Hi Paul I watch your every videos and follow your ig cuz I think you are one of the best car reviewers in Australia and the reason for that is because you seem less bias and very informative. But this video had me questioning as to why this specific car had received more than 1 dedicated review video in such a short period of time? Is it an ad? And they weren't happy with the first one?
@@ishoman.alxndr Typically there are only a limited amount of vehicles to review and a brand like GWM will loan the same vehicle to a number of outlets. To ensure each outlet has time to edit their video they set a date when they are all allowed to be published. That's why you'll see lots of them go live at the same time.
hi. why don't you use slalom braking (braking with a detour of obstacles - cones) according to the prima, the tank tore off the rear wheels, but still showed a good result, when braking on a slalom it would be a failure
Hi Paul, not to be naive but how does the 4x4 system compares to the Isuzu Mu-X 4x4 as well as the interior quality?
Hi Paul, interested in the app used for your video. Please do share.
It's selling like hotcakes here in China for the past 3 years, people have tested in the 50°C desert, high altitude snow mountains, you can find nearly all kinds of terrain in China.

@@AdmissionGaming In China, the Tank300 premium version costs 330,000 yuan, or about 46,157 dollars, while the cheapest version costs 198,800 yuan, or about 27,694 dollars

It's really amazing how quickly Chinese cars have gone from really crappy to genuinely class competitive, even before you factor in their much cheaper prices
Because they steal and copy everyone else, and they are still pieces of absolute crap !!
Lmfao....clearly your delusional
What's more we are still talking about ICE cars and not EV yet.
not all chinese car are good. some manufacture as GWM is quite good for safety , offroad and pickup. but , you know ... some chinese brands are just....cheap.
@@kuyasingapore Did you watch the same video? I saw a car do a stoppie and specs that say 397kg payload.
I wouldn't call that safe or useful for much more than mall crawling.
Nice review Paul.We took our Tank300 to the Bribie Island on the beach last weekend. It was a smooth ride for someone like me who never drove 4wd before.😊
Bribie Island? Glad to see it's kept its name. Unlike 'Fraser Island' 😭🤷♂️
Never considered a GWM before I saw this. I will definitely check this out in person. Looks great for the price. About time there was a bargain competitor in the boxy offroader segment.
I was test drive dual cabs last year and took the canon for a drive straight after driving a hilux.
I couldn’t believe the hilux was 12k more.
It’s absurd what GMW give you for the money, definitely something to look into.
I have the GWM 2022 Cannon and love it
@No_mans_flies I have a modified cannon and still come in under entry price of a Hilux, Ranger ect
Cannon ute is junk, though Tank is based on it. I'll take the Tank.
@@carrisasteveinnes1596 mate in my experience off road, my Cannon hasn't been in the poop, but has pulled out a lux and a ranger, these new models are far from junk
Sensibly thinking, this Tank 300 ticks all the boxes. More so due to the fact it has really only just arrived and already, the reviews are in high praise. Just wait until the hybrid version comes with its thumping 258KW/615NMS of power and all for a measly $61k. SOLD!
61k may be measly to you 😖😂

Paul missed a very interesting add on. If you look at what’s under the cargo area, there’s 4 table legs which you can assemble with the cargo cover to create a camping table.
That’s cool!

Had our Cannon Ute now 2 years, fantastic vehicle and not one problem. T300 and T500 are only going to make GWM a permanent top 10 player by next year 🤙
Had a drive of the Savage (GWM aftermarket specialists) modded Tank in Brisbane. Was very impressed with both the Tank and the mods.
I have test driven both the Tank 300 and the Toyota Prado. I am surprised to say that the Tank came out on top, not by a little, but a lot. I have told my dealer that I will order in December for collection early January. I am having quite a few extras fitted. One being a custom winch , which was crazy money but I will use it.Oh, by the way. I am going for the ORANGE paint job. 🙂

