They are icons here in Canada. Rick Beato just did an interview with Ian Thornley where they talk about influences and technique, etc. Another great Big Wreck song is Albatross.
That was spectacular I will be getting that downloaded ASAP. My favorite new band. That was the kind of music I would want to play. That bass was great, hell it was all great. Thanks for sharing I feel like I was missing out. I’m better now.
Really only know and handful of songs from this band! But man they are great! This performance was a treat! Thanks for sharing this with us! So good! Sending love to all!❤
Love Big Wreck seen them many times. There is some great bands that never really transitioned state side. One being “I Mother Earth” their album scenery and fish is amazing.
One of the most tasteful, tastefully delicious, and stinging solos. He is a master. The band is masterful. I've loved Big Wreck and Ian since the mid-90s.
That's a tremendous performance. I will definitely investigate their website and catalogue. Loved the bass, and the guitar tones (especially the Floyd-ish bits). I have to ask my friend in Vancouver why he hasn't told me of Big Wreck. Perhaps he hasn't heard them? More new music for me. Yay!!
We just looked up and realized they were JUST here in Dec! So bummed we missed them. If you ever realize they're coming please let us know - would be fun to go together!
Not only did Rick Beato post his 2023 interview, check out recently posted Ian Thornley - In His Own Words (part 1 & 2) from a 2020 interview. The whole Velvet Revolver story, management problems during the band "Thornley", really good stuff. John Suhr is a huge fan of Ian's and did him a solid with these performances in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Ok, just finished watching. Love your enthusiasm! They are all Canadian now. Brian died of cancer in 2019, Paulo changed careers but will fill in for new guy Chris Caddell (who's seen in dozens of performances beside bluesman Colin James) when he's doing other commitments, and Chuck left for health and family reasons. Sekou Lumumba, from the Thornley band, joined Big Wreck a couple years ago and posts his drum can footage on his channel from their performances. Enjoy their catalogue.
That "in his own words" interview was with Alan Cross. If anybody wants to listen, the podcast is called "The Ongoing History of New Music". Great podcast, great band, great performance.
Big Wreck's whole catalogues is great. Always evolving and different, progressive even. The first of the new EP series called "Pages" is out and it's continuing in that progressive style. Every song is different and really cool. Try "In Fair Light" for something really proggy. Ian Thornley is one of the best musicians you've never heard of. His guitar, vocal, and compositional chops are all next level. They tour a lot check their website regularly. You really need to see them live.
Def check out more tunes from the 2015 Suhr Factory Party. Amazing show. Blown Wide Open, Ladylike, I Digress, Look What I Found, all great. Keep up the good work!
My wife and I are huge Big Wreck fans. Have been since the 90’s when they were playing stadium shows. The band line up has changed a bunch of times, but Ian Thornley has always stood tall up front. We had a chance to see them live in our small town of Prince George, British Columbia. It was an 800 seat theatre and it was an incredible show. Best show I have ever seen live. People say that if you like them on the albums, your love them live. I took a video of a bunch of their songs, but I only posted one on my channel. Here is the link to that video. th-cam.com/video/tjjT-djL8Xk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=jrRFA8JHo_KAK_bT it was such an intimate and incredible show. You really should make the effort to see them live. It’s so worth it. ✌🏼
Me imaginé a los músicos de Pink Floyd tocando mientras cantaba un Bruce Springsteen mas apagado temas de sting. Y le agrego un toque de Pedro Asnar tocando con Seru Giran. Muy buena música. Saludos
They are an underrated and amazing band with a Canadian centerpiece. Great reaction!
They are icons here in Canada. Rick Beato just did an interview with Ian Thornley where they talk about influences and technique, etc. Another great Big Wreck song is Albatross.
I listen to that cassett for a long time I might have had the cd
Love Big Wreck, and Ian Thornley's solo stuff too. Bought "In loving Memory of" in 97 and followed them, and him, since then ❤
That was spectacular I will be getting that downloaded ASAP. My favorite new band. That was the kind of music I would want to play. That bass was great, hell it was all great. Thanks for sharing I feel like I was missing out. I’m better now.
Rick Beato had Ian Thornley on for an interview quite recently. It was a good watch, but I was already a fan...
First 2 albums were also really good . A little bit of getting used to maybe but awesome .
Really only know and handful of songs from this band! But man they are great! This performance was a treat! Thanks for sharing this with us! So good! Sending love to all!❤
Listen to That Song, Blown Wide Open or The Oaf. Criminally underated band .. even in Canada where they're from.
IAN'S voice reminds me of Chris Cornell 😭 love it😅
Right?
And his other guitarist’s name is Chris Caddell!
Chris Cornell reminded me of Ian.

His voice is haunting
You make so glad that I introduced you both to Big Wreck and their song "Ghosts" and how much you both now enjoy their music. Best wishes to you both.

I’ve seen them many times. Amazing band. Do a deep dive into their music and enjoy!
All the "missed" notes actually play well into a ghost theme.
That's an awesome performance!
New band for me... 😮 More please!!!!
TONS to discover! They are in the middle of their 8th album! One better than the next!
Check out Pleasure and the Greed and in loving memory of . Both albums every song is great .
