I had my right ankle fused a year ago next week and watched your videos in the first few weeks of my operation after 4 months thought I would never walk properly again but after about 7 months I am walking brilliantly and can do 20000 steps a day I do wear rocker trainers during the week but normal golf shoes for golf. Your videos really helped me when I was recovering 👍👍
I can’t thank you enough for your videos. I have had my right ankle fused in similar fashion to you although the surgeon used a plate on the outside. You have been so inspirational for me but by recommending MBT footwear you have transformed my healing and future life. I particularly like the NAVADA ankle boots which are not only comfortable to wear but provide extra support and reassurance for my fused ankle. Such is the vast array of styles I envisage that I will be wearing MBT for every occasion for life.
Thanks for these videos, it gives me hope and lets me know what to expect. I think im down the road of getting ankle fusions on BOTH ankles. Im impressed with how active people are able to be with them. At first I was a bit apprehensive but now I am ready to have them right this moment because I just want to get on with life haha
Thank you so much for your videos, channel and honesty. I'm now nearly 11 weeks post fusion on my left ankle and like yourself have had a very long journey to get to this stage. Since finding your channel whilst sat here recovering, you've completely put my mind at rest for what's to come after seeing the consultant next week when I begin to hopefully, fingers crossed, put full weight, through my ankle. I'm also a teaching but in a college for learners with SEN teaching DofE and believe it or not, I can easily do 10,000 steps in a day, sometimes way more if I'm responding to behavioural incidents 🤣 but I haven't been able to walk with my students for the last 2 years in expedition so I'm hoping next year, post fusion I should be able to. Anyway, tonight, I'm ordering my MBT's ready for going back to work in May hopefully and my fitflops ready for holiday to Majorca in August. Thank you again 🙌🏻
@@anklefusionguy did you suffer with quite a red ankle/leg post operation? Before it started putting full weight through it again? I'm guessing it's normal at this stage seen as I'm not fully weight bearing but thought I'd ask
@@anklefusionguy ok. That's fine. I can live with the discolouration as long as I don't have the acute pain I had pre fusion, which touch wood has just gone now. Which is really quite a surreal feeling to be honest as I've had pain in that ankle constantly for 9 years since I initially broke it . If you ever want anyone else to talk about 'their story' on your channel reach out and I'd be happy to share mine if it helps others
Any info on recovery timeline? I had anckle fusion done 3 months ago in the Netherlands. At 12 weeks surgeon was very happy with the result and its considered fused. I still depend on crutches tho. Putting full weight on with walking is a problem and there is alot of swelling around the joint
Sorry I can’t remember exactly the time frame. I just know I gradually put more weight through the ankle with crutches until I was eventually able to walk crutch free. Maybe another 6 to 10 weeks
I was not using crutches after 3months, 2yrs post op, I find I get slightly swollen and still feel nerve issues, but I still do physio and wear good shoes, Rocker style is best.
Thanks for the vids. MBT don't have my size for the z3000's. What other mbts would you recommend. Have you tried the huracan's? I've been in hokas since my fusion and they have been okay.
I didn’t like the huracans, the sole was too soft and didn’t really rock. I think the GT range is good, slightly smaller sole than the z3000 but very similar. Please let me know if you purchase
Hello. I just use the MBT store Europe website. You can google no problem. I also have sometimes ordered them from Amazon although they can be a bit more expensive there.
hello, I also had a fusion on my left ankle but only between the talus and the calcaneus, I am 3.5 months after the operation and I have started the recovery for 2 weeks, I can walk without crutches but I still can't find the right pair of sneakers, I saw that you recommend MBT Z3000 I am interested in buying but near Frankfurt I can't find them only on Amazon and I should try them first. Hello, what level rocker bottom should start out with post ankle fusion?. I'm looking into the MBT. I'm still in the boot, slowly transitioning from the boot.
I’m sorry I didn’t know there were different levels of rocket bottom. All I know is that the MBT Zee range trainers are the best and most comfortable I have worn. Try those
I feel normal but I am aware that joints in my knee and foot might suffer as I get older because they compensate a little for the ankle joint. I will cross this problem if and when it occurs. At the moment I have quite a normal life and can walk well in my MBTs. Barefoot walking is not so comfortable
Sometimes I wear a pair of shoes with my suit. They don’t have a rocker bottom sole but they have a rubber sole that is soft and cushiony. It is ok to wear these for 1 evening
