Video quality on X4 is a big improvement to X3, so I'm actually thinking if I am going to buy one or not.

I’m already quite convinced with this device because I’ve seen a lot of great in-depth reviews but I need to get my wife to see the value as well. I think that your video will give her the insights that she needs. We’ll be traveling through Korea and I would like to have my wife film a little bit while I’m using a different camera. The gopro wasn't very convincing so I end up doing the most of

I believe that the camera lenses are quite basic which prevents it to give it a cinematic experience out of camera. The 8K will give options with cropping but other than that, the lenses are wide angle. Based on your type of use you can do a lot in post production I believe.

When you take the X4 360 footage into Insta360 Studio, can you still only reframe and export a (slightly cleaner) native 1080p video? Or can you export a native 4K video? Changing the export settings to 4K on the X3 always seemed to give poor results. Hoping 8K 360 provides a reasonable 4K video image (and a Native 4K export option) once it's framed. Yay or Nay?

Overall informative review. But I'd love to see low-light and night performance tests of the Insta360 X4 in your review. Bit disappointment in the lack of coverage on that part.

the X3 had a limit of 30 minutes per video file. Is the X4 the same? If you shot 1 hour continuously, does it split the video file into 2?
Ever try watching 4k and up on a cheap cell phone, or a cell phone loaded with files , it always looks 1080p at first and sometimes never coming through 4k
Please make dedicated video on single lens mode explaining all the wide angles

What kind of PC do you need to edit the files? i9 with Rtx 4090?
not at all. i edited my X4 footage with my Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone:) so, any decent pc/laptop from recent years will be able to edit the files! no need to be at top of the specs

Great video… doesn’t the x3 and x4 share the same camera sensor or I am missing something?
It has a bigger body so I think that the sensor has gotten a bump up as well.

I thought they both have the same 1/2 sensor just the cameras Ai chip is different?
@@biggooseadventuresJust checked it. The x4 has an improved 5nm AI chip so that’s the bump up I believe. Not sure how it’s configured and whether it’s kind of an (ai) upscale or hardware acceleration.

3m selfie stick! I was wondering how long it would have to be to achieve the clifftop shot in the opening sequence. That adds to the possibilities significantly. And the stabilisation looks excellent.
that "cliff top" was filmed using 3m pole. i was sitting nearer to the end of the cliff but that cliff was not that high, but 360 camera gives more dramatic look, esp with X4 that has 4k 100fps 360 video!
with the provided lens for the lens... lens protector? would it work in the water?
lens guards are not for underwater. x4 standalone is 10m water proof. if you want to go deeper, then there is invisible dive case for x4 (sold separately)
@@Young360 when using one lens only (when i had the x2 i wanted to use only one side of the lenses because editing 360 takes 2 to 3 times work.) anyway, my question is. which lens side heats up? (i had the lens guard on before and wasnt happy that the front side heated [causing it to fog] the rear lens even when shooting in 360 never really heated as much [lesser fog]) im probably the only person who had this problem or used one side of the 360, so its ok if you Don't answer. also i Don't know how to deal with fogging

um, it is a small camera so i think the temperature of the body is not very varied... but i havent tested that.. in terms of fogging, best not to use lens guards in humid condition?
@@Young360actually i did remove the lens guard which was scary because i ended up hitting a rock during a trip. thankfully it didnt hit the glass. so i am paranoid not having the guard on. thank you. :)
Thank you very much for the great review! If possible, please upload 72MP HDR Photos to Google Drive or Google Photos. The 360 video in the camera is excellent, but I would like to see the 72MP HDR photos without editing.
My buddy was raving about my 1440p resolution vid the other day , he was amazed how clear it looked . Lol , your content sells not the resolution

sorry...no comparison to 1 inch, but i would guess 8K X4 should be the best 360 camera out there now! (but 1 inch is also amazing)

Sadly issues w this camera aren’t being posted out and yes I do own it.
Noise all over the place, not just the sky.
Banding all over the images.
Artifacts both in 8k and 5.7k
Can’t export EDITED video out of the desktop app in 360, only flattened. So the only way to edit a 360 sphere is to, use a complicated process of davinci or premiere.
Low light is atrocious which is why no one’s showing it.
The I fluencer hype is gone, people who actually paid for the unit are seeing that it’s not what it’s cracked up to be.
No one cares if it’s better than the x2 or 3 because it didn’t take much to be better.
Ah and people are saying “it’s clearer” it’s because they are sharpening the video. This is why when you zoom in you have the noise and the artifacts.
As a professional photographer and just a consumer for this im appalled they lets this out.
hope the engineers hear your opinion! and they may improve further with firmware updates. but dont ya agree that for that price and for the compact size, the camera is awesome? 😎

@@Young360 there was a comment by another user speaking about all the bad that comes with the x4. He posted it the day your video came out. Wanted to see what he has to say since it looked honest.
Spoke about noise in the image and banding and a bunch of other things that influencers aren’t sharing.

Amazing camera but not cheap at almost $700 Canadian before tax...
not cheap but packed with the latest tech :)
Considering 8k cameras just last year was like thousands of USD, this is a step in the right direction.
It doesn't matter your resolution at the end of the day , my best YT vids are mostly 1080p
Most people aren't buying thee most expensive devices to watch social media
Dollar Gen Cell phone don't care bout 4k
but many people now watch YT on TV :)

The video quality looks great.
Living in the Mojave Desert, my biggest issue with 360 degree cameras, and action cameras in general, is overheating. Most such cameras are completely unusable from June through the end of September, when temperatures of 110 degrees are the norm here. With the higher resolutions and faster frame rates of the X4, how is it as far as system cooling, and mitigation of overheating issues?
110 F is 43C...that is HOT!!! the official operating temp for X4 is 104F. if you shoot little snippet, might work..but long takes, i dont think any camera would work that well in that temp?
I hate that 360 stuff. Oh man, it dizzying
thata why there is single lens mode here. besides, you dont have to go crazh with 360 files. you can just enjoy simple super wide view
