Today I purchased the camera, and I have no prior experience. Your video is perfect and excellent, especially for a newbie like me. Thank you very much
Very helpful! In Nepal for a motorcycle ride and looking forward to capturing some great memories on my new X4. This tutorial is perfect as I have no prior experience with Insta360s.
Hey Shawn - I just grabbed an X4, and I like to start with some "Beginner Guide" tour of the camera. Your style makes these low key, and less intense, a good thing with devices that have a plethora of shooting and use options. Many people return devices like X4 when they realize "oh, I have to LEARN STUFF? Forget it!"
Thanks for this, I just got mine today, it's charging right now as I watch this. @20:58 you are outside. Can I ask what stand you used? I already have the short tripod/handheld selfie stick which I added into the purchase.
It is really easy to use. I really like it just for the fact that I can get some really unique shots. I can’t get any other type of camera. Plus, I can use it like a traditional camera.
Hi. I have just taken delivery of my x4 and motorcycle kit. Like most, I could not wait to take some video whilst riding and although successful, I was somewhat stumped with the editing. Having found your tutorial I am so happy that I can now make use of the app and camera to achieve what I want. So looking forward to some dry weather to get more footage. Thank you for such a clear and concise presentation. I will eagerly look for more from you.
Great to see that the iPad app now utilises the whole screen, I exported a reframed video but it saved it to the photos app, I seem to think you mentioned it goes back to the camera sd card, when I looked it wasn’t there just to photos app. Is there a setting to change etc as I want it to go to the sd card?
Was wondering. With this 360 x4 camera. Does this allow viewers to have control of what angle they see when it's viewing. Example on tv. Ability to control with remote.
Great video. Very helpful. I’m looking to purchase this camera and new to the world of action cameras and editing. Was wondering. You’re exporting and editing single continuous clips you recorded. What if I had 10 or 20 different clips from starting and stoping recording during a bike ride. And I wanted to piece all these together to then edit and trim the best parts and export it as one ?
Thank you very much for your excellent tutorial, Shawn. These companies should pay you for the great way in which you present these things, both complete (to the level you have said it will be presented - e.g. beginner, advanced) and in a way that is easy to follow and understand. In fact, your work today has convinced me to jump in and buy this camera. I had decided that things like my vacation videos would be done using the combo of my iPhone Pro Max and the Mini 4 Pro, and rejected the idea of adding a GoPro or other action camera to the mix. But this is different. I like the fact that the image captured is in 360 and giving the freedom to edit any view wanted. Of course 360 cameras have been out for awhile, but this one with its increased capabilities makes the difference for me. Thanks again, Shawn.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that. Indeed the capabilities of this camera now are incredible. I d did use the previous models on a regular basis, but I am extremely pleased with the quality. I will definitely be using it much more frequently. Many people this is the only camera needed. I love all the interesting perspectives I can capture.
can more than one mic be connected to X4? Without the DJI mic charge case, is there a way to know the amount of battery life in the DJI Mic 2? I believe the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 shows the % on the screen when connected... what method do you use if you are only traveling with a Mic 2 that is dedicated to the Insta360 X4?
So when you shoot 360 mode in 4k at 30 fps, is the film then stitched together at 1080p? In order to get a 360 vid, then do you need to shoot at 8k? I have the GP 360 camera and when stitched together its 1080p and the gap in quality is noticeable
No you can't. However, if you are in either the Video or Photo mode and you are currently not recording and you have voice command enabled. if you say 'Take Photo' the camera will switch to photo mode and takes a photo.
Great video. I'm yet to get into the world of action/360 cameras but I am coming from Nikon DLSR cameras and sport photos. The two views at the same time (front and back) is a nice feature, can that be customised so that one screen is say in the corner of the main screen rather than side-by-side? I've searched and searched but not found an answer, is it possible to shoot a photo while the video is still recording? Anyway, a great video and I got lots out of it, thank you. I'll be purchasing soon.
Was there any settings you had to change to export in 4K on your iPad? I have an older iPad Pro and I’m only able to export at 2.7k. Thinking my iPad might just be too old?
Good morning Big fan, Love all your reviews. I've got a question for you. It's on the insta X4. I'm buying an X4 but not sure how you should hold it. Basically I want to make sure the stitch line is perfect. So how do you hold the camera on a selfie stick? Which direction should the lens be facing. I'll be using it on a motorcycle, so which Angle should the lenses be at. Thank you
Whenever a new gadget comes into the market, I always love how your review it @AirPhotography That intro, from features down to in-depth information with a smoothing voice, kudos to you I always had this feeling of buying every time you review something new in the gadget scene, hence this might be my first ever insta360 added to my camera gears Thanks again, love lots
Could someone tell me if I use “loop” mode will it record over just that 30min loop over and over or will it record over other recordings on the camera? Thanks
Hi. Can you please confirm - if I am editing via WiFi, the large raw file remains on the camera SD card and only the final version is exported to the phone. I do not necessarily need a huge amount of free space on my phone. Correct? I can just export the edited clips and delete the raw file. Right?
If we were to compare the 5k 30fps (reframed at 1080p) of the X3 with the same but on the X4, is it better? Or the HDR mode, identical settings on both
I just received my x4 today and was completely intimidated by it. Your video was very informative and gave me a much better understanding of operations as well as getting started. Thank you.
If you do film a lot with it throughout a day then yes definitely. Myself usually I can get through a day with one battery because I’m only filming smaller clips. But I always like to carry a spare just in case.
When ever I use 8k 30fps or 5k settings it only allows me to export in 1440p but if I record in 4k 60 it does allow me to export my videos in 4k. I use an iPhone 12 mini to edit my videos in the insta360 app.
Is there a way I can download my 360 videos onto my iPad or android phone and view them in 360 or do I have to use a certain program in order to view them in 360?
Works perfect for me. I’ve never had an issue with connection. I wouldn’t say I use the app daily but several times a week. Perhaps it depends on the phone model.
I have the 360Flow and the OG Go now have the X4(not really liking it but i give it a chance for a week) never had any issue with the Insta360 app it is very easy to use and like I said never had an issue... good luck Peace! thanks Sean for another great video as well!
I want it!!.. the bundles are triggering my adhd ..I have great deal of gopro hero 7 black accessories... yeah thats how far behind I'm lagging.. I hope I'm pleasantly blown tf away with the gap lol like I was when I went from Pixel 2 to the S22ultra ..life changing contrast!!
You're not even remotely "lagging behind". You're simply not subscribing to the absurd push of these companies to make you feel like you have to buy a new camera every year. I'm still using the hero 5. The 7 is a perfectly great camera and there's not much an 8 or 9 or what have you would be doing better.
I have ran into an issue with exporting 360 view footage. Most computers on the market will take hours to export the files out of Insta360 Studio if the clip is longer than 30 seconds. My research is steering me to an upgraded Mac Book with M3 processor to handle the processing load on the computer.
instead of a spare battery I bought a powered selfie stick and a super long (3m) USB-A to USB-C cable, so I can use an external battery pack. That should get me through the day :-)
Schawn, thanks for the basics. Please prepare a detailed tutorial for super beginners like me. I'm planning a vacation and my camera is not going to cut it. So I need this 360 and how to prepare the most beautiful memories of all !!
The good thing is this particular rubber lens protector goes over this huge premium lens guards. People better take that into consideration if they go online to buy better encasing or they’re going to have to assemble, disassemble the lens guards every time they put it away. 😂
Why isn't the camera working out of the box? And why can it only be unlocked with an Insta360 app? And not even with a PC, only via smartphone... How about making a video about that?
Unfortunately, that’s kind of across the board now for gear like this. Everything needs to be activated. It is a real pain. I do agree. Most brands require this now
@@AirPhotography Thank you very much for your kind answer! I wasn't aware of this. I'm usually photo only (Nikon) and planned to go back into video with the X4... and now I have to return that piece of crap. What's next? Having to register your coffee machine before it works? Having to register a cornflakes box before you can open it? Especially since the damn camera is working for half a second when you fire up the X4 - but then they lock it up like an Uyghur...

