PSA: When people are complaining about noise, an easy option that works most times is to change the nearby roads to tree lined streets. If it's near a highway, upgrade to highway segments with sound barriers.
Actually even small shops do make some noise. Do take care about that. Even ur small roads can cause some noise if a lot of trucks and cars travel them

I love how detailed this game is, like people walking around, getting on the buses and subways, things like that. You can even see the names of the people living in a certain house!
When your city grows the train tracks get very busy - you'll need to use the one-way tracks (going over/going under) on the train-intersections to make them work or it'll get gridlocked at some point. Works very much like highway-intersections.
I got the infinite train gridlock on the edge of my city and couldn't for the life of me work out why. This makes so much sense now! I ended up having to delete the section of track coming into the city (I have another track coming in from another direction which is fine, so trains can still use that), but because I can only delete tracks up to the edge of my city limits, there's now just a long disconnected section of track leading off the edge of the map full of stationary trains with nowhere to go...not much I can do about that now! xD
In my opinion it's best to keep exterior train lines separate from internal train lines, I've had issues in the past where trains from outside of my city came in and gummed up my entire train system, ever since then I always place two train stations near the outside connecting track, one train station connected to that, then across the street from it a train station connected only to my inner city tracks. And you can do the same thing with your cargo train stations.
Those tracks are connected but not really smooth. Train really cant turn that smooth on that curve. I think game developer could make it better option to the players on joining tracks. Great videos, btw. Subscribed.
is it possible to pull power cables sub-surface? i rather like how they build here in sweden where pretty much every single cable of every type runs underground, looks neat and tidy!
That's the blue bubbles - the local connections between buildings. The power lines are just for distant connections. For PC, there is the "underground power cable" mod/asset, which basically just extends the blue bubbles by a bit.
Nice. Here’s my idea: station accessed via riverside line at 12:00 should be the Multiplatform main station, then a line from farming to main station to the first station you plopped to suburbs further on.
Some.things ive done and come across....Make sure you set up a freight train station outside or very near every heavily concentrated commercial and inustrial zones in your city or town....... Especially after you zone your industry to mine specific resources.....you can also make these trains go underground in case you want to keep the noise level down...anything subterranian wont affect noise pollution...ive created highways completely under ground to alleviate noise pollution when passing through residential zones.....Parks are a great buffer around industrial zones as well....When crossing your rail road tracks over roads...either go over or under the crossing...especially if you are constructing in a dense poulated area of your city...it will help to not stop the flow of your traffic at the crossing............and im only on console so i dont have all the special tools you pc folks have but the strategy is the same....i always model my infrastructure much like that of a large metropolitan area

There's a glitch when placing train stops for me, works fine placing bus and metro stops but not train stops. Basically I can place 1 or 2 stops on a route and then the other stops I want to place does not work, clicking does nothing.
As it works to roads, where there is a road hierarchy that people should use (highways that connect to 6 lanes, that connect to 4 lanes, that connect to 2 lanes) on public transport trains can handle 240 passengers per train and this ones should travel long distances, metros/monorail can handle 80 and should be used for medium distances between stations and busses/ferries wich carry 30 passengers should be used with stops kinda close of each other! If you manage to build this hierarchy for public transport you will see a dramatic increase of traffic flow to entire city!
Quick question: 7:31 you created a Cim to walk around the tracks. Can you do that on console. PS4 specifically. If so how? Love your tutorials, they are giving great inside into city designing

I'm not getting any outside visitors. As far as I can tell, I am connected to the lines going out into the world. Do I need to make an actual line or will just connecting the rail suffice.
I would update that 2 way road going to the industry, to a 6 lane like the main avenue through that area. So then you have an avenue as a main road going into your industry, as it's clearly very busy! You could even continue that around through the area and back to the roundabout
wow looks so tricky to play vanila on console, pc and loads of mods is best way to play this - tip for trains make your staition bypasses longer ( at least the length of one train before and after the stop ) this will help lower jams on the rail network, also make a sperate network for cargo trains.
good video, only your traffic is quite bad! :) under 16 k residents and only 76%!! My city I just building have 100 K and my traffic is about 81-85%. I think that having on the day/night circle makes is a bit different. I"m building a lots and lots of walking pathways in my cities (I have watched most of your videos and you just talked about them, but not building much of them)and they help a lot to reduce the traffic. Also as the road layout the zoning is very important for the traffic. Don't zone a large areas with one tipe of zone. I always mix them up a bit so citizens don't have to travel to far to work or shops, also if you spread your commercial zones, the delivery vans will spread so the traffic will spread which means the traffic is lower. And if you will do it cleverly you won't get noise sickness at all. For clearing up some very noisy areas, i will use offices trees and parks. For roads which are going to bee too busy and I want them with some buildings, then i will use offices or residential or mix both. Industry is better also smaller and spread in different places, and i will always put some commercials and offices there as well. Hope this helps :)
This series isn’t about building a successful city. It’s a bunch of separate concepts thrown together on the same map. I’m not focused on traffic at all at this point. In a later episode I’ll talk about diagnosing and solving problems, traffic being one of them.
Hi, I am having a continuous problem where my industrial buildings have the problem where they don’t have enough fuel. The highway runs right next to the buildings and I have made a six lane exit forming two intersections ok the highway in order to allow trucks to reach the buildings with ease. There is a roundabout at the main exit of the highway as I have done my beat to follow along with the series. Help would be great.
@@MoveTheMouse I think it's pretty characteristic of console play honestly, because you get used to it and then don't notice it; but as someone solely on the PC it's very jarring to me so I thought I'd bring it forward. It doesn't take away from the quality of the tutorial itself, just means I might have to take it in small chunks. LOL :)
I have four stations all operating normal but no trains and one station has an icon that looks like a road withtwo diagonal lines going through. I don't know what I am missing. Can't find the answer anywhere. I'm on PS4. Just realized it's a stop symbol but I'm not sure how to change it
Passenger trains in this game are a huge waste of money imo. Subways are much more effective and require only a fraction of the money and space that trains do. If I want tourists in my city I just build an airport and connect that to the metro.

Check for one way roads. Try destroying the building and replacing it. Also I've seen a lot of issues with city service vehicles not spawning when playing with the unlimited money and other cheats on console. It's broken the game for me so many times I only play legit now.

@@BracownReclidobo They will only go out if they actually can reach the sick people going in the allowed traffic directions (and afterwards can come back). So one-way roads are fine, if they form a loop, but can be problematic when they cut off the service building from part of the city. Don't put them on one-way roads just going to the highway.

I appreciate your economically approach...but am I the only one who literally dosent have to worry about money after like 15K population? I have literally dropped by taxes down across the board to almost 7% and I have 65K population....still have over 5 million in the bank..

You can also rezone nearby commercial and industrial to office, or rezone the residential and get rid of the complainers.
i always upgrade roads to tree-lined as soon as i'm able to anyways - i hate the look of cars parked on the side of streets (both in-game and IRL).

i just wanted to know if train stations requires an additional path for the train that doesn't stop to prevent traffic issues.
The over head for train operation and right of way maintenance is very high, it would be nice to be able to see how it benefits the economy.

Only with mods. If you’re on PC check out the electric roads mod.

quick tip for noise - a row of offices between residentianl and noise sources acts as a sound barrier

Press the touch pad on the controller and then press triangle it brings up a menu where u can choose to walk drive or fly around