Acutally, the traction control is activated by selecting the mods, after selecting POTHOLE mod, the traction control will actually work without the diff being locked.
Thanks for this info
I have noticed a trend with reviewers where they apparently leave the driving mode in normal i.e. tarmac and then drive over moguls or deep water and roll their eyes when the wheels spin or park distance sensors beep. Just choose the appropriate drive mode and then see what happens. It's not like this is a series one Landrover. If the vehicle has drive modes that tailor the traction control then use them, otherwise it gives the impression that they are trying to find problems where they don't exist.
Sorry, I realised that POTHOLE mode can only be activated when 4Low selected. Paul tested this one wheel lifting situation under 2H and 4H conditions.
They only work in low range.
Love your car reviews Paul! I love that while you are honest about all the good and bad with these cars, you don't get stuck up on the shortcomings like some other popular reviewers. You helped me make a decision on my purchase recently so thank you and the team!
GWM are really showing how absurdly overpriced the traditional brands are
Yeah especially Prado prices. Toyota is taking the piss these days.
Helps when your company are owned by the state and that there's a massive drive for China to replace Japan as Asia's leading automotive nation. Oh and having cheaper labour and taxes defniately help too.
@@Cust0mBuilder GWM is privately owned...
And all Toyota models are basically doubling in price every few years while being the exact same car. They simply know people will eat them up no matter how expensive and crap they get. That's the main reason behind the price difference, stop trying to defend their greed.
@@yissibiiyte really doubling every few years?
A Mitsubishi Pajero Sport can be bought for around the same price.
After waiting for what feels like 3 years for the new Prado, the Tank may get the nod (especially at half the price). By the way, I love the orange haha
Prado is severely overrated and Toyota knows it, hence the price. The cheapest-feeling and most outdated car in it's segment while being the most expensive
I have a GWM Haval H6 AWD 2022 and have been really impressed by the car. I expected the occasional quality issue and problem for such a well priced car, but none have eventuated. The GWM brand has been a real winner for me . I noticed the tech, screens and software appear the same as the Tank and that bloody lane keeping is infuriating. Must shuffle through the menus and be turned off at every start up otherwise it chirps away like a pokie jackpot and aggresively steers the car when you least expect it.
Have a look what ODB2 software options there are to change the settings permanently.. my cars all have annoying things I was able to disable using software on my phone and an odb2 dongle.
@@XXB4XX Thanks for the advice, I'll check out what this s and see what can be done.

Drove one today. The "drive by itself" feature is flawless! Just need to set it up correctly. No wheel movement at all!

Wow Paul so comprehensive.
Very impressed with your review and the car, especially at this price point.

After H6, GWM comin on strong! These guys will blow away the comp.
I think the boot space is just fine given the roof is so high that you could keep some of the stuff horizontally. Very impressed with this. I wish it came with a Diesel. Alas you cannot get everything.
Didn’t he say it came in diesel as well?
I do find it weird considering Australia seems to love diesel power plants, considering a lot of American variants have petrol options that we don't get, this does seem like a car that would suit a diesel too
@@fewfriesshort5593turbo petrol standard, hybrid soon to join the range
Apparently zero diesel available, but when the hybrid is available you won't wish for diesel as it delivers over 600nm & 270kw I think with even better fuel economy.
It'll be phanominal and affordable.

I have a GWM Cannon X and I love it. Hi Paul, and from the outset, thankyou thankyou thankyou!
I've been a tad critical of you not testing vehicles in correct modes off road in the past, but I do understand you can't obviously learn every feature on every vehicle in detail in the timeframe you have, I accept that. Pothole mode would have assisted cross axle traction problem you experienced.
I've been perusing your site for a while now waiting this review as like you, I'm really impressed by this vehicle.
The crawl feature, the turn feature both Toyota derived features implemented now in a vehicle half the cost, unsure about the petrol version but the hybrid version (as tested in Oz) has under vehicle view, a LR Defender feature.
An oversite of a feature is, the rear cargo floor lifts out and that shiny aluminium package stored under it are fold out legs that clip into the base of the cargo floor turning the floor into a roadside picnic table.
Also, rear door has moulded hooks for hanging items off, someone really thought out practical options for a off road vehicle here, congrats GWM.
Whats it missing?
Luggage/storage for distant outback touring & payload to suit also.
GWM will have to lift their game though, as I've been to two dealers in NSW, neither could explain the "Expert Mode" button, one saying "the button that looks like a blue bottle", don't know.
The other describe it as a haval H6, well basically it's the same vehicle, WHAT!!!!
How do they expect to sell them if staff are so oblivious?
Not able to test drive in NSW at either dealer, as there is an issue registering "The Tank" with NSW RMS. One dealer has my details, he'll notify me as soon as one is registered for road use, amazingly we don't live in a country as covid demonstrated, we live in seperate states, approved by everyone except NSW RMS.
Ineous Grenadier has recently shaken up the 4WD industry, well now its GWM making headway, this is an awesome truck. Much talk of a 5 door Jimny coming, truly Suzuki, its too late, this tank will dominate the compact 4WD segment IMHO.
I think this tank could be a threat to a Jimny ngl
It's lack of payload limits it's appeal to Prado buyers, I'd say.
But you're right: not a whole lot more than a Jimny for acres more space and comfort. Might even help bring Jimny prices back down to reality!
Nothing can de-throne the Jimny as the mini 4b! This is double the mass and waay larger so it isn't in the same class 😅
Too true. I was looking at getting a Jimny and this is a way better value buy considering all the extras and features you get.
@@XxXloltasticXxX but it ain't a Jimny!
I would buy this in a heartbeat over a Jimny, I'm a big Suzuki fan, but that thing is a death trap on the road and the size is totally unusable.
Yeah, wow, good to have other competing cars in these segment's, great for us consumers anyway.
Thank Paul. I would love to know your performance app you guys use

CarExpert : this Tank still looks better than the Mercedes G class which really should move from its origin Puch design. The TANK at least looks like a modern shaped box....just like the Jeep Rubicon or even slightly better.
You only think it looks better than a G-Wagen because you can't afford one of them, whereas the Tank is affordable :) Given the choice I'd take the G every time, preferably the army one.

