The artwork on the box confuses me. For Castles they used a real Ludwig castle - Neuschwanstein - though they altered it so it wasn't an exact representation. But we still knew it was Neuschwanstein wink wink. For Palace the center portion is clearly another Ludwig creation - Linderhof - just expanded out to true palatial standards. The castles on this boxes don't look anything like Ludwig castles or much like the castles/palaces on the other two boxes. In fact, they look like hotels with turrets. But what's really odd to me is that there are two Ludwig castles that truly are visible from each other - Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, where he grew up - which could have easily been the starting point for this artwork. Yes, Neuschwanstein has already been used, but Hohenschwangau wink wink could have been the foreground with the turrets of Neuschwanstein wink wink in the background. This box is easily the least inviting of the three. And that's saying a lot because I haven't been in love with any of them.
This game appeals to me because of its look. Between Two Cities sounds interesting in concept but looks ugly, so now I can have both gameplay and good aesthetics.
B2C tiles are functional: You can see even from across the table what a tile does, and what the combinations of them will score. Here, you need a looking glass to see the icons if you are over 45... :)
I can't find an answer anywhere for this... Does this have an automa version for solo play? Sometimes getting friends together and wanting to play a certain game is tough, so solo versions are really nice.
Next potential mash-ups: Bohnanza Culture, a game about ruthless bean farming (Viticulure meets Bohnaza). Or how about My Giant Scythe, including your favourite Agricola farmers and giant sheep miniatures? Just joking, love Stonemaier Games! 😀
For me, I think this might give enough Castles flavour for my taste. I just cannot stand the pricing mechanism of Castles of Mad King Ludwig, it's highly AP inducing (I'm usually not AP, but I get that for that one) and it just kills the fun, really (I like building up my own thing, not trying to block my opponents). The wacky tiles are cool, but wouldn't work with drafting.
*Trash game,* AI sabotages the player, blocks chains with no point advantage when placing a tile, puts gardens on second floors early on and stops the player from building vertically with towers etc, when it can put a red building in multiple tiles that earn the same points it does so in the more disruptive one to the castle's layout, and then makes the most ridiculous choices when voting for bonuses, when choosing a type bonus it most of the time votes for a type that is either not in the castle or has less presence than other types. No logic to this AI other than intentionally sabotaging or trolling the user to inflate the difficulty artificially.
i love this game and my friends too. you can say you dont like this game for some reasons but dont call it trash game. its your view its not because YOU dont like this game that everyone will agree. so your bad comments you keep it for you
The next could be The Castles of Mad Kingdomino.
YES!
Time for a Star Wars tie-in: Between two Death Stars of Mad Emperor Palpatine

Mansions of Mad King Ludwig?
Madness of Mad King Ludwig
It got made because Jamey loves Castles of Ludwig.
Perhaps next up will be Between Two Palaces.
Between two mountains of madness.
Up in the mountains of mad king ludwig.
Now they can put Mad Kings and Between Two Castles as factions in Smash Up.
Next mash-up: Forbidden Castles of Mad King Ludwig
Between two forbidden castles of mad kingdomino

That was helpful, thank you.
I’m all for putting the Kittenery above the Snake Pit 😉
Is it just me or does Tom seem to be yelling more in this one?
I was actually scrolling down for comments precisely for this reason lol
If mashups become more normal - Among the Stars: Duel please. The 2 player pyramid draft of 7 Wonders Duel with the tile placement of Among the Stars.
Looks like alot of bookkeeping

* of course it's Viticulture

Why is Tom yelling?
Castles of Scythe?
7 dislikes are cat lovers for his comment of the kittenry :P
Stonemaier Games like to confuse people..
AP in three...two...one...
Between Two Werewolves
Castles of Mad King Looney Quest
should have been called "between two wonders of mad king ludwig"
Castle Fun? But I thought that #tomvaselhatesfun?
Between 2 Terraforming Mars lol
