Wigwam truly is our National treasure here in Finland. Singer / Keyboardist Jim Pembroke was brittish. He moved to Finland at 60s.
Keyboardist Heikki "Pedro" Hietanen passed away 6th december 2023. RIP

Pedro Hietanen did not play on those first three tracks. They are from the album 'Being', where the keyboard player/vocalist is Jukka Gustavson.

Yes, Wigwam are from Finland, but Jim Pembroke (lead vocals on Marvelry Skimmer + Grass For Blades) was originally from the UK. Lead singer on Prophet is Jukka Gustavson, who has been called a cross between Steve Winwood and Stevie Wonder. The great bass guitar on Prophet, Planetist and Marvelry is by Pekka Pohjola, who left Wigwam in 1974 and went on to a successful solo career. In fact Pohjola is probably better known than Wigwam. BTW, neither Gustavson nor Pohjola are in the Grass For Blades video lineup.

Another one from Wigwam worth checking is "Bless your lucky stars", a TV promo from 1975. There is legendary Esa Kotilainen on keyboards and Ronnie Österberg shows a bit more of his skills on drums. He was such a classy guy
Edit: I just came to know Esa Kotilainen has passed away on 6th of November.
    Rest In Peace

Hey roundabout, thank you for the introduction to wigwam really liked that second and third track a lot. Will add them to my list of new things to look into deeper. Nick I agree that bass playing was great we could hear the attack and the fingers striking the strings. Also, great melodic keyboards and saxophone. The video was excellent what a bunch of great musicians and live performance. Great request roundabout, thank you Nick and Alexia. Have a great time in Mexico in Germany.

Hi Scott, glad you like Wigwam. I really enjoyed the Sea Level and Janne Schaffer reactions you requested for this channel. Speaking of Janne, just recently discovered a cool track called First Tune In The Morning by Gabor Szabo from his Belsta River album. Both Janne and Pekka Pohjola (x-Wigwam bass) play on that album. Cheers

Ahh.. Wigwam. Nuclear Nightclub and Lucky Stars and Starpose albums are classics from the 70's. More accessible and more commercial sounding. Check them out...

The whole Mr. Fantasy album is great, such a variety of songs. I just played the album yesterday, and here you are reacting to one of the songs! Quite a coincidence! I originally bought this album in the early 70's just for one song, Dear Mr. Fantasy, and was quite surprised by the rest of the songs. Not what I was expecting, but I liked! And every Traffic album after that. Never disappointed in any of them.
Wigwam, I had never heard of them until now! Listening to this selection of their songs, they remind me of several bands, which sometimes is a bad thing for me, as I want the original, not the "copycat". I doubt Wigwam was intentionally trying to sound like all these different bands, and I do like each of their songs presented here.

First time ever hearing Wigwam, very cool. I agree with Nick that this is one of the best things about this channel. Plus, as an added bonus, Nick demonstrates that one can in fact record a reaction video and chew gum at the same time lmao.

    Hi Nick,
if you liked the Traffic number, care for the band ''If'' , at least the first leg of the group from 1969 - 1972 with the albums If 1 to If 4 plus the live album 'Live '72'. Guitarist Terry Smith used to play ancient Jazz scales but could do differently:
    th-cam.com/video/gzARgPphiJI/w-d-xo.html
fascinating experience of listening to him changing from Jazz scales to Rock scales.
    Gänsehaut garantiert.
with two guys blowing the horns in a 'Chicago'- like way.
Later version of the band (1973 - 1975) included guitarist Geoff Whitehorn who added a Hard Rock flavor to the jazzy structures, then joining Roger Chapman's Shortlist.
    Hi from Berlin, Germany

M.A. Numminen was one of those who created the "syntetisaattori". Pedro was his great friend.

Another great Traffic song I'd recommend is "Heaven is in Your Mind".....
Also, "Glad/Freedom Riders" from their John Barleycorn Must Die album.

if you like Wigwam please check out the lead singer Jim Pembroke solo albums
edit: also want to point out that Jim Pembroke(rip) was from America hence why no Finnish accent in his vocals

Never heard Wigwam before, I definitely dig it.
Excellent keyboard work, love hearing the Moog.
The vocalist was like a strange combination of Ian Anderson, David Bowie, and Randy Newman, based on his inflections and tonal quality.
And whoever the lead singer for Mott the Hoople was, don't recall at the moment..

Traffic’s “Colored Rain” had a tenor saxophone through an dedicated Selmer effect box that fell out of fashion, thankfully. I saw them Live and they were amazing. Especially genius Steve Winwood.

I have just found out we have lost one of UKs great blues and prog guitarists, Tony Mcphee of Ground hogs fame, how about a listen to something of the Split album.

Why do a lot of music reactors have multiple guitars in the background of their videos but you never see them play them. If you’re a guitarist why wouldn’t want to show us your abilities? Are they just props?