Thanks Paul, have waiting for this review for some time. I have bought one already, the daily driving is fantastic considering it’s a 4WD, very quiet cabin driven in the town. The flashing headlights is really bad. For the Active cruise, the steering struggles on the narrow road, but works very good on the highway. As expected, the traction control does not work well, but once diff locks engaged, it is very capable. I am happy with this car in this price tag. ❤

it seemed ok, right up to the part where there's only a 397kg payload for petrol and 440kg for hybrid. take away down ball weight of 250kg (max tow 2500kg) and that only leaves payload of 2 persons.

i personally really like the Jeep-type look, very rugged and utilitarian, but with it not being an actual Jeep I feel a lot more confident knowing it will be in my possession a whole lot more than it will be in the shop for repairs. I've had nothing but good experiences with my GWM's and I fully intend to go test this when it lands in my area.
Actually it looks more like a Bronco
Im surprised the standard petrol is already really impressive..imagine the hybrid
Hi Paul, great review. I was wondering if anytime soon you will be doing a review of the limited edition Cannon-X?
Just curious, but did you notice any thudding in the front suspension when doing the corrugation section? I have an H6 3rd gen, and if you go over a traffic calming bump too fast (20km/h), it sounds like something is going to break in the front suspension, particularly on the left hand side wheel. My vehicle has done 15000km, and an independent check revealed that all four shocks on my SUV need replacing. The dealer then took the same model vehicle with only 2000km on the clock, and it's front shocks were also needing replacement as they failed the test. Would love some comments regarding this. Another issue I have is that there is no motion sensor in the vehicle, so anyone can break a window and steal whatever they want, and no warning will be given.
PS. Glad to see they have added a light to the cubby hole.😇
This what xtrail should have looked like after the t31 model but they made it softer
Great value for $$. Very solid car
This car is currently a hit in Russia in this category. Very very nice car. Great off-road capabilities, easy chip tuning to make this thing even faster. 1 downside compared to Tank 500 is suspension. Tank 500 is so much better on bad roads. Anyway, amazing car.
G'day Paul. Love your work! I think you hit thè spot on the Mahindra Pikup.

Thank you for the off road test! Can you do off-road comparison between Mahindra vs Tank?
I just got my Fossil Grey Tank 300 delivered to me 2 weeks ago. I have nothing but good things to say about the car. I'm still not able to understand why people are going crazy about the wheel leaving ground for a fraction of a second, its the case with any Jeep as well or any car with such a boxy design. Like mentioned in the video, this car is not meant for racing so this won't be an issue for normal driving anyways. My car drives so smooth and perfect through the city and many people already approached me asking my thoughts regarding the car as they are concerned about the payload. While I agree the payload is low, I'm not someone who used to tow caravans or trailers anyways, so it doesn't really bother me.
I did my research not just based on YT videos, but also the internet and compared this car with other in the similar category in the market and this one really had a lot more to offer for the price. If I had to buy a Toyota Hilux or a Ford Raptor or a Land Cruiser in 2023 for nearly double the price, I would expect some advanced tech and looks/modern design especially in the interior. These Toyota cars look like their interiors were designed in 2015. I test drove all these cars and I honestly couldn't feel any difference in terms of driving capability and comfort but I loved what GWM have done with the Tank's interior (for the fraction of the price). You can call it a copy of Mercedes G-Wagon, but hell, which brand doesn't copy design/tech/or anything in today's market.
I know Toyota have been well established in the Australian market since decades but that doesn't mean other manufacturers cars are not worthy enough. I would give this car a 9/10 today, 9 only because you guys who tow trailers and caravans know that this is not for you. Apart from that I would say, you gotta be in it to feel it. I'm least concerned about the resale value as I'll own this car for maybe 6-7 years as soon as the warranty expires, I'll sell it and buy something else. For me, how much money I spend out of my pocket TODAY is more important than what I may get back in 6-7 years back. Also market is changing, used vehicles value keeps going up and down. With the quality of cars GWM is throwing at the market today, I personally believe that their cars are going to substantially create a huge presence in the market in next 5-6 years and the value MAY increase. (Again this is just my personal opinion, I may be wrong as well, but who cares). I'm definitely happy with my Tank. Thanks GWM.
Actually looks really nice. It looks like a cross between a bronco and a wrangler. Not sure how the resale value will be or the reliability of it. But if both of them stack up ok, then I think it will be a winner in the countries that its available. Not available here in 🗾, and doubt it will be. I have a new Toyota Land cruiser prado diesel, so not likely to be changing my car anytime soon. They need a diesel in that car not that underpowered petrol. But for the money this company are on to a winner. I think if they can iron out the kinks such as improve the 4wd system, stiffen the suspension just a little while maintaining the same amount of articulation, change those stupid low profile car wheels for some proper 4wd wheels then its going to be hard to beat in a year or two. Yep I'm quite impressed with this car. But reliability needs to be proven, then it will be a game changer for many people.
And will probably be more reliable than both 😂😂😂
It's somewhat connected. Hey Paul, I bought a Fiesta ST in 2020. largely based on your very first vid, in this format/channel (amongst others).
