    This will work much better than what I've seen demonstrated. Thank you so much. I wish there were a way to do this when knitting flat items - without having to cut the ends every time for the single rows. Add on comment: I have a flat project that I really want a nice color fade on. I'm going to play around with ways to do this even I I have to end up with some extra ends to weave in and have to do some transposing stitches from purl side of the pattern to right side. I think and hope that the results will be worth the extra effort.

      Good luck! Yes flat knitting is a bit of a challenge when it comes to fading. I haven't really come to a good solution so I would probably also just cut the yarn and join at the beginning of the row. :-/

    How would this work in the flat? Is one round knit = 1 Row knit + 1 row purl?

    • @haalu
      @haalu  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say 1 row=1 round to get the same effect, but you can also do 2 rows.

      @Mellyrn96 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@haalu i don't think one row = 1 round would work while knitting flat though, because after knitting a row in one color the other color is on the other edge of your work and you would need to knit/purl across to pick it up. This could be done the way we carry floats i guess but that would be more trouble than it's worth

    Do you carry the yarn up?

    • @haalu
      @haalu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, until the last round of the block, but after that I cut it and use a new strand for the next block of the same color.

    Don't you cross the threads when changing color?

    • @haalu
      @haalu  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, why? Would that help with the tension of the first stitch or what it is for?

    • @Knitti46
      @Knitti46 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So that there is no hole.

    • @haalu
      @haalu  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the pair with me so I can't check, but I didn't notice a hole. But it can't hurt to twist the ends before changing colors, so next time I will try that to see if I notice a difference 😊
