We keep vinegar in a Ball mason jar near our sink to place citrus peels instead of putting them in the compost bucket, After two weeks, strain and whallah a nice natural cleaner that smells great too. We uae all citrus but lemon and lime solutions are my favorites.
Me, too, @AzaleaBee 😁 I also like grapefruit rinds in mine. For those who have not tried it, make certain you only put in the rinds and not any of the friut or pith 😉.
Been using vodka instead of fabreez for a while now. No cat pee smell, like too much fabreez. Pour it into a little spray bottle, no need to ad water. Spritz away on fabrics or surfaces. Plus works as a hand sanitizer.
@@ShipperChicktrue, but it works great for hand sanitizer with EO’s in small quantities. I always add a pinch of salt to emulsify the EO with the vodka or vinegar. 😊
Why are you buying vinegar from anywhere. Why are you not making it yourself. Check out posts from Rain Country on how to build your own vinegar. It is so simple. You can clean everything with it. God Bless Joe Scott Muddy Dog Ranch
It’s crazy to me that you can clean with just different concentrations of vinegar, baking soda, and vodka. So easy!! Love this and using up the last of what I have with all the other chemicals.
I use regular 5 percent vinegar in place of dishwasher soap. I just pour about 3/4 cup on the door and start the load. For the majority of washes everything comes out sparkling clean! I also pour some in the little dispenser that is for post wash, spot free rinse. Especially if you have hard water this helps to make everything spot free. To me using vinegar in the dishwasher is better then using harsh, toxic chemicals on your dishes. Let's think of the logic behind using vinegar for dishes and countertops. You could eat a spoonful of vinegar but you can't do that with bleach or dishwasher soap !!! Great video Carolyn ! Thank you!
I love making my own cleaning supplies. Got really good at it during the pandemic when all the shelves were bare and I was making bottles for friends and family! Thanks for the Azure Standard tip. It looks like they have a ton of really great products at very competitive prices when compared to what I can buy from local stores and a better selection of organic as well. Thanks again!
I, like you, hate buying things packaged in plastic. That's why I switched to buying stick butter instead of margarine in the plastic tubs years ago. Real butter is a healthier choice anyway.
I looked up the gallon jug of vinegar on Azure Standard and was SHOCKED at the price! I shop at Azure and after I added the 8.5% shipping, that one gallon of vinegar costs $34.05. O Organics in a quart jug is $2.49. If you multiple that by 8 ($19.92) to account for the difference in acidity, it is still WAY less expensive.
I use a spray bottle of distilled water with a teaspoon of dish soap as an all purpose solution. I always use distilled water because I don’t use the solutions up fast enough and the minerals in tap water can clog the sprayer.
I switched to pump spray deodorants a few years ago- maybe they don't have all the exotic scents of the big names, but I'm no longer bothered by that- I augment with a little perfume oil -- we also switched over to more environmentally friendly cleaning brands, avoiding any & all aerosols - after getting rid of aerosol use, & big-brand commercial cleaners, we wouldn't go back; our families' migraines have dropped off (I suffered badly with them throughout childhood & adolescence)- & my younger brother no longer complains about his clothes smelling like they still have detergent in them. We'd like to do more still, & it would be nice to make our own- but life doesn't really allow it at the moment, so we do the best we can...
I love Bleach! I love the smell. It just smells like clean to me. That being said, I buy bleach tablets and make it by the 5 gallon bucket but I typically buy my bulk items at the US Foods Chef Store including dish soap 5 gallons at a time. But I will most definitely compare prices. Thanks for the video, I didn't know this place even existed Also the recent canning stream was great!
I agree love the smell of bleach. But most bleach today isnt bleach! After you open it it loses the bleach smell in a few days so i buy gallon of chlorine mix it with water.( cheaper then bleach too)
I have been using these ingredients for years as my Mom & Grandma did. I thought I would try the dish soap, small at first to see if I like it, I have tried so many so far only to like a few at the start but not over time. I did look at the box one as shown in this video and it sound like you need to buy a separate spigot, do I understand this right? Thank you for your time.
What's wrong with a sales pitch? Business has existed in this world for thousands of years. Is she sharing poison? No. She's sharing good goods. Do you have to buy? No. You can buy the same from an equally good brand. Stop being toxic. You need Jesus ❤.
I just rewatched a video on water glassing eggs that you made 7 years ago. I have a question. Can I store my unwashed, clean eggs in the fridge until I'm ready to preserve them?
@@HomesteadingFamily how long can the unwashed, clean eggs sit out on the countertop before water glassing? It would take my girls about a week to get a gallon full.

I like the idea of using vodka! I use alcohol 70-90% to wipe down door knobs, key boards, light switches, and surfaces. Is vodka cheaper than alcohol?
Vodka is only about 40% alcohol by volume - isopropyl alcohol is 70 -90 %. Isopropyl alcohol is about half the price of vodka.
Oh and while Everclear is higher in alcohol content, it also runs about $22 per quart.

Love the idea of getting the toxins and extra plastics out of the house.

I have been doing this for years due to allergies.... Plus vodka. And I bought me back so much space!

You won’t regret ordering from them. Amazing company!
Love this video! Been doing this for years ❤. My current favorite essential oil combo for vinegar spray is juniper mixed with sweet orange.

Thieves oil would be another good option to put in the first two.

I agree with you! I make most all of my cleaning products! The worst to buy is aerosol cans! Cannot believe anyone would still buy those!!

The azure standard dish soap is the base for all my cleaning too. I wish I could have made it work for laundry ha.
I love my homemade cleaning products. I just bought vodka today to make a linen spray.
I use rubbing alcohol on my granite counter tops, alcohol, water some dish soap and essential oil. Easy peasy
I've been trying to use the dish soap/baking soda on hard water stains where I work. Can you suggest anything else?

Great recipies, be sure and label everything they all look alike!
