aging appearance wise as skincare and makeup is expensive AF so I just...didn't do it lol. Being Black certainly does help tho as melanin hides aging better but I also never drink alcohol, smoke, barely go outside nor had a stressful life/job until now. Basically my "youthful appearance" was due to not having to be an adult until I was 30.
Whilst the mom DOES look young, you can definitely tell she's older if she's not using tiktok filters.

And plastic surgery
@@akabeni_mj There are 2 reason they age badly is:
the are FTMs and MTFs.
drugs
Awwwwwweee😢😢😢
That's such a wise mindset!!!
I think it's because people think they can't manipulate or bully you as much if you're older
You got that right. I'm appalled by some of the things I've seen and heard. If you're not with me, step aside.
honestly one reason why people used to "look older" back then because the fashion and styling looks old and dated to us now, which immediately subconsciously makes us realise they have to be older than us. it's true that kids want to age wayy too quickly these days but that doesn't mean that the trends of today aren't going to look dated in 10+ years and thus also aging. Idk this is just something I've thought about a lot lol
The lack of sunscreen and smoking all the time also did not really help

My best friend has this issue. They are short and look very young, no one ever takes them seriously and it's really bothersome for them.
I found my first gray hairs at 17. Now at 26 i have salt and pepper hair on my temples. Yay
Congrats!
Hi
I am going to enter the preparatory year before uni (I am an immigrant so I have to) next year at the age of 23 and then hopefully start with my degree.
It gets worse. When I was 45 and someone guessed my age as 40, I was totally crushed.
@@dammar117 UGH, sounds terrible

I'm 56 years old. I lost my childhood at the age of 5. I saw, and experienced things very early in life. I haven't aged with wrinkles yet, but my hair is silver. I'm just glad I survived domestic violence. Not many live through that. I won't change my appearance for anyone, because I don't look like they want me to.
Siri you look older than me
age really is just a number...... you can be a lot younger and have lived through enough shit for 5 lifetimes. versus someone in their 80s who seemed to have skipped though on easy mode. maturity doesn't seem to be totally tied to age either.
Round faces usually aren’t considered super attractive but they sure make you look super young for a long time. Speaking from experience 😂
I agree. I'm 30 years old and always hear that i look like i have 23-25. Round face and big cheeks
Same lol I’m almost 40 round face and big cheeks lol
Yeah, I don't have a round face shape but I got chubby cheeks because of genetics. I'm 15 and people often mistake me for a 9-10 yo
True. I’m 21 and have a REALLY round face, but people mostly mistake me as a middle schooler lol
and two months later, buccal fat surgery hit the scene lmao...
(Children can be weirdly understanding.
When I was living in Italy usually people were thinking that I'm around 28
In the UK I had some 18 years old friends and the were always shocked by my age cuz they thought I was 18 as well
In Russia a lot of people say that I look 16
I think sometimes people assume your age not only by your look but also by your behaviour
Yeah it is definitely by the behaviour.
I get told I look younger all the time but 18 is kind of a stretch lmao
The thing about being a woman (not saying guys don't go through this but I feel like it's more evident with women) is that you never know if people actually think you look younger or if they're trying to give you a "compliment"
I try as hard as I can to not give in to the whole "stay young or you're worthless" mentality but sometimes I do catch myself thinking about certain face lines that are showing up and stuff like that.
@@MsMrReason omg that is so sad :/
I get told I look 16 and I'm 24, it's weird especially when I go on dates. The guy will pick me up and be like you're 18 right? and I'm like dude, I'm 24 I already told you 🙄
@@jellybean7283 I've actually been seeing the opposite happen a lot on tik tok mostly...where the guy hits on the girl (she looks like early 20s) and then she's like "uhh I'm 15" and the guy runs away cause apparently that's "humour" now
at least you know that the guys you're going on dates with are not trying to go to jail...I guess
In reality, I never know what to say when people act like there's a huge discrepancy between my face and my age - there isn't, I just look like 30-year-old me.
well its normal to look 3-4 years younger than your age....most of the people dont look their real age anyways...
Thirty is still super young.
Ppl think 30s is old because it's getting closer to 40
My brother went to a museum and did an interview with a guy who look like he's in his 40s, coming to find out that he's actually 75 years old, he said the secret in staying young is:
"Be Stress Free, Exercise, get more healthy nutrition, and you'll be alright." 👍
I mean exercise stresses your body. So I don’t see what he’s talking about…
@@MrPolandballI guess don’t be overly stressed

Im 27 and frequently get adults asking me "why im not in college" and "what im studying in college". Im in the uk so college age here is 16-18. I just tell them i must look young as i dont drink or smoke and have a chubby face. I dont wear makeup and only moisturise in the winter when my skin is dry and let that guide my care of it. I wash with moisturising bar soap twice per wash, and thats mornings after waking. And evenings before bed. In summer I may do an extra wash if extra greasey. I do have some wrinkles appearing now but I like them as they add age to my face. (Also i just realised I dont smile much as I have autism so is this some unintentional wrinkle prevention hack lmao)

Some people with it get extra wrinkles earlier in life, but my mom and I got "lucky" in that we are in the percentage of people who actually get less wrinkles and our skin looks younger.