Thank you very much
Fantastic video. Well paced and excellent visuals. Top shelf!!
getting my x4 tomorrow... this video is gold! thank you! will have to watch a few times lol.
I LOVE this tutorial!! I just got the camera last week and your tutorial has helped me tremendously! THANKS

As always Shawn clear and concise and covers all bases thanks
Brilliant video .. just bought the x4 , gonna be a steep learning curve me thinks , Thanks for the upload , appreciated
Great tutorial. A lot to absorb. This camera does everything.
I just got the X4, and this was very helpful getting it setup and ready to go. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing great guide for beginner... I'll try this guide
Thanks for watching

Hi. I am trying to figure out how to use it for motorcycling as well. Any tips? I haven't tried it yet.
do you use the lens protector while riding?
I don’t use the Len’s protector but with increasing number of flying bugs I will give it a try
Thanks
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that.

Indeed, when you export it will save it to the camera roll. From there, you can move it to other devices via the Files app.
@@AirPhotography many thanks! Shame it doesn’t give another option to cut out that step but thanks for the reply!

If uploaded as a 360 file, yes.

Awesome tutorial. Love it. Nice work. Highly recommended to a new insta360 owner. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the Video, does the Camera have a Slow Motion Mode for Single Lens?
Indeed, yes, it does

Unfortunately, only one Bluetooth microphone at a time. And it does not show the battery percentage.
Great Tutorial thank you I learned so much.
Thanks for the video I bought the same camera. Can't wait to start using it
Great helpful video. What tablet are you using the app on? I've just found that my Chromebook isn't compatible so need to find a tablet I can use.
Did you have to do anything special to use the phone as a remote? Mine isn't showing the preview like yours at 21:45.

This was a great intro :)
Is it possible to get a clear image withe the lens guards? I get a horrible and ridiculous amount of glare with them on distorting all the footage
Great video!! One question: Do you know if you can take a photo while you are recording a video? It would be awesome!
No you can't. However, if you are in either the Video or Photo mode and you are currently not recording and you have voice command enabled. if you say 'Take Photo' the camera will switch to photo mode and takes a photo.
How about using da vinci resolve to color grading this x4? Do you recommend

When I put my hand up or do the peace sign it’s on the video. How do I stop this please ?
how fast can this camera boot up? From OFF state (as opposed to stand-by) to the start of recording, how many seconds?
How to mark some moments while recording ?
