- Derek Fisher on second base, Alex Bregman pops up a ball on the infield. But Eric Hosmer loses track of it, allowing Derek Fisher to score

*THIS IS A PLAY THAT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.*
You all prolly dont care but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost my account password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Colten Hank instablaster :)
So glad to see the channel showing the entire AB now. It really adds to a moment to be able to see every pitch leading up to it, just like Reddick's grand slam a few days ago.
Kori Jenkins I agree completely. There are so many back stories leading up to an at bat sometimes and it's nice to get that suspense in.
And McCutchen's 12 pitches atbat before his walk off HR against LA that I have missed, so glad to have found it. Thx MLB.com !
Kori Jenkins I
I saw you on the Andrew M. Video tryna spread the love of full at bats??
At first I hated this, thinking, "Why a 16 minute video??" But after watching that Bregman AB, totally worth it.
The walk-off should be credited to Fisher, who ran at full speed from second on a popup. Most players lightly jog when that happens, even in the world series.
Kori Jenkins very true. Great hustle
well, two outs, why not?
@@lanagaylekirkemo4779 yea this guy doesn't get it. Of course Fisher is in there running hard. He's there to run. That's it. He's the pinch runner, it's 2 outs if he's not hustling his heart out then AJ is gonna bench him.
@@OhNikk So other guys aren't put into games with the expectation of running hard?
A walk off is a hit lol
16:20 I love that Astros fan making that face like, “I’d hate to be that guy!” 😂
I watched this real time and it's still the most rewarding 20 minutes of my entire life
And yet, this ended up being only the second weirdest walk off for Bregman that year.
Ellis didnt even move for that ball and he was way closer...
He's doing the right thing by staying out of his gold glove 1B's way.
16:00 Hosmer realizing his mistake signing with this team
????????????????? WTF
they are 2-7, with 7 straight losing seasons, best finish 3rd of 5 teams. they suck, but hey they really rock those camo military day uniforms, snark.
IceCreamMan 79 The Royals offered the same ammount of money if not more..
Leo Dancor He just needs to settle in to his new club. He was with the Royals for the past 7 years and it might be the change
TwoLameTwins I'm a Royals fan so I know how you feel!!!!!
Kinda funny watching this now, as Phil Maton is now a reliever for the Astros.
I watched a17 minute video for Hosmer to miss a pop up
That has to be the funniest win I've ever seen in my life!
Watching this live was amazing!!
Fisher on second and Bregman batting for a clutch hit.... Seems to be a match made in heaven.
One year ago today and this still makes me laugh!!
15:49 cue Seinfeld music
Curb music
Insane! Nice awareness of runner on second, too!
wow bregman led to fisher scoring in game 5 and yesterday
Doanh Pham happened to a nl west team too, first as tradgedy then as farce.
*sees video length*
"I didn't want to watch the whole game, just the bottom of the... Oh..."
15:17 how bout that lady trying to snag a selfie with altuve
15:29 HE CALLED IT
Nightmare scenario for opposing teams: Fisher on base and Bregman up to bat!!!
That was the most ridiculous but satisfying thing I have ever seen.
It's insane how many commercials has to be endured just to watch this short video.
I was at this game it was awesome when we all started yelling safe safe safe!!
Once he looked down, that was wraps on locating the ball again.
This was so not Hosmer's fault. He had to charge in at the last second and lost sight of the ball in a panicked attempt to catch it. Meanwhile, Ellis and Maton stood there with their heads up their asses. Hosmer was a good sport in taking accountability, but he did his best in a shitty circumstance. Also, if you're arguing that strategy would call for Hosmer to make that play, there were two outs. Maton just pointed at it like a dope, and Ellis did not move an inch from home plate. Hosmer should be covering first IN CASE it should somehow drop and the runner doesn't make it home. Nicely done, Ellis and Maton.
And this is why the padres will never win anything. Shouldn't have left Kansas City, Hosmer.
It wasn't hosmers fault
No it wasn't. I'm saying he should have stayed with a competent team that would have given him help to catch that pop up XD
yeah
Yeah.. they're really competent this year.
lol.
@@SgtPrice1000 my Padres were facing a team that was cheating, and held them scoreless through 9⅔ innings. The Padres are a competent team. Hos is happy to be here and we're happy to have him.
15:38 the hit
It's Over Head, Astros Win! 15:48
Someone needs to make a video of this clip and play the Benny Hill music with it. 😂
I remember watching this game live
2022 anyone
I was at this game live it was insane
It looked to me like he took his eyes off it to make sure he didn't steam-roll the pitcher or the catcher, who were both creeping into the area. And then lost it. Unfortunate.
15:40 for the title
Former gold-glove 1B, ladies and gentleman
His catcher and pitcher left his balls hanging
it oniy went 120 inchez
It wasn't on Hosmer.
It's not on him at all. Pitcher and catcher didn't even go for a ball that was theirs
Hosmer makes that play 999 out of 1000 times and AJ Ellis knows it. Pitcher never makes that play, ever. He's the traffic cop.
First baseman must have really wanted to go to bed and said fuc k it
16 ads in a 17 minute video. Come on TH-cam.
Thank You! They want us to PAY to go ad free!
First pitch for the bat was game winner
Padres really gave the Astros a fight, didn't know they were in last place the way they pitched/hit ..... #GoStros
I guess AJ Ellis hit control Alt Delete on that play
This sums up Eric Hosmer’s career with the Padres.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what an unbelievable win by a simple pop-up missed...
AJ Ellis was just chilling out while Hos overran the ball. The Padres pitching staff shutout the best offense in baseball over 9 innings, and it all went to waste. How awful!