Capricorn people age in reverse I'm married to one! 😉

Testosterone is a bitch. you'll get used to it! and the good thing is this will be your look for a good 20 years so you'll have lots of time to make it really work for you
Curious case of not looking like you age ?
...twink top to an otter? 💀
That sounds horrible!
i'm 26 and have been realizing this year more than ever how afraid i am of aging or looking older. it's something i'm still working on confronting. i am really obsessed with skincare, because preventative care is better than trying to reverse aging, but i've also been coming to terms with the utter vanity of it. i turn 27 in january, and i'm trying to become more comfortable with the way my face/body has changed/is changing, but it's hard when you're bombarded with sentiments that getting old is scary and ugly. even when i was 20, i thought i looked too old or like my 'looks were fading'. it's wild. growing up with social media really did a number on me, lol. thanks for this video!
I agree with the first reply, find older people who you look up to.
Why is it so hard to be nice to ourselves and know our own value.
Best advice I could give you is to get over yourself and stop looking in the mirror so often.

150lbs on a 6ft frame? Bro, that’s a bit on the too thin side. I’m a size 6-8 at that weight and I’m 5’7”.
I believe it. If you take care of yourself and your health there is no reason to be aging rapidly in your 40s.
Regardless, you’re both middle aged people and should be proud of it. Not just aspiring to look younger with a toupee.
i highly doubt people are mistaking you for being in your 20s just because you plopped some fake hair on your head and shed some weight….that’s a bit of a stretch.
@@pabloescobarschanclas shhhh! that man is feeling himself....
I’m apparently one of those women who looks young for their age. But this video has still encouraged me to regularly use sunscreen.
Very sweet comment. I had my child at 37. She's now a teen but I do wonder how she feels having an older mom compared to others.
My younger coworker has grey streaks in their hair from poliosis and I think it looks so cool. Grey hair is beautiful.
yeah same. my chronic pain has been fairly severe since i was 12 (and is getting worse all the time, very rude). i think about being older and get excited about all the stories and life experiences i'll have, and how my appearance will change to reflect that, and then i remember…
I'm about to turn 26 in 3 months and I wasted my youth I want to look like I'm 19

Embracing the concept of aging has been super important for my mental health and I’m glad others are embracing it too
That is such a healthy way to see it, to embrace every different period of your life. Being in your 20's is great but I am enjoying my 30's even more.
i’m 26, almost 27 and i’m still a student with a lot of 18-20 year old people in my class. definitely made me more self conscious about my appearance. i feel like i’m not really ready to age even though it’s happening.. haven’t had a good childhood either so aging is even more difficult because i can never regain those years
I feel that.
The younger the better)
The funny thing is that as a person now in my 50s, I just… confuse people about my age?
It used to devastate me
But then a palliative care nurse online made the comment that ageing is a privilege some people don’t get to have.

I stopped trying to look younger at the age of 22. I am 26 and have accepted that someday I will be old looking

@@Natacha1111 nothing unhealthy about white hair and smile lines. Live.
I just turned 37 and same. I live a simple life with no real bad habits and try to sleep well. I still look the same I did at 30.
Agreed💯
I really hope the Gen Z kids find their way to a healthier mindset, too, by the time they're actually aging.

The world is so over the top with anti-aging now. I’m 34 and feel like I’m aging…. Appropriately? I think we need to shift to “good self care” instead of “anti-aging.” Aging is normal people. Well, until science says otherwise.

HELLOOO 🤗
In regards to Zac Efron, his was reconstructive plastic surgery after he slipped on the floor and split his jaw open 😬
Also I don’t really have anything against people using Botox because I get it for medical reasons (chronic migraine). Which has made me keep looking good at 30 lol.
I do hate that we all feel the pressure to look a different age (or just younger in general) due to unrealistic beauty standards.
about the zac effron... sure....
Uh huh slipped and fell into a cosmetic surgery
Try rocking a shaved head then bald. It's saved me. I'm 28 and don't care for hair treatment.
😢 but what makes me sad is when other people comment on it
your voice is so soothing and relaxing and i love the topics u cover in your vids so its all perfect to help me chill out n wind down 😭
I'm 26 and would like to stay looking young for as long as I possibly can.
Amen to this. I feel the same way about my age and appearance
@@MyFirstHandle omg I will be 100 in 2097 too
@@MyFirstHandle I mean it is amazing and rare to live to 100, but even more so, is to not have severe cognitive decline so remember to not just do physical health and sleep, but MENTAL health (eg meditation, stress reduction, hobbies, friendships and brain development exercises).
However, now that we are in our twenties, its obvious who is younger.
when I was in class 9th, the cashier asked for my college I'd to give me student discount...you're not alone 😅🫂
It could also be a nutrient deficiency. Try eating black sesame seeds.
I'm 27 and people say I look ~20 it is genetics, retinol/sunscreen, and how you act. working with costumers everyday I can honestly say they are much nicer to you if they think you're younger. and therefore newer to working your job. so that's nice... but I'm also not scared of aging I was expecting the wrinkles and the grey hairs by now and am kinda bummed I don't have any yet. like a badge of honor for having lived this long😁
I like looking young😏
My mom is 68. She looks young for her age, but you can tell she's old. My aunt is 79 but she often gets mistaken for being in her early 50s. My parents taught me never to fear aging and embrace getting older because one day, we'll all grow old. I get mistalen for 19, even tho I'm 30.
I've got the same kind of genetic line 😂
Around middle school, people started telling me I looked like a college student. After I hit 19, people would meet me and be surprised, thinking I was in my early to mid twenties. Now that I'm 21, I'm being told mid to late twenties. I don't think I look that old, so hopefully this is all due to maturity and not major premature aging😬
Don't worry, sunscreen and avoid alcohol and people will think you're late 20s when you're 40