The pitcher is pointing up for the catcher to get it but then the catcher points at first baseman to get the ball. Thats why he couldnt make the catch on time. Poor communication
I swear Hosmer was a former Gold Glove award winner
Ootro dolor de cabeza para yadier molina
Alex Breg is the very best, PERIOD!!!!
5:05 lol the astros dugout has you covered
To answer my own question, that LAST play was ruled a HIT, not an error.
9:30 *"FEOUL"*
Is that Maton....?
Was that a HIT or an ERROR on Hosmer?
I was at this game
How embarrassing
Hosmer...
Dropped the ball! He dropped the ball! Here comes Fisher!
and the Astros win! Oh! my! goodness! He dropped the ball!
Bregman becomes a hero with a pop-up.
That classic call
Most valueless player albert pujols nice I loved when they said that for the yanks and you put it with this great man
Most valueless player albert pujols What an ending, the Astros win in the most improbable fashion!
Lmao but this wasn’t really like Castillos dropped ball. Hosmer didn’t drop the ball cuz he never touched it
What in the Padres is going on here?
That's why run at every hit ball...you just never know
Would the catcher have an easier play on that?
Dinger Derby I wouldn't think so. He's in the most difficult position to catch it with the ball moving away from him.
That's why this was on Maton. He's practically under the thing and relying on his first baseman to rush in to make the play.
Never understood this unwritten rule that pitchers aren't supposed to catch popups.
AJ could have made the play easy. But everyone in the infield knew Hosmer would call it so I sadly have to say that was Hosmer’s fault he never said a word to get help even though he was looking around
Hosmer should of stayed in Royals. I'm a Royals fan. I miss the Moustakas to Hosmer double plays.
no!!!!!
Alex Bregman is the BEST
Wow is that why the astros are 8-2?
The stars are still aligned.
Add last night
wow comeon just catch it
I went to this game
Go Stros!!!
I was at that game and it was the best
Snowflake Killer you are so lucky I want to go on 4/14 cause they are giving out springer bobble heads
Astros fan?
UniversalSpace yes Astros fan.
Eva S I’m telling you it was crazy.
Catcher and pitcher didn't even move not his fault at all!
aj and erlin could of walked to the pop up
What is wrong with George springer he doesn't look the same at all i know it's early but the Astros really need to start hitting the ball.
I am 13 and if that happens in a game and I drop it my coach runs my ass off
Fire that catcher
The pitcher pointing at, like I see it I see it.....but fuck it.
Sums up the Padres 49-year history. Padres look so bad they will probably lose 110+ games.
I watched them the night before lose 4-1, then they win the next day on a pop up walk-off 😩
At 16:22 is that a stupid ranger hat
In this comment section is a stupid astros fan
infield fly rule???
For the infield fly rule to be invoked: There must be less than 2 outs, There must be runners on first and second OR first, second, and third, The fly ball cannot be a bunt or a line drive, and An infielder must be able to catch the ball with ordinary effort.
Ellis should have made the play poor judgement from his part, not hosmer
miguel jalgie yep
If he's that far out, pitcher or catcher shouldn't have went for it. Catcher would be 1st, pitcher 2nd, then Hosmer.
The ball curved on him he over ran it the catcher could have walked there
hosmer's ball all the way, 4 time gold glove winner says "i just over ran it", he took his eyes off it to make up ground, and over ran it. welcome to san diego.
No, it wasn't Hosmer's. He had to run from past first base for a ball that his pitcher should have caught. Maton's ball.
pitchers and catchers usually defer to infielders on pop ups. catcher would usually take this one because it was so close, definitely not the pitchers call, but the thing was a mile in the air and hosmer misjudged it during the confusion, like i said, welcome to san diego.
And like I said Maton's ball. Usually, I would agree that it would go to infielders but you got Ellis covering home and Maton in the best position to make the play. Like Green said, it was a matter of both expecting the other person to make the play.
Maton had Bregman rung up on that slider. Call wasn't there.
Fuck we’ll take it😂😂😂👍✌️
As if the Astros need more help winning smh
sebastian Salty
Salty
You are
That’s why nobody else wanted him this year. That’s a 20 million dollar a year player and SD will have another dismal year
No, this wasn't on Hosmer. Besides, players like Hosmer were just pricing themselves out of the market.
How did Hosmer get the GG?? His DRS was -7 last season!! He is one of the most overrated player in the league.
FINALLY somebody looks past fielding percentage!
It was one play, and he played very stellar in KC, so screw you. Watch him hit a clutch triple in the WC game and then a key double in the 9th in the WS in Game 5 in NY and tell me he's overrated. And, he made some fine defensive plays too.
he's not a good defensive first baseman when that was the point lol
It is very difficult to get DRS at first base. Look at other first baseman’s DRS and you will see.
You seen that guy in the stands with a houston Astros rally cap .Dude get a new hat dude!!!!
Fabian A yes I see about 40000 people with a Astros rally cap
Chokee!
I smell a not top play 😂
Whose fault is this?
it's the 1st basemen's fault because he has the job of catching pop flies
Pitcher or catcher
Don't worry, Hosmer will most likely be traded at the deadline to Seattle, Anaheim, or the Brewers for a bunch of scrub players, just like all the other Padre Stars, just like Kemp, Kimbrell, Adrian Gonzalez, Melvin Upton Jr., etc. Then they will probably get someone new to waste their career, just like Hosmer.
FAIL
Hbuy
camel
That’s why the Padres are so trash they can’t even Field and catch the ball 🤣🤣🤣
